Pay attention to the license: If you have a Windows Vista installed OEM license, you must purchase a license for sale retail of Windows XP.

Perform a full backup of all your data: to install Windows XP, you must perform a new installation which is to format your hard drive.
Ensure the availability of drivers and software for Windows XP for all the devices installed on your PC: if necessary, go to the web sites of the manufacturers of the devices and download the latest versions of software and drivers (if you have a portable computer, you must visit the site of the manufacturer of the computer).

Insert the Windows XP CD into the drive and start the PC: when asked, press a key to boot from the CD and follow the instructions on the screen. delete an existing partition, create a new using all the available disk space, the format by using the NTFS file system and install Windows.
