IPod Classic reeked havoc on my iTunes!  Help!

Can someone help PLEEEEEAASSSSE?

I kept my iTunes library on an external hard drive Lacie for recent years.  From time to time I simply opened my iTunes library, music new dump in and re - sync my iPod classic.  A week ago, I did this and got an error during the synchronization.  The iPod is really old, almost complete, but still works.  Nevertheless, I had to stop the sync, restore the iPod and regain sync.  I did it and everything was fine... or so I thought.

A night or 2 later I went to play a song on my iPod and noticed he wasn't there.  In fact, a very important (and random) part songs were gone from the iPod.   I went into my iTunes library to check and found a large number of songs with the red exclamation points.  I am aware of what that means and has been able to reconnect broken links which gave me about 200 songs which did not work.  The rest seems to be completely DISAPPEARED from my library.  If I go into the files of the album all that remains album files work... NO SONG NO FILES.  I did a spotlight search of title on the HDD for the songs and nothing.  What the * happened?  Miss me him more than 2000 songs.  Very random too.   Some albums have half songs left, a few 1 or 2, some not at all.

Even weirder, is that if I connect to my iTunes library that sits right on my macbook (which is much smaller, but it shares some of the same songs) on a song/artist will play for that whole part of the alphabet.  For example, the song "Blue Sky" of The Allman Bros plays almost each piece separately in the section "A" of my library.  We go to a Beck song for all the songs of 'B' and so on.  Something bad happened?

It could be my madness, but I swear yesterday as he tried everything to flow back to the previous libraries to change my main media folder location, which for a second that I did something that made all these songs to work again.  While I had that on the screen, I selected all the good work tracks and thrown on a flash drive to dump if all goes well in to my iTunes corrupt and all library set. I did, and none of the tracks that I've just spilled on the flash drive appeared.  A bunch of other tracks were there, but they were the songs that I didn't need to fix.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!

HELP PLEASE!

-Kirk

Since this problem noticing, you have restarted your Mac?

iTunes, media synchronization is from iTunes library to iPod, so it is unlikely that the iPod "reeked havoc" on your iTunes library.  More likely, there was (existing but undiscovered) on your external drive and sync data corruption caused the problem on the iPod (a week ago).

Run disk utility, select the disk volume (indented under the player) in the disk utility sidebar.  Click first aid.  You can also do the first aid with the drive selected in the sidebar, but a problem is more likely to be detected by checking the volume in this case.  You can also check the internal drive of the MacBook.

You use Time Machine to backup your user data?  If this isn't the case, you are using other backup methods, such as cloning?

My macbook release 10.9.5. iTunes (version 12.1) does not recognize my iPod classic Model # MB147LL version 1.2.2PC. I tried to reboot, reset, update, but it will not recognize to sync the iPod. My computer recognizes the iPod but not iTunes.

The latest version of iTunes (12.5.1) should work on OS X 10.9.5.  Is there a reason that you are using an older version of iTunes.  A classic iPod should work with even older versions of iTunes, but there may be a problem with the specific version you have (fixed in a later version).

If update does not help (or if you don't want to update iTunes), given that the iPod is recognized by the system, it seems to have a data connection.  Try to put the iPod in Disk Mode.

How to put your iPod in disc - Apple Support mode

Before you connect iPod, stop (power off) MacBook and disconnect all the USB devices.  Plug the MacBook power adapter (so it does not work on battery).  Startup MacBook, launch iTunes and connect the iPod (in disc Mode) on a USB direct on MacBook, by himself.

If he picks up iTunes, it should invite you to do a restore with a message on the "recovery."  This erases the iPod, so if you're OK with that (because the content of the iPod is in your iTunes library), do the restore.  If all goes well, the iPod appears in iTunes (normally) after the restoration.

  • iPod Classic will not sync with iTunes

I have a 30 GB iPod Classic model PA002LL. After the recent update, I can no longer sync my iPod with iTunes on Windows. It's not to recognize that the iPod is connect. I have already uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled to see if that could fix the problem, but I had no luck with that. However, the computer recognizes it because it will charge the unit.

What should I do so that it can synchronize? Thank you!

  • IPod Classic intermittent not recognized by iTunes on Windows 10

I have an iPod Classic which, until recently, has been working fine on Windows 10 via iTunes.

Recently, he has started only not to be recognized by iTunes when I conect via USB.

I keep trying different USB slots and that cures the problem - for about 2 days.  It is not reognised again.  I'm running to different locations to try USB!

