  Instead of using the currentApplicationDescriptor(), I was referencing the module of the application itself using the CoreModuleManager. My init method takes in the ApplicationDescriptor and use it for everything.

  I've had it happen a few times and made a point to press the power button to force it to a black screen as it appears no way to adjust the sensitivity dialer and/or inventory button. I'm doing this, after I connected to a call dialed or received. It seems to be more reliable and didn't turn back, when on a call because I started to use this practice. It has a little now become second nature. Not the best answer but apparently a workaround if you prefer to use the Dialer.
