Import text to RTF

I have a file that I imported from a Word document converted to RTF. The file came across fine, but I have a problem. The first paragraph in the word document has a Section embedded in the page numbering in Word number. Now I have the complete file, and I've converted all the paragraphs numbered to something easier to follow in FrameMaker.

But, the end of the text stream has the former numbered paragraph automatically assigned to it and I can't understand how to assign this paragraph a paragraph of the body to get rid of the auto-numbering. I tried to assign a paragraph format different to the paragraph in the selected text, without the selected text, I tried to add this paragraph in the catalogue style, then changing the paragraph tag. I can't get that last paragraph assigned to a different style.

Help, please!

Chris Hembel

Assuming that you have opened the RTF in framework, not a not import it as an OLE object, try saving the image as a MIF file to clean up the hidden characters and nonstandard Word detreus. Then open the MIF in setting and see if you can apply another paragraph, as the body tag.

If this does not work, try to select all the text in the MIF file and copy to a new file of frame.

See you soon,.

    And when the Helvetica World changes I get this:

    It is always best to use local formatting styles. Build one model on another can be confusing, but it is also a way to pawerful to edit an entire document with one step.

    If you have isolated words that the style must be different from the surrounding paragraph, create and apply a character style. The syle of character has no need to include the family of fonts (or any other specific attribute) unless it's something that you want to keep, or in other words, you can create a bold or italic style that does nothing more than change the font bold or italic style, leaving the face, size and color intact. The big advantage of this local formatting is that the character style is preserved when you change a paragraph style, so if your editor says to change the base of Jenson to Garamond font, italic text style will also change Jenson italic Garamond italic. Local formatting will be required to change each case separately.

    I did not follow the posts Spanish very well - my Spanish is very rusty - but it sopunded as if you are having problems with stories imported. This is typical rather than the exception. Most of the authors are able to use the styles correctly. All long document experts I know use find/replace (usually in a script) to find a local formatting such as bold or italics, and replace it with a character style, and then they apply parapgraph styles and finally remove the formatting all the premises. It's actually a very quick process.

  • Import text data into text with script level file fields

    I use Adobe 9 professional and have a level of javascript file import text into the existing fields of a pdf document.

    There are several fields with multiple lines of data to import.

    The folder level script does not work (but there is no error in the console showing when operating)

    I manually tested the file opening text with the following code in the console and the text file opens and fills text fields, so the text file must be correct:

    this.importTextData ();

    The following code is the folder level script that does not work:

    function mailmergeFunction()

    {

    Import the first line of data of "Mailmerge.txt".

    this.importTextData ("of/h/mailing/Jo Smith Things / Mailmerge.txt", 0)

    If (typeof cnt == 'undefined') cnt = 0;
    this.importTextData ("of/h/mailing/Jo Smith Things / Mailmerge.txt", cnt ++ % 4)

    }

    app.trustedFunction (mailmergeFunction);

    app.addToolButton ({cName: "Mailing", cExec: "mailmergeFunction ()", cTooltext: "Mailing", cEnable: true, NPO: 14});

    If anyone can please provide assistance, it will be more appreciated thanks.

    Try using an app.beginPriv () just before the importTextData statement and a statement of app.endPriv () afterwards. Don't forget to restart Acrobat after you change the JavaScript file.

  • Application of imported text styles

    Hi guys, im brazilliam sorry for bad English, but I have an awnser

    I Diagram a guide business , they have something called a sign (letreiro) , this sign has 3 lines. The first line is entirely capital, and the third is standard, the second is compressed.

    what I want not know is so have means of import text (normally we have some 400 sign, 1200 lines) in the 6 InDesignand automate the style for these lines 3

    Is something like this:

    heart-vintage-seamless-pattern.jpg

    this method would be facilitate a LOT for me

    Thank you

    Your English is very good - much better than my Portuguese

    There are several ways to do so. One way is to simply import all the text normally. Make three paragraph styles and set the Style in each of them. So FirstLine has the next Style of say, say the next Style of dictations and dictated was the next first line Style. Select all text at once, then click the first name of style in the paragraph Styles Panel, and then click "Apply FirstLine, then next Style."

  • Import text from a txt file.

    Hey guys,.

    I'm looking for a way to import text from a .txt file, but I'm totally lost. If someone could point me in the right direction would be great

    Hi Prails
    This script is basically what you asked:

    #target illustrator

    main #targetengine

    function copyText() {}

    text var file is File.openDialog ('select file');.

