In plain English please can someone tell me how I can get more space on my PC?

Hi I run Windows XP, 34.4 GB that I have only 12.4 free GB file system is NTFS. I have Service pack 3.

When I go into add or remove some programs, it seems to last forever. With 4 or 5 year old stuff.

Sometimes, when you install things he'll say «if you already have the old version, you can remove it after installing the newest one...» What I want to know I can do it with service packs?

I clean my pc almost on a daily basis, as removal of games I don't play anymore, but it doesn't seem to make a big difference. so any help on how to get more memory or ram or what ever it's called would I hope be useful. Thank you, John

PS computer is about 6 years old, in the way, and it's a DELL

12 GB of free space is allowed to have.

It is roughly 1/3 of your total hard drive.

so I do not know why 12 GB of free space is not enough for you.

However, if you want more then you can download / move your personal files, such as documents, pictures, music, etc. up on Skydrive from Microsoft site for free.   Then you will have 25 GB of virtual space to store and access your personal files.

In addition, you can always add a second hard drive to the computer.  All computers are shipped with the ability to install secondary hard drives.

If I remember, I saw a 1.5 terabyte of hard drive for sale online on Newegg for about $ 50.   But you will not need such a big big hard drive and I don't think that xp can manage a large hard without him being re-partitioned drive.

However, as you can see, the hard drives are pretty cheap now a days.

There are also portable hard drives as well.   If your pc has usb connectivity, then you can so simply plug and play one of these types too.

By the way, if you decide to add another hard drive, be they internal or external, inform people of the store that your operating system is XP to make sure that the device is compatible.
