Impossible to uninstall Skype - Invalid driver J and come error 1603

Hello

I searched the web for the multitude of error message I get when I try to download the latest version of Skype 5.0. The main problem is to uninstall the old one - which I can't even do it manually. I tried to run in safe mode and start windows installer, but nothing works.

  • Impossible to uninstall Skype

So, I wanted to update to the latest version of Skype, but every time I press the update now and he says: I can not install it because a version of Skype is already installed. So I went to add/remove a program, and it showed no Skype. First I went online and tried to find a solution, but none of them worked, so I asked my friend and he said that he had the same problem, but he managed to update Skype. He said he deleted all the files and it worked, so I tried it. He said again I can not install the new version and it does not appear in my programs, the files are not in my recycling bin, I can't cancel delete and now I can't use Skype at all. If someone could try to help me would be great, I use my Skype to communicate with people who have purchased my GFX art and I need to talk to them so that they don't think I'm scamming them.

    Hi FSXguy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    First thing to make sure is to start with the installation in the administrator account and also;

Method 1: Verify that the Windows Installer service is set to automatic

1 Windows Vista or Windows 7

Click Start, type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the list of Services, double-click Windows Installer.
    3. in the properties of Windows Installer dialog box, click Automatic in the startup type list.
    4. click on start, click on apply and then click OK.
    5. start the installation of the software.
    If this makes no difference then;

Method 2: Perform a clean boot and clear the Temp folder

When you start Windows as usual, some programs start automatically and run in the background. These programs may include antivirus and system software that may interfere with the installation of the product. When you perform a clean boot before you start the installation, you prevent these programs from starting automatically. To perform a clean boot, follow the steps appropriate to your version of Windows.

Step 1: Restart the computer by using a clean boot

Note to complete this procedure, you must be logged in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from performing this procedure.

    1. open System Configuration.

    Windows Vista or Windows 7

    a. click on start
    (b) in the search box, type System Configuration.
    c. in the list programs, click System Configuration.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. Windows Vista or Windows 7

Under Selective startup, clear the following check boxes:
    Load System o services
    startup items load o
    o use original boot configuration
    4. click on the Services tab.
    5. Click to select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    6. click OK and then click on restart.

Step 2: Delete the Temp folder

To clear the temporary files folder, follow these steps:

    Windows Vista or Windows 7

    1. on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start
type folder in the search box, and then click Temp in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. from the Edit menu, click Select all.
    3. on the file menu, click on delete.
    4. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    5. try to start the FSX program. If you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, remove the program, and then reinstall the program.

Let us know if the information helped reinstall the game or for any further assistance.

    Hello

A Windows Installer patch (.msp file) is a file used to provide updates for Windows Installer applications. The fix is a stand-alone package that contains all the information needed to update the application.

A hotfix package contains updates the actual application and describes which versions of the application can receive the fix.
