Impossible to find out my home network due to Norton Firewall.
Hi all, I have uninstalled and removed all possible traces of Norton 360 to computer, or at least thought I had, by using the uninstall program, and then the "research - including all the hidden files that are located on other items norton/symantec that I CUT, but ny 8 NICs poster always my XP computer is protected by Norton Firewall"»» I tried all of the resources that I know to delete/disable the firewall, but I can't find it on my computer. Even after attempts at comprehensive troubleshooting, I have my XP can't be found on my home network. I am now quite sure that he is the thief (spurios?) Norton firewall that is causing the problem. Can anyone help to locate and remove from my XP. Thank you. Train tired O.
Hi michaelnewitt,
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- When was the last time it was working fine?
- What happens when you try to access the computer on the network?
Method 1
I suggest that you remove Norton of the computer with the Norton removal tool completely and check if the problem persists.
Method 2
If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you start the computer in safe mode with network mode and check if the problem persists.

How can I find out how much network filter drivers I'm using Windows 7 and uninstall if too many
Told to look for the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/network next, I can't. I clicked on start, click Run, type regedit, OK, but still can't find it
Apparently, there's a key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\MaxNumFilters
which indicates the maximum number allowed. In addition, if you look at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\ {4d36e974-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}.
Each entry corresponds to a possible filter.
In my case, I had 13 filters, but the MaxNumFilters was only fixed at 8! Some installs (as Virtual PC) will not end if you have 13 or more.

Impossible to find D110a on wireless network
My printer D110a abruptly stopped being found on my network wireless from my computer (iMac, OSX 10.7.5 operating system). The printer says wireless network test report it is connected to the correct network (the same as the iMac), but the computer always says that it can't find it. I reinstalled the latest drivers from the HP site, but still no joy
Any ideas? My network provider is Comcast

Ben
Turning off the printer, turning the router off. Power on the router, wait 2 minutes. Turn on the printer. The printer connect now?

Greetings,
I am trying to download the software of the network and the process fails with the following error:
C:\Documents and Settings\Sybase\Local Settings\Temp; C:\Windows\Temp could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred.
Try saving to a different location
However the program I cannot choose another...
Help!
Kind regards
Jean-Pierre
Halima,
Thanks for the reply.
1. what browser you use to download the files?
I have been using Mozilla. Later, I used IE and had better luck.
However, I have disabled Java in Mozilla.
2 when was the last time it was working fine?
Before the latest update of Java? I'm really naïve.
3. it happens with all programs you download?
Yes.
I think I'm good now, but will follow your instructions for debugging if it persists and will let you know.

Please help me identify anti virus and personal firewall on my computer software. I don't know where to find the information required for the notification of security
Since you have posted in Forum Vista, I will assume that you are using the Vista operating system.
You can get this information by navigating to the 'Start' menu and selecting 'Security Center' in the 'Control Panel', then you should be able to see what is running (antivirus/antimalware) under the tab "Malware Protection".

Original title: network printing
my laptop (Vista) can't find my printer home network connected to my computer (XP) on the network. any advice?
Hi Ihawktoo,
1. don't you update the printer drivers for Windows Vista?
2. were you able to print on Vista before with no problems?
Share a printer requires a few steps.
Make sure you have shared the printer that is installed on the Windows XP computer.
Open file and printer sharing and share the printer.
You can check the following items and check if it helps to solve the problem.
Troubleshoot file and printer sharing
Hope this information is useful.

I had a network that worked very well with three 2 computers running Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home Edition 1. Suddenly, the network has just stopped allowing certain communications giving the above error message (I have another thread address with XP to Vista computers). The main computer with XP Pro, I'll call A, the second computer with XP Pro, I'll call B and third with XP Home will be C. All computers can share files and printers then without any changes to the system that occurred the following:
A can access the documents and printers on B and C
B may NOT have access to documents or printers on one, but access to documents and printers on C
C cannot have access to the documents on one, but CAN access A printer and CAN access the documents and printers on B
When access is denied error message is displayed:
"\\A\My documents is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command. "(\\A\ being the computer that I am trying to access)As I said access from all computers on this network was working fine a week ago and there has been absolutely no changes made to the network. I checked the following
1. workgroup name on all computers are the same
2. file and printer sharing are enabled for all computers.
3. all computers may been from each computers just denied in some cases. The firewall that runs on all three machines is AVG and there were no changes to the one last week, but I checked that sharing is allowed.
I even tried to run the Configuration Wizard from the network on all computers to see if it works, but the same exact problems occur after doing this.
I met this problem now THREE times. I can't believe that I'm the only one who has this problem and I can't believe that there isn't a solution for it. None of the Microsoft documentation has even a hint of a solution for this specific problem.
I need a solution that closes completely the network at my church, and they cannot afford to buy printers and others for each of their computers.
This error message is misleading. See article Knowledge Base Microsoft Antivirus software may Cause Event ID 2011 for a likely solution, specifying a value of IRPStackSize 15 on A computer.

Original title: cannot add homegroup printer
Cannot add printer homegroup. I tried everything I can think of without success. I have laptop which is part of my home group who can't create a link to a printer attached to another computer. The search for the printer does nothing. When I try to add manually, when I click on the computer that hosts the printer, I get the following:
"[Computer SCIENCE] is not available. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The specified network provider name is invalid. The problem seems to exist in the computer on which I am trying to add the printer, not the host, as I was able to add another computer to the host without problem.Help would be appreciated.Thank you.Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the quick response.
I suggest to change firewall security settings, or disable the security software on the system and try to access the location.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
For more information, you can visit the link below where the client came the similar problem.
Hope this information is useful.

What does this message mean? I get when I click on the icon to evaluate files on another of our computers. "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found. »
The other computer has not been configured to allow remote access to this folder from your account. You'll want to go to this other computer, right click on the folder that is shared and go to properties, then set the appropriate security settings to allow access.

How can I find the network key for my home network?
I have just purchase a new laptop and access the internet via my home network. The new laptop wonder the network key. Where can I find that on my computer at home? I had someone else set up the network for me.
The network key or WEP/WPA key, you should be able to find on your router or access point. Open your browser and type the IP address of your router to access wireless and search of WEP security or the protection of the network area. Quite a few routers/access points are configured as 192.168.0.1, that intellectual property then give it a shot in your browser by default. If it is by default, the name of user/pass is always likely admin/admin or admin and then empty password.
I hope this helps! -
Try to share files. OIOS sees files shared of the laptop, but the laptop cannot see the office. Have following settings 'walk' on two PCs... network discovery, file sharing, public folder sharing, and media.
Password protected sharing is 'off' in both computers. Printer sharing is disabled on laptop computer (not connected printers)... any help? Here are the procedures for Vista with Windows7 network layout that can help:http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Windows-7-Understanding-Network-Administration-Configuration.html.
Here is another article on home networks (with several links to related articles which must all be considered - as well as others, you will find in the related articles) to help you better understand the home networks: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Setting-up-a-home-network. If it's for Vista, much of it applies to Windows7 (although there may be some differences that should be addressed in the previous article).
Here is an article on the networking of the different versions of Windows:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-Windows.
I hope this helps. If necessary, start from scratch using these procedures and see if that helps.
Good luck!
