  Check with the e-mail provider.  You have probably not all the correct settings.  It is likely to be the outgoing port number.

  You post in a forum of Vista and Outlook Express last used in XP. If you mean Vista Windows Mail, unless you have removed the account, just open the program and use it. You can remove WLMail whenever you want. It is a part of the programs in the window Live Essentials Control Panel uninstall section.

  If you use ONLY to send and not calendar & contacts windows live mail (any version), you can configure to operate using IMAP/POP.  If you do not need to synchronize the calendar & contacts...

  It works with Exchange, POP, IMAP and looks like Windows live mail.  Frankly, it's the first replacement I've seen that actually works.  I spent.

  The reason why you can not get imported WLMail dbx files is because Folders.dbx must be included in the backup. Manually recover dbx files in OE, you can export them.

  Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode.   Yes, I checked and folders.dbx is here.  In my quest to solve this problem, I found a site where someone had the same problem and found the file has been marked read-only (not the check mark, but the box has been filled).  I checked that and mine was the same way, I correct and it goes back to the box being filled.  I am really confused and might have to find an another e-mail client that I use.  I have a few I need to access important emails.

  If you have access to your old computer, create a new identity.  Import your messages from the old identity.
  If the import without problems messages, then your old OE store folder is ok.
  If the message import, then your old Bank of OE has problems and will not import the messages to another program.

  The properties which means the message are added to the file by Windows to make it possible to find e-mail messages by property (as of and object). If the memory stick is not formatted in NTFS, the properties of these files can be preserved. It is of no real consequence; Windows will just write again when the messages end up on a drive formatted in NTFS. So: either the memory stick format NTFS, or answer Yes to the prompt to copy files without their properties.
