Import or synchronize Google Contacts, better ways?

I am trying to find the best way to import or synchronize the AddressBook to Thunderbird with my Google Contacts.

(a) export to CSV in googlemail web page, and then import this file into AddressBook to Thunderbird. Take care to align the data fields.

(b) use an add-on like Google Contacts or gContactSync to create a direct link. I want to talk about the add-on of the latter; the two are faced with a fundamental mismatch in how googlemail and thunderbird handle street addresses. This approach of synchronization is the best way if you try to keep several synchronized address books. I found it interesting to create a googlemail account only in order to associate an address book of phone connected to my phone, which is not need of all email addresses, mailing address, etc., nor all the contacts I know only an email address, but no phone number.

Hi all, tried search but too generic terms to no real results.

just curious if it is possible to synchronize only contacts with gmail and NO mail & calendar and if so how?

    Thank you.

For a Yes and no answer

You will get duplicates? Somehow. Because the data is the same he'll duplicate things, however due to the way in which the synergy feature works it links these data. So if you look at your contacts at a first glance it will not look like you have duplicates, but get into real contact will show that you have that same contact in several places. Also the data will appear only duplicated on your Pre not in Google itself.

If you're in transition to Google, you should get a few contacts that aren't in Google there.

Once get you them in Google follow these steps to clear your palm and then profile again if you do not get the "duplicate" contacts (of course assuming you want to do this, you erase your whole palm profile and you will have to add everything back on the phone, the Contacts are in google if )

Follow these steps to delete your backup

    1. start backup
    2. turn off backup
    3. a backup
    4. launch Device Info
    5. Select reset options
    6. partial Erase
    7. reconnect in existing profile
    8. Add your Google account to get your contacts
9 remove contacts from palm desktop.
    10. run DTA if you need to get the calendar or any other thing of palm desktop

Make sure you have checked your palm profile before performing the steps above

  • synchronization of address book with Google Contacts

Palm said that we can synchronize the address book with Google Contacts, but I can't. It is supposed to be a preference in address book which allows you to choose Google, but I can't. After reading the Apple forums, I feel that this feature is available only when an iPhone is plugged.

If it is actually feasible, what is the procedure?

(Mac OS 10.5.7 AddressBook 4.1.2.) My Google sync works in iCal/Pre matching.

    THX.

You are referring to the synchronization of your desktop Mac address book to Google, correct Application?

You will need to hack a bit to allow that, without an iPhone:

    http://Lifehacker.com/393855/enable-Google-contact-sync-without-an-iPhoneiPod-touch

It does not require that you used an iPod before on your mac.  Since the front looks like an iPod, you should be good to go.

(I seriously need to upgrade to 10.5. Sheesh.)

  • Is there a better way? importing a .mp3 at the presentation file complete?

Is not sure if this is even possible, but I have a .mp3 file I try to import into Captivate. The problem is the file is a large file and those who speak in it is not able to save individual audio clips so I can import in each slide. My thought is to import the entire audio file for each slide and then the change until just the relevant section within each slide. Is there a better way to do?

    Hello

Normally when you import an audio clip longer than the slide you're importing to, Captivate offers one more option to spread the music across multiple slides.

  • Google Contacts do not appear to sync or not all download on my Palm Pre contacts

    UPDATE (with solution):

    @darqmatter noted:

No amount of purging of contacts has worked for me. I had to remove all instances of contacts with special characters in names (I had 3 symbol #). After that, and 10 minutes from time to analyze contacts, number of contacts read the same thing as "My Contacts" on Google. See also: http://forums.palm.com/t5/webOS-Software/Google-sync-partial/m-p/259891/highlight/false

This was confirmed by @spouse1775: SOLVED! I searched my google contacts for #, & and *.

It seems that synergy has a problem with the contacts that contain characters such as #, & and *. I don't know that there are others. I don't know if it is only in the name field or other fields in a contact as well, but it is a start.