    If (! textFile.exists | app.documents.length == 0) {}

    return;

    };

    textFile.open ("r");

    var txtContent = textFile.read ();

    textFile.close ();

    var doc = app.activeDocument;

    var textItem = doc.textFrames.add ();

    textItem.contents = txtContent

    };

    copyText ();

    Basically what you need to do is to declare the text file, open, read and close it. Then, you create a new text element in the Illustrator document and write content once caught in the text element.

    You can continue to work with the variable 'textItem' in my example script if you want to set properties such as size, text color, position and so on. Also, if you wish, replace the first line of the function var textFile = new file ("" ~ / Desktop/Test.txt ' "); textFile var = File.openDialog ("select the file"); so the script opens a dialog box asks you the file you want to copy the content.

    Hope to be helped

  • Problem importing text

    I'm trying to import text into Muse. I converted a Word document to a doc. txt, but it will not be imported correctly. Quote points, dashes, etc. are imported as capital N or O, with an accent above. For example, the following paragraph comes out like the one below.

    "We started with was in fact intended 10bhp and 10kg, but then engineers began to do their homework and we realized that we could go further." We were pleasantly surprised to find more power - and because we were reorganizing the whole engine we have not just designed to achieve the objective, we have designed an engine that makes the best ever use technology in a 1200cc twin engine.

    OLE target, we started with was done 10bhp and 10kg, but then the engineers began to do their homework and we realized that we could go further. We were pleasantly surprised to find more power N and because we were reorganizing the motor Assembly we did just not designed to achieve this goal, we have designed an engine that makes the best ever use technology in a 1200cc twin engine.

    Any ideas please?

    Word saves the text using so-called encoding platform. Muse expects the text to be encoded in Unicode (UTF-8). Most modern applications fully supports Unicode, but the word seems to be late in this regard. If you save the text in a file .txt from Word, and then open in TextEdit (on Mac) or Notepad (on Windows), you can re - register from there and specify the Unicode UTF-8 encoding.

  • Import Text Styles vs

    Hi guys,.

    I pretend to work nice and tidy with text. I decided to work with paragraph Styles, as much as I can. I'll use

    Police: Mercury text

    Size: 10.5 pt

    Attack: 13 leading

    Font style: ordinary

    However, the word file has not a consistent formatting Style and include various italics and "BOLD" fonts inside. If I import the text, I can select all and then apply the text of mercury that will allow me to keep my italics and bold. I can't do a paragraph style without attributing a regular/italic or bold style to the breast. Any paragraph Style will replace my imported bold italic and so on.

    Maybe there's a simple solution for this. Any ideas?

    When you import text into InDesign, imeddiately run the script on the text. It will apply styles of characters for the text. Then, just apply your paragraph style.

  • Import text objects, editing in artificial intelligence, by copying the interactions, etc.

    First of all, I would like to congratulate the Flash Catalyst team and the work that they have done so far. He is off to a very good start, and I can't wait for the finished product. A little history: I am currently working on the design of user interface for a software tool. I am running CF on Snow Leopard (MacBook Pro with 3 GHz/4 GB RAM). I was looking for something to take my design of the Illustrator, bring it to life in a working prototype, circulate comments and eventually pass on to developers to use as a reference (they write C++ in Visual Studio). I have just a few questions/requests/bugs to appear:

    (1) when I import text from Illustrator objects, Flash Catalyst is unable to maintain the base changes. Am I missing something? I read that unique features for CF gave priority, and this other standard options formatting in Illustrator or Photoshop would follow in future versions. Is - that one of these options (as well as stroke, masks of clipping, etc.) that will eventually be supported? Or do I have to submit it as a feature request?

    (2) in addition, it seems that the grid of the CF is not as many pixels as the grid to HAVE it. When I import small objects that correspond to the guides, they become blurred - it's like fitting 10 people on 9 chairs. The gaps and overlaps appear. This will be reconciled in later versions? Or do I have to submit a feature request for this?

    (3) when I select a group of objects and click Edit > edit in Adobe Illustrator CS4, a dialog box appears with the title "Edit in Adobe Illustrator. Here's an exclamation point in a bubble and text "Selection of editing in Adobe Illustrator... ». The problem is, the box never goes away, and nothing happens in Illustrator. Am I missing something? Is this a bug? This feature works for other people?

