iPhoto missing.

iPhoto and all my photos have just disappeared. It's hiding somewhere? Can I recover my photos?

What happened before your pictures gone? You upgrade again?

Check, if the iPhoto application is always in your Applications folder.  If so, drag it to the dock.

Is your photo library in iPhoto in your pictures folder?

I just upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan, and iPhoto to Photos. However, now all my categorizations of photos are missing. What has changed since they were here?

Given virtually no details the best guess is that you have several libraries of liPhoto - hold down the option key when launching iPhoto and see how many libraries are there in the window that appears choose library - test each of them to see what it contains

2 - explain that statement in detail

If your iPhoto library is being synchronized by using DropBox is your problem - you can not ever do this - that the iPhoto application can be used to change the iPhoto library - if you put on DropBox and sync, it you destroy

  • Smart albums missing after upgrade to 10.11.1 (iPhoto for pictures)

    Hey people,

I recently updated my OS to 10.11, backup of my iPhoto on an external HD libraries.  After copying the libraries to return to the folder of photos, then raise Photos, just what some of my smart albums are missing.

In addition, many of my pictures seem to have their error keywords.  I tried to redo one of smart albums, and he ended up including lots of pictures which shouldn't be there.  I hit apple - I to get the info on the photo and I noticed several photos in a row that were not supposed to be there all had the same exact keywords which they shouldn't have.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Update:

I did a smart album with one of the wrong keywords and found that the keyword was applied to a very limited number of photos.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac does not in Applications. Tutorial for editing in iPhoto shows by selecting the Adobe software in Applications. Am I missing a step in product registration?

I answered my own question: there is a difference between "Download"and 'install'." Hunting the 'install' (1.5 hrs in my case) and align your passwords, Adobe ID, etc., then install. 15 min. The right choice appears in the Applications. However it is to understand why photo selected for editing in iPhoto does not display in the elements.

  • How to copy photos in the photos on a cd application, it was easy in iPhoto, but seems to be missing

I need to make a cd of the photos app, and he took on the transition of the photos from iPhoto app, it seems. also if you copy high resolution images that have been implemented phot they now photos when you copy them

You must have upgraded from an earlier version of iPhoto because the option was not in any recent versions. In addition, burning a CD in iPhoto burned a library, not copy the pictures, so anyway, the process to engrave pictures on the disc is the same as it's always been:

Export images from the application (file-> export) to a folder on the desktop and burn with the Finder.

also if you copy high resolution images that have been implemented phot they now photos when you copy them

Pretty much depends on what you mean by "copy". Use the Export command and you can choose the size of photos, quality of the files, and many other variables too. This was written for iPhoto, but it's about 95 percent even in Photos.

  • More (but not all) of my iphoto library is missing after upgrade to the Cape of El

Well, I have an older (21.5 "iMac late 2009) and increasing problems with Chrome and Firefox to complain that my system was outdated, I finally put to El Cap.

Then I tried to open iPhoto. Now I've been through the process at least a dozen times, so I don't know what went down the first time, except that he insisted that iphoto was also obsolete and I needed to update.  So I did. But here's the scoop. Since the "[grade up", my library of over 30 k photos shows only 2978 photos. No newer than 2004 data is invisible (in iPhoto).

The original files are still there, inside the packaging of the library.

I tried to repair the database. No luck. Always 2978 pictures visible.

I tried to rebuild the database. No luck. Always 2978 pictures visible.

I tried to launch the disk utility and repaired until the cows back. Always 2978 f & ^ ing pictures.

I tried to install the Photos and migration. 2978 fixed views.

I tried to grab a copy of my iPhoto library before upgrading any using Time Machine. Well, at least I have 2978 photos more. Now if I choose the library recovered, iPhoto tells me 'to open your library with this version of iPhoto, it must first be prepared. To prepare for the library, use the Library upgrade available from Apple iPhoto. »

So I downloaded the valorization of the library. When I run it on the library, it says "cannot open your current library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library by using a newer version of iPhoto. Exit and use the latest version of iPhoto. "Are you f & * ^ ing kidding me?