Hello Palm, this is a bug. This must be fixed. Contacts should be able to contain these characters.

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I struggled with this for hours. The new information that I added to a contact on my Palm Pre (my default Google account setup program) do not seem to update my Google matching online contacts. Try to solve the problem, I've completely wiped out my phone and started around. When my account completely downloaded the Google contacts to my pre, I noticed that many of the contacts came down. Whenever I deleted and added the Google account, the same number of contacts came down, always less than the total amount.

After reading a few posts, I found that others understand that spurious characters in a Google contact cause synchronization problems. So, I exported my Google contacts in Outlook CSV files so Google CSV and imported into a blank Google account. Add each of the new Google account on my Pre came back with a number different contacts downloaded, but always lower total online.

Finally, I figured out that export a vCard out of Google Contacts "cleaned" information. When I exported all of my Google Contacts vCard file and imported into a blank Google account, Google downloaded on my pre perfectly all the contacts in this new account and synchronization now seems to work again.

NOTE: the vCard DO NOT maintain the designation of Group contact Google. You need to export a vCard by group and import them into Google by specifying the group in which you want to import the contacts.

I hope this helps. No need to erase your phone or delete your backup profile.

    It worked for me:

    Steps to follow:

    1. remove your Google contacts from your Palm Pre app account

    2. sign in to your Google account and access Contacts

3 export contacts by choosing "Who do you want to export?" and select "vCard file" for "what export format?

    4. save a file of all contacts or a file by group

5 remove all contacts in your Google account online

6 import the vCard in your Google account files, assign to the Group during the import phase, if applicable

    7. Add your Google account as an account in the contacts application on your Palm Pre

No amount of purging of contacts has worked for me. I had to remove all instances of contacts with special characters in names (I had 3 symbol #). After that, and 10 minutes from time to analyze contacts, number of contacts read the same thing as "My Contacts" on Google.

  • BackFlip: Fails to synchronize GMAIL Contacts

The functionality of google on Motorola Backflip mail claims it synchronizes your contacts with you google mail contacts. None of my phone contacts are being synced GMAIL contacts. Well, my GMAIL contacts are sent to my phone.

Synchronization of calendar and e-mail is functional entirely 2 lanes.

OK, so the phone is not designed to SYNCHRONIZE all your sources of contact. Contacts you want in GMAIL should be created in GMAIL or on the phone. If you import contacts from other sources, they stay connected to other sources.

If Facebook contacts will synchronize NOT in Gmail. Gmail and Facebook contacts will remain separate, but blur join them so you don't see duplicates. But Facebook contacts will not be synchronized on to Gmail. If you wan't your Outlook contacts in Gmail, you can export them to CSV and then import them into Gmail.

The phone and MotoBlur are designed to converge the various sources of data, but not them are trained in systems of origin. Facebook will import all your contacts and find them, but a lot of people don't do that. Many want all their contacts facebook in their departmental contacts - so the Moto phones take the highway - they show you all the data and the link. If you create a new contact on the phone, you choose which (or all) database gets the new contact, but the phone will not put your Outlook in Google contacts or your Facebook contacts in labor.

  • Can not sync google contacts phone contacts

I tried several times to link my accounts to what is obvious (settings > sync accounts) to empty the cache. It seems that the only way I can get them into the google contacts is to enter them manually which is crazy. It seems to be a common problem, but I still have to find a solution. Any ideas?

You should try to export your contacts to SD card and import the file that was created on the SD card to your gmail account. Once they are imported that use delete duplicates in contacts gmail and they must be synchronized.

  • Synchronization of Contacts between multiple PC Windows 7

How can I synchronize the Windows 7 Contacts between two PC other than by placing the Contacts on OneDrive folder?

When you synchronize using OneDrive works, the problem is that iTunes seems to be unable to synchronize Windows Contacts with iPhone/iPad unless the Contacts folder is in its conventional location in the folder of the user; I'm looking at a way to keep the file Windows Contacts of this place, but still sync with another PC.