    (4) I read about this elsewhere, but I have not found a concise answer. CF does support the copy of component interactions? By example, if I copy and paste a custom component, or if I export a component library and then import it, it loses all of its defined interactions. Is there a work around? Or plans to implement?

    (5) < Deleted > found in 'ideas '.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sponce,

    Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to dive into your questions:

    (1) catalyst should maintain base shifts to import. Our goal is a complete fidelity with the original work. If you publish a file HAVE that has this issue, I can file a bug (unless it's been fixed since Beta 2, which is quite possible - we made many improvements to import fidelity).

    Also, I wanted to clarify the thing you discover more complex "formatting options". WHEN you import the PS, or FXG, the work should appear exactly as it did in the original tool (modulo very small differences). However, catalyst can not supported the MODIFICATION of more sophisticated objects or properties (masks, complex gradients, paths, HAVE mesh warp, etc.). This is where 'Edit in Illustrator': you can pop at work in to, make changes there and then back to FC.

    (2) this can happen in some cases:

    (A) the reader Flash has a rendering engine of different text that HAVE, this text may look different. If it is critical for you, you can choose to convert the text to outlines when importing text.

    (B) alignment of the pixels: I supports the investment object subpixel very accurate because it can produce for print (where pixel doesn't really count). However, these objects blurry when displayed on a computer screen (where import pixels). You can see this simply by drawing a rectangle in artificial intelligence at 100% zoom. Objects in CF should be aligned with the boundaries of the pixels because it generates exclusively to a computer monitor. When you import and manipulate the work CF it automatically snaps to pixel boundaries. That's good because your fuzzy rectangle will become blurred, but it is not very good because small tedious objects seem not quite right.

    (3) your work should appear in Illustrator, ready to be edited. In Beta 2, it is only supported with Illustrator CS4. What version do you have?

    (4) it is not supported, and we do not have a proposal or plans to support. You must submit your proposal on the ideas site: http://ideas.adobe.com/labs

    (5) is not supported, but it is a good idea, so you should put it on the site of ideas. You can encode up to this behavior in Flash Builder, but you'll have to dive into coding.

  • Import text & formatting

    Hi all

    I'm carrying a book with CS5. I have PDFs of old books which I am reset the text.

    To get the text I need I use acrobat pro to record the chapters as documents RTF in order to preserve the

    either italic and bold formatting.

    When I import in indesign I can get them with rather than formatting iin, but once I have use one of

    My paragraph (via overide) styles I lose all this information.

    Can anyone advice?

    Thank you very much

    Matthew

    If you lose local formatting overrides, you must be apply paragraph styles and say ID to remove the local formatting. That said, the best approach here is probably to assign a character style to each type of local formatting and apply it to the text before you apply paragraph styles. There are actually a few scripts circulating here that will do this for you - analyze all this, find variations, create a style, then apply it as needed. One of the best is preptext Jongware. Newbie question. I was importing Microsoft Word text using the Clipboard. In other words, I'm going to open up Microsoft Word, open my document, all select, copy and then go to InDesign and paste. InDesign me give a block of text with my text and I just resize the columns. The text is available in all weird, and I have to Stylize, of course. Sometimes I get some junk as nonbreaking characters and other hidden characters that screw me until I tell me what happens. My question is: what is the best way to import Microsoft Word text that will introduce mistakes least? Thank you.

    Much better way to do this is to save your text as Doc, Docx or RTF. And use the file > command place in indesign to bring it. And if you check the Import Options in the same window where you choose a file, you can decide how you want to place your text - formatted, unformatted etc...

    Are your pictures, PSD files or in another graphic format, which supports transparency and layers? Opening does not support layers, and so the graphic layers may appear incorrectly in Aperture.

  • Import text with italics

    When I import a Word text in Indesign I italic format all manually like styles, which is quite tedious, because otherwise Indesign does not recognize them. I however just got a text by a professional translator where italics are recognized by Indesign without them being defined as styles in Word or Indesign. Does anyone know why this is?

    Best practice is to use a paragraph style, and if you need an emphasis somewhere, use a character style, which he seems to understand you. It's been a while since I had to import Word files on a regular basis, as I remember that the problem was not that the italics have been set locally (rather than with character styles), but rather that the person has used fake italics in Word with a policy that did not have an italic version. I could be wrong, but I think that if you set locally italic in Word using a real italic font, you can still keep these italics when they are imported into InDesign, but if you want maximum control, you should create an italic character style in InDesign and skim the text and apply it to the local italic.