I bought a new 30pin to USB cord in the last 2 weeks.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes (an hour ago) and the same inability to recognize on an 'old' USB slot has occurred.

I checked my installed programs - I Apple Mbilé Device Support installed (to 28.0 MB), but the icon is gray - should it be?

BUT well, click on my PC-> selecting Manage-> expansion Device Manager-> expansion Bus USB controllers, I don't have an Apple Mobile Device USB Driver listed.

I have (twice in the last month) resorted to reset the iPod and lose all my music on it and then copy back to iTunes (I manually synchronize)

Please - what can I do to fix this?

Exclude you a bad USB cable anchor to buy a new one.  You tried multiple USB ports.  You have reinstalled iTunes software, and it seems that it works pretty well (and quite long) to do a restore and then sync everything back.

You have a lot of other USB devices connected at the same time?  If you do, it is possible that your PC does not provide enough total power of bus for all devices at the same time.  Perhaps the iPod question began when you added a new device.  Sometimes, all devices are not drawing full power (as if the battery of the iPod is supported against when it is fully charged), and that's when the iPod connects very well.  And at other times, he has not enough power.

As a test, turn off the PC (power off) and unplug all USB devices, including hubs.  You can leave standard keyboard/mouse USB connected, if used.  Do a Reset (reboot) of the iPod (hold the Menu and Center buttons at the same time until the Apple appears in the display).  Starting the PC and only connect the iPod to a direct USB port on computer.  Use this way for a while, to see if there is a difference.  It also tests the possible interference between USB devices.

  • I have a iPod Classic 30 GB. I have a new macbook pro and I managed to put my iPod, but now I can't synchronize my iTunes to iPod. What should I do next?

iPod Classic does not sync with iTunes on MacBook Pro.

If "reset" means you did a restore on it (to erase it), after the restoration, the iPod is set by default to use the parameter manually manage music and videos] .  If you expect not to sync automatically, you need to Sync music.

Connect iPod and to find his button on the device to iTunes.  The screenshot below shows the left upper corner of the window of my iTunes, iPod button circled in red.

Click this button to display the settings of the iPod summary screen in the iTunes window.  Along the left side, in the sidebar, under settings, click on music.  Parameters of music from the iPod screen to the right.  Check the box to Sync music.

NOTE: For anyone else reading this, all the songs of the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

This enables automatic synchronization.  You can choose to synchronize your entire music library or a part of the selection .  Implement this screen as you want, and then click apply to sync iPod.  Further, iTunes automatically keeps iPod "in phase" with the changes in your music library (or the selected part of it), when you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected).

If this isn't the problem, thanks for posting back with additional details about your situation.

  • Have to restore the ipod after downloading the update. Question, help please

    Hello!

I have a large music library on my iTunes and so all my music does not fit on my iPod Classic 160 GB, which is fine.

I have the latest version (last one that came out) the iPod Classic 160 gb.

I have the latest version of iTunes.

    I use Windows 7.

So basically I had no questions for recent years until last week.

For a long time, I went through my collection of music [in view of SONGS] and placed check marks next to all the songs I want on my ipod.

It's the way I like it. I have enough free space on my ipod for new music, I get every month so that it works.

I connect the iPod to iTunes and SYNC my library, and it adds new songs I added to my iTunes library since I'm finally connected.

Okay - here is the problem.

Last week, when I connected my iPod Classic to iTunes, I got a saying there was an update to download.

I am used to what is going on all the time with my iPhone, but I can't remember the last time there was an update for my iPod.

Intrigued and not think what awkward or troublesome would come from him, I'm agree to download and install the new update.

When he did download it says that it does not recognize the device (iPod). After searching for hours for help, I finally disconnected, stop, restart and rec-connected my iPod to iTunes.

He says that he has no music on my iPod. I checked and it was not. He disappeared. ***!?!

Fortunately, all my music was always in iTunes so I went with my library SYNC (again, I have the titles I want selected already). He said he could only and basically the only option was to reset my iPod to its factory settings. Because the way that my iPod is empty anyway, I thought, fine, so I did. I have restored its original settings.

Later, I did the same thing after disconnecting. Shut down, restart, clean the cache and the registry, etc and then reconnected the iPod to iTunes. My first thought was maybe I should try to download the update again - since the ipod is empty at this time - what the *, why not - I would rather finish now than get my music on my iPod to be prompted to download new update, and start all over. So I clicked Check For Updates when my iPod was connected to iTunes and it said there is no new update. I don't remember the exact update, but I'm sure it was like 2.05 something, and what I have now (and had before all this happened) was 2.04 or something like that. So does well, no update? No matter what. At this point, I'm SO frustrated - I want just to SYNC my library via checked/selected songs and get back them on my iPod.