    I would like suggestions.

Because you are using an iPhone/iPad, have you thought about the synchronization of your contacts by using an online service such as iCloud, Outlook.com, Google Contacts, etc.. ?  She'd keep your contacts in sync across all your devices easily and reliably.

  • Smartphones from blackBerry Storm 2 (9550) synchronization of Contact with the Desktop Version 5.0.1.18 and Outlook 2003

I just took my Blackberry last week and now in train to synchronize my contacts and have problems. I put the desktop software to replace the device to Outlook. That's why destroy all contacts on the device.

All my contacts are sorted the name, first name. By examining the details of the synchronization (before it actually applies), I see that all the contacts on the camera original should be deleted (it's good!). But I find that some of the contacts are ignored and will not be added. In addition, some family names are now given names, and vice versa. When I have a John & Cathy'sname and a surname of Jones (for example), John is added as the first name, & is added in the middle and Jones is added under the family name. Nothing after the & is ignored.

Is there a solution to this problem of synchronization? Are there better synchronisation software out there?

    Thank you

    Dwyne

In talking with the Blackberry expert at the local Verizon store, I find the problem and the solution in the following way:

Using the example "John and Cathy Jones '... The sync software looks at the name of Outlook in the format of "first-name vacuum vacuum-name last-name '. So when white was found during the synchronization, it assumes the & is the name of way and he picks up the last characters to the family name. I had to fix all my names "JohnCathy Jones" or "John & Cathy Jones". Two of these formats properly synchronized. However, the synchronization software does not care what is in the field of 'Society' Outlook, all characters are synchronized.

    Problem solved.

  • Can I synchronize my contacts with hotmail, like calendar

Just like the SNYC with Hotmail calendar feature I want to synchronize my contacts with Hotmail, so that I have all of my information in one place. Is this possible? Import contacts form the SIM is a long tedious method and has a limited capacity.
    Concerning
    Ravindra Bhat

Apparently, this feature is already implemented in v1.1 .
You should expect that your manufacturer of device supports this version or use fastboot to install yourself.

For now, I use vcardin on the market to import contacts to vcard (s) on a memory card.

  • 18.0 R Firefox displays my Google Contacts, but when I click on a contact, I can't open it. I'm unable to click and open any component of Contacts.

I use Firefox 18.0 and Windows 7. Google Contacts support contacts, however, I am unable to open and edit individual contacts. Similarly, when I click on groups, more, try to go to the next page of contacts, change my settings (gear icon) or which group I consult, nothing happens. I am able to scroll the displayed contacts page, it works when I click the icon 'all or nothing' next to the icon of the Group and the work when I click on new group and import Contacts in the lower left of the screen. I deleted the cached Web content and deleted cookies. At the opening of the Google Contacts on this computer in Internet Explorer or on my other computers using Firefox R 18.0 it works fine. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thank you!

I ran through the procedures described and found the Yontoo "Runtime" interfered with my Google Contacts extension. Interestingly, that had been installed on my computer in may but it is only this week that there was a problem (that's a coincidence for upgrade to Firefox R 18.0). I disabled the extension and removed the program Yontoo which some sites suggest is malware. I am at a loss to explain how it was installed on my computer.

  • MOTOBLUR contact information of Google Contacts

MOTOBLUR grabs like birthday and mail electronic and other information for networking sites like facebook social... Is it possible to have this information synchronized on the Google Contacts? If yes how can we achieve this.

If you use the Google app to set up Mail it does not work through MOTOBLUR, the phone is smart enough to see the resemblance and bind the contact at a local level, so it shows up on the phone as a contact. Excellent comments, but for now we don't synchronize information from Facebook to Google.

You can configure a Gmail account for synchronization via MOTOBLUR, but it will not sync contacts or calendar information. In addition, the feature when you set up a generic account is not the same as through the installation of Google app.
