inDesign CS5 won't open, which gives error 5.

I have Adobe Creative Suite 5 premium (purchased on disk a few years ago) and then I bought inDesign CS5 (not creative cloud, just by download). It worked on my old computer, but I bought a new computer (iMac - OS X Yosemite 10.10.4) last year and I didn't use inDesign on this computer. I have also used an app (Adobe After Effects) using creative cloud but have no accession of the present, I was doing this on a monthly basis.

When I try to open inDesign, it says: "Configuration error, please uninstall and reinstall the product. If this problem persists... Error: 5 ". But when I try to uninstall it says: "your uninstaller encountered errors. Please try to restart... "I used the cleaner of the Creative Suite from Adobe tool, it seemed to work but don't give me a success message. I also tried to use the cleanup of the CS5 Mac utility. I uninstalled my Adobe Creative Suite 5 to see if that would help. There can be no. I restarted my computer. The problem persists.

I uninstalled creative cloud a few weeks ago because I was not using this. Maybe this has caused a few problems. I have no idea.

Any help I can get is very appreciated! Thank you.

You're getting ripped off. Adobe never contacted people via Skype.

I pass over the powers that be.

  • InDesign CS5 do not open CS4 files

(I work on a Mac Pro Quad - Core Intel Xeon 2.26 GHz). I've upgraded to CS5 last week and ran into a problem with InDesign does not open some files CS4. It does not at all ID CS4 files and I don't see a common factor that tells me why InDesign CS5 opens some and not others. I can always open in CS4 and they are not locked. I made sure that no one else had it open also. The error I get is the following.

Cannot open the document "filename". You may not have permission or the document can be opened already.

I opened the range of information in the finder and the files are not locked and permissions are appropriate. I tried to save the file to my desktop, and still save on the server and it does not want to open it in CS5. These files are shared, we have a file naming convention and storage limited review, trying to find a work around if it is not a fix for this problem.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

WARNING: For a long time Mac user... I know very little except how to connect networks.

We have implemented in order to connect to our server in the window (from our Macs) via AppleTalk and Samba. We have looked in using Samba on several occaisions, but continue to flow upward with reasons we should not / cannot use only of Samba. Sometimes, if we have a permissions problem with connecting via AppleTalk, we can connect to the same server via Samba and do not have the same permissions issues. We are also limited to files with 24 characters in the file name when write us a file on the server using AppleTalk. I have not found a limit when writing to a file on the server, when it is connected via Samba. (I tested a 100 characters in length file name and didn't see a need to go higher.)

We have just updated our computers for CS5 to test and found the same problem with not being able to open most files from the server. We can copy the file on our hard drive, work on it, save it, then copy it to the server. But if I connect server via Samba, I can work on the file without any problems. From what I read above, I guess than that, still, has something to do with the number of characters in the file name. I'm not advising all start using Samba - less long-term. (Once again, we did some research and found several reasons we still use AppleTalk.) But it could be a temp fix for some of you, if this is possible on your networks.

I would also add that the temporary file generated by CS4 had a tilde at the beginning of the name. The temporary files generated by CS5 have a slash and a tilde at the beginning of the name. We had not this problem in CS4 work since Windows Server at all. The slash can be the death blow.

To the 6 d, you need Camera Raw 7.3, which is available for CS6. You will need to use the free dng converter and save a version of Camera Raw 5.X to PS CS5 can open it.

  • CS4 Extended won't open - shows just error message 148: 3

I used CS4 for many years without problems and even last week.  Today, I tried to open it and received an error message stand alone suggesting I have contact the Adobe Support and quote error 148: 3.  I have a full screenshot (in format PDF or DOC that I can't do JPG) referring to the issuance license.  I checked online and as my record data of the product (Photoshop CS4 Extended) in January 2010 (17th).  I also have the receipt and the key Code.

The support group sent me on the forums, which means that the message should be re-written to point people in the right direction.

I need to solve this problem quickly.  Why my CS4 will not open when he made last week. ??

    Any ideas?

    Hi AndyKirby,

    • Open a Terminal.
    • Copy and paste this command: sudo chmod-r 777 library/Application\ Support / Adobe
    • Press enter and give your password if requested.
    • This should fix the permissions at the origin of this error.
    • Let us know how it worked and mark the correct answer if it did.

    Kind regards

  • Why CS5 won't open the raw files from my Canon SX50 HS?

I always get errors like: "the DNG conversion failed" and "file seems to be a model of camera that is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw", even if I downloaded Adobe DNG Converter 7.3. What I need to do?

You are right in that the camera has been initially supported by Camera Raw 7.3 (and DNG converter 7.3) but CS5 is compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7.

So, you will never be able to open this camera Raw files directly in CS5. To do this, you must either CS6 or any version of cloud.

If you have downloaded the DNG Converter, try the latest version 9.1.1.

The DNG Converter is a stand-alone utility. It is not used with CS5 somehow.

  • InDesign CS5 - problem with open Type fonts

I started using Indesign CS3 after the offer to convert my PageMaker 7 and was very happy to use it so amazing at first, but now became very uncomfortable with Indesign. Then I upgraded to CS4 and everything was a breeze because it perfomed better than CS3. There is no snagging.

A week ago I put once again today in CS5. Almost all my desktop files are now in indesign format after the conversion. However, I opened my recent file I started on CS4 - I found that policies cannot cannot match. My Arial and Arial Narrow (True Type) now can not be read by CS5.

And all of my previous Indesign files are set to True of Type Arial

Why is it so? Can someone helpl.

    Thank you

Have you looked at the menu drop-down style to arial?

BTW, there are two versions of OpenType and Arial is the FTT. But it is an OpenType font.

  • Dreamweaver cs5 won't open in Windows 10

I just bought a new PC with Windows installed 10. I loaded my Adobe Creative cs5 after the computer and all programs except Dreamweaver works fine. Trying to open Dreamweaver the banner appears for a second and then disappears. The program does not load. I did some research in the eyes of adobe and found a patch of 2011 11-0-ALL-set to UPDATE and it worked once, then it will not open again. I have traced my steps without result. I also found a suggestion that scann @! Ed the Admin Cmd, tried in vain. I'm stuck. I use every day the program to update my web site and need a solution.

    Hi Randall,.

It is not opening may be due to compatibility issues.

You can check the system requirements here for cs5 http://www.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/software/dreamweaver5_5/systemreqs.html

  • InDesign CS5 is not opening because of the mistake of LILO plug-in.  Farm of unexpectedly when you select "Preferences".

Need help as soon as possible to repair plug LILO to open a document that has been well until yesterday when LILO error plugin poppped upward.  When preferences is selected, the program will stop.  Help

Sorry, I'm a Windows Guy, so I don't know the ins and outs of the Time Machine (although I could practically do blindfolded with imaging software that I use). I suspect, however, that it can be as easy as opeing the backup, copy the plugin and then paste it into the correct folder in the current state.

Check that there is really a problem of Lilo by trying a new user, though? If you do not get the same error when you log on as a user up, then there is nothing wrong with the ID itself, and your problem is in the user's library.