When I went to SYNC, nothing happened.

So I went to the tab that showed the music and it only gives me the option to SYNC my library of ENSEMBLE music (which is too large and does not fit on my iPod) - OR - I can go through this form on this page and browse and select the ARTISTS that I would like to add.

It's so frustrating. First of all, I don't want to pass by and re - select all the songs I want to add - the main reason being - he did already - when you click on my library and select the songs view, you can see all the songs that I previously have selected/checked remains unchanged. Second, if I had to do it the way he wants me to all simply by selecting ARTISTS who will not work.

Sorry for this long crazy question - but basically - how now factory - reset iPod Classic for SYNCING with my iTunes library with the songs of checked/selected, I already have checked - and not to go through and do it by limiting my will and have to select only the artist (not to mention that I did as I want).

I appreciate any help or insight that someone could offer.

    Much appreciated!

On the settings screen of the iPod summary (what you see in iTunes when you select iPod), there is a checkbox to Sync only checked songs and videos (wording may be different for your iPod).  Enable (check) this setting in combination with sync entire music library.

iPod Classic stopped display work.  Work displayed in iTunes.  Updated iTunes to 12.4 but did not help.  I can see how to check and uncheck "Display work" in iTunes but not how on the iPod as others have suggested.  Need to perhaps restore and recharge.

Long ago with including works on devices was optional, and you can sometimes fix cache work on a device by not including and then add it again. This choice has long since disappeared. A complete restoration and reloading is now the only method to recreate the cache.

  • iPod Classic recognized by iTunes but used to synchronize

I just bought a refurbished iPod Classic (Genesis 6 160 GB). The iPod looks and works as if it was new. I connected the iPod on my laptop and iTunes recognizes it. However, when I try to sync the iPod, nothing happens. The load bar that say 'Start Sync' appears for a split second, then goes, and I get the prompt saying "iPod sync is complete." However, nothing synchronized. I restored the setting on the iPod and even made sure that I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes, with no luck. My computer is and has been authorized for iTunes and I even changed the name of my iPod in iTunes, as it was the name of my old iPod, to see if he has made all the difference. Don't know what to do here, especially since the classics are discontinued.

Some iPod Classic s even if ongoing renovation have trouble recognizing a new computer. The previous owner probably plugged his iPod into his computer several times. Kind of like when you connect your phone to the computer for the first time, the phone and the computer synchronization together. Even if you restored the setting on the iPod, I try and take back to factory settings, if there is still this option. Hope this helps, good luck

I tried to sync my iPod Classic 160 gb but got the message "iPod cannot be synced. • iTunes freezes when iPod Classic is connected

Today, I put music on my iPod Classic 160 gb... the files transferred and I just change some information in iTunes at the same time and iTunes froze and then I had to reboot the computer... now two things happen:

    1. the music on my iPod has been cleared of her. All my music is still on my computer/iTunes works fine

    2. when I connect the classic iPod to my computer, rather than recognize the device and let me put music on the iPod, iTunes hangs and I have to force it quit.

The iPod appears in the Finder as a connected device, but iTunes implode everytime I connect the iPod. Help?

Edit: Just went to the part of the iPod... on the second screen it says 81.5 used Go, 67.3 'About' free... and then below that under songs and artists etc it says just 0. If something hit irrelevant... is there a way to format just the iPod without using iTunes to do?

  • ITunes library don't sync all the library on my iPod Classic 5th

Hi all. My iTunes library is not synchronized all the library on my iPod Classic 5th. The library contains 8136 songs, iPod displays only 8120 songs after synchronization.

I hope you can help me.

    Thank you.

Some items in your library iTunes music are not in fact the songs.  For example, some albums that buy you on the iTunes Store come with a "booklet".   This isn't a song, so it does not sync to the iPod.  In addition, your library iTunes music can have music videos.  Depending on your synchronization settings (and your iPod model), music videos may not sync.  So, if you use the number of 'elements' displayed at the bottom of the iTunes window to compare, is not necessarily equal to the number of songs on the iPod.

