  Default LR stores all changes in the catalog file, not in the pictures. So if you have a backup of your original catalog you will need to copy on the newly rebuilt system and open it in LR.   The option to "Import suspected duplicates" has been deleted since the last release of Lightroom CC 2015.2.1.

  However for re-import images in Lightroom, you need to rename the images in Lightroom and then import them.

I imported a test through apples picture Capture photo and then after I did it I tried to import this NEF file in LR and it worked. So then I tried the rest of the photos directly from my camera to LR. For some reason, it works now. I wish I knew why he had this glitch. Thanks for your reply.

  You can reset develop settings applied to the video in the library view in section rapid development on the right sidebar (reset all). My guess is that a preset with a change in the balance of whites got applied to your video. Make sure that the popup of the white balance to develop quick says "under fire."

  No, the files are not automatically sent to the creative cloud when you import them into Lightroom. In order to have images in the cloud of Adobe creative, it must create a collection in Lightroom, choose the images you want to share via Lightroom online or via Lightroom Mobile.   But storing on the external drive is only useful if you access Lightroom with catalog even on other computers too.

  By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

  Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

  But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

  Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

  Yes, you can delete the catalog, and it will not delete your images, once you start with the new catalogue, you can select a folder under the source you want to import.

  You can uncheck the images that you do not want to import into Lightroom.

  You can use an external hard drive to get all the images from your old computer to the new, then import into Lightroom.