So I'm stuck in the endless loop of * and seriously questioned why I have so many Apple devices. Yes, Apple, I have been a loyal customer for decades, but this situation is completely unacceptable. Simply create the * valuation in the latest version of iPhoto, or pictures or whatever you're calling this year. It is not as if someone notices a supplement a few MB in the bloatware. At least this way, you can check that the valuation and iphoto agree if a library needs to be upgraded.

(deep breath) OK, here are my questions for the community.

    (1) how can I tell what version of iPhoto created my library? It is not visible in news, and the version of iPhoto that I finally used was wiped out in the process of the stupid El Cap 'upgrade '. If I can't understand this point, it seems more and more like I'm going to need to blow all the metadata for 30 000 images and re - import the originals in Photos.

    (2) any suggestions on decent library management software not Apple photo? As long as I have to do it again, I'm not really interested in staying a customer of Apple.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Chris

The original files are still there, inside the packaging of the library.

Are you sure, iPhoto opens this particular library?

You can see the iPhoto library uses, if you ctrl - click on the title "iPhoto" in the title bar of the iPhoto window.

By default, iphoto opens the library in your pictures folder, if it cannot open your main library.

Where your iPhoto than stored library? It is in the pictures folder?

To open a particular library in iPhoto, double-click it. And then check if iPhoto has really opened this library.

Pictures also won't open the library in your pictures folder, if it cannot open your main library.

  • Missing iPhoto library

Before the upgrade to El captain, I could spend the libraries of iPhoto (referring to my old photos). This option is no longer available and most of the photos of the other library is gone. It's weird, as is random, as I have a few photos of the other library, no more and certainly not all.

I have time Machine, but after that my hard drive crashed in November, for some reason, nothing has been saved before November.

Help? Suggestions? I start to panic,

I thank in advance for any resolution, you may be able to provide.

Photos does not change library control but smoking pictures and run now option key there is the same ability and very nearly the same effort

And PowerPhoto allows you to view several libraries and get the one you want

  • Comments on missing photos after photo import from iphoto library

I use iphoto extensively for my company and I recently updated my OS to El Capitan and discovered that it didn't work anymore.  There was a note which directed me to download the latest version of the app store and when I did it it says there is no download available.

So I tried to go to the pictures.  I started the pictures and it prompted me to import my iphoto library, which is about 70 gigabytes.  Import ran for a long time and all images now appear in the Photos, but there is a problem.

Before the upgrade, when I downloaded photos in iPhoto, they went to a group and have been dated from and prepared accordingly. But I would add notes and/or descriptions so that when I entered a search for specific photos, they came to the top and I didn't need dates. Apparently, when photos have been imported into the new program, they are listed by date and descriptions are gone. Do you know if they're hiding, or if we can find them? Otherwise I have no idea where the first photos are and I have to visually through the 22 000 photos.

If not, is there a way to return to iphoto for El Capitan?

There was a note which directed me to download the latest version of the app store and when I did it it says there is no download available.

Apple sells iPhoto, is more then the tab update of the AppStore works is no longer.  You can update only by reinstalling, see user tip Barney:   cannot be updated iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store)

Apparently, when photos have been imported into the new program, they are listed by date and descriptions are gone.

Are the descriptions of the events?  If you open the sidebar with the albums, (enter the ⌥⌘S - command-option-S key combination), you will see a folder iPhoto events.  It will be an album for each of your events.

See also: How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

If you enter titles and captions for each photo, you will see them in the Panel information for each photo. Titles can also be displayed under thumbnails, if you enable it in the view menu > metadata.

  • Import from iPhoto - Meta-data missing?

I am importing photos from iPhoto in pictures, but it seems that most of the metadata is not transferred.

The process is to select the file-> import in pictures, select the pictures at the bottom of the left sidebar in the dialog box, choose iPhoto-> events and select an event for import.

Transfer photos, and that they retain their location data. But the descriptions, tags, and faces are lost.

Photos had imported the entire iPhoto library originally, but there were a few problems with former segments of the library. (I have not been able to correct some problems, so I am looking to re - import an event at a time, for a couple to organize the reasons and then delete the duplicates) In this import, all the metadata has been chosen. So, it seems possible to import it. But it does not work in this case.

The media browser does not give you the metadata - select photos in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder by checking the boxes of metadata you want in the export dialog - export from iPhoto - and then import these images into pictures

And you never import an iPhoto photo library - you migrate and migration keeps metadata - you only import pictures of libraries