Songs must be stored locally on your disk to synchronize with your iPod.  It is possible for songs purchased from the iTunes Store will appear in your library iTunes music from Apple servers ("iCloud"), even if you do not subscribe to Match iTunes or Apple's music.  To check, show your iTunes music library using the view of songs , the show as a list of simple songs with columns.  Bring up the column to iCloud download , if currently hidden.  This column is narrow with a cloud symbol as his Cape.  (Right-click on the header row in the list of songs to show/hide columns.)  Songs that are not stored locally have a symbol of the cloud with the down arrow in the column download iCloud .  These songs are visible of the iCloudand does not sync to the iPod (except if downloaded).

If you subscribe to Apple music, download music from Apple (in your iTunes library) are written (not possessed) songs.  Downloads of music Apple cannot be used with iPod (except iPod touch).

Also, look on the recapitulation of the iPod settings screen in iTunes to see if the sync only checked songs [and videos] option is checked.  If this is the case, the songs that are disabled in your music library iTunes do not sync.

  • iPod classic (7th generation), do not sync with iTunes on Windows 10

    Salvation;

My iPod classic (7th generation, 160 GB) is not synchronized with iTunes 12.3.2.35 (latest version) on Windows-10. It is synchronized before, but it suddenly stopped synchronization. The iTunes is to identify the iPod, but it is not sync. Also, all my other iPods (nano and classic) also show the same behavior. Help nicely, as it made all my outdated iPod. Thank you!

If the iPod appears in iTunes, select it (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to show its settings screen in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Right, parameters of music on the iPod screen.

NOTE: All iPod songs that are not in your iTunes library (on the computer) will be lost.

If the box Sync music is not checked, check it.  This enables automatic synchronization.  If your library complete iTunes music can fit on the iPod, you can choose the option synchronize entire music library.  Then click apply.

If your library complete iTunes music does not fit on the iPod (or if you do not want to synchronize 'everything'), you can choose the option synchronize select playlists, artists, albums and genres.  Make your choice from the lists below.  For example, you can keep one or more playlists in your iTunes library, with songs that you want on the iPod.  Back on the settings screen of music from iPod, under playlists, search for and select (checkmark) these playlists.  After making your selections, click apply.

Further, iTunes syncs iPod "" with your library iTunes music (or the selected part) when you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected).

  • IPod Classic (and iTunes library) from Windows to Mac

Hey ppl, can someone help me with this one?
My iPod Classic was initially connected to a PC, because I didn't have a Mac at the time. But I an and for a long time, and now I'm about to get a second.
I was put in place with the PC mostly because my iTunes library has nearly 500 stored cd and I use my iMac only for work, I didn't want to fill his 500 GB drive with iTunes library. But now that I'm about to take my work to a new Mac, I thought that it was time to move my iTunes library to Mac, and I did it with the help of an external hard drive.

Now, everything is ok with iTunes on Mac all the CDs and the works of art and library moved nicely.

But when I connected the iPod it syncs ok, but does not receive a new cd that I just uploaded on the Mac.

I have noticed that an already existing CD which I modified the work on the Mac, sync ok for the iPod, but not the new CD. The CD is an original, not a copy.
I think it has to do with the iPod having been registered to another computer. I allow them the Mac, but still the CD is not transferred to the iPod.
I want to get rid of my PC, but I need the iPod to work with the Mac.
Can someone tell me what I'm missing, or doing wrong?
    Thank you

I had checked the discussions over and over again before posting the question and do not find an answer, and now after posting the question, I found what solved my problem - iPod sync fine with the Mac. (to goodbye PC)

"Kenichi Watanabe 26 February 2016 06:04 Re: Ipod connects to itunes, but does not synchronize "
    in reply to Umphreys21

OK, that's fine.  So, just what is currently on the iPod is already in your new library iTunes, correct?

When you start with a new iTunes library and add your existing content, the iPod sees it as a new iTunes library, not the old one that was previously used to synchronize the iPod.  The partners from iPod to your new iTunes library and the Tower WE Auto Sync, follow these steps...

Select the iPod in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to display the parameters of the iPod in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Settings of music from the iPod screen is shown at right.

NOTE: All iPod songs that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Check the box to Sync music.  This turns ON Auto Sync (and associate the iPod to your new iTunes library).  If your library complete iTunes music can fit on iPod, choose the option to synchronize the entire music library.  Click apply.

On a separate note, since you started with a new iTunes library, you have added all your content to your backup, but you probably do not have the additional data (such as playlists, ratings, play head, date added, etc.).  Depending on how you have saved your iTunes data, it may be possible to restore your full (not only your media) iTunes library.  You need to be good with the help of your new iTunes library, but if you want more information, thanks for posting back. »

    So thanks Kenichi Watanabe
