Irregular cursor jumping problem

My cursor jumps while I type. The problem is very irregular.  There will be approximately 5 - 10 times a minute when I'm on Word or writing emails.  This can last for a week, and then the problem will completely disappear for a week or even a month.  It happened, on and out, since I got my computer in August, 09.

I tried the slider deactivation of the techniques that have been proposed on this forum.  They do not work in my case.

I wonder if the touchpad is being physically affected by the way I manage the laptop.  Every day, I put my computer in the protection of my bag sleeve back and cram manual heavy beside her.  Maybe the portable compression inside the bag.  There are actually marks on the screen, I can say are impressions from the keyboard.

Is it possible to create a condition of jumping cursor simply by compressing a laptop this way?  I would be interested to know if the people with this problem carry their computers under similar conditions.  If so, I will rethink my next purchase and my transport technology.

Any help is appreciated.

I can't say with certainty. I can only "speculate", at best.
1. your used to typing. You might, without realizing it, touched the touchpad that you type.
2 your sensitivity of the touchpad is too high.
I can't tell you exactly how to adjust sensitivity touch because mine is Dell and the options I have are not all the same as other brands.

Right-click on an open office space > Personalize > mouse pointers (Yes, mouse pointers) > from there, you have to look for yourself...
Look for the Settings of Touchpad > if you find it, one of the options issensitivitysetting.
Light sensitive to light touch =.
Heavy = touch sensitive in lourdes.
Adjustment should come like a slide. Move the slide and experiment.

I'm talking about mouse, because I guess that you only use touchpad.

  • Cursor jump - is NOT a problem of keyboard!

Windows 8. My mouse jumps at the beginning of almost all fields of text every few seconds. Note that this is not random jumping - the cursor jumps only at the beginning of the field. I say "almost all" because this forum post is the first I've found where it does not. The problem never happens offline programs, the toolbar or login form fields. Only the fields of text in Firefox. Cannot duplicate in Chrome. I was typing stuff in my word processor and then copy and paste to get anything done on my blog or email. Restarted my computer, and then uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. No improvement. I tested and is not remotely to a keyboard problem, such as cursor more jump.

  • Cursor jumping to anywhere else is a problem

I bought a new Sony Vaio and upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and have the same problem of sand with the slider jump. Now, I however am NOT quick to unfortunately type, and use the "Advanced Hunt-n-peck" method and must examine the key and return to the screen from time to time. And I do not drag the touchpad no longer. Here's what happened to write this:

«I bought a new Sonmust look at the y keys Vaio and upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and have the same problem with the cursor jump jump.» "Now, I'm however NOT quickly by typing unfortunately and use the"Advanced Hunt-n-peck"method and".

I'm about to go back to Mac. He is so eccentric. Another issue that has happened (and just did a few seconds ago) is by hitting the space bar the screen 'jumps' and the cursor is not the case to find.

I agree that MSFT should be more direct and more secular as in his answers. Help, please.

It's a laptop? If so, you are most probably accidentally brushing
your hand against the touchpad that you type.

  • I have a problem with the cursor jumps on the computer.

    Original title: cursor jumps

This seems to be a common problem...

I have a new Windows 7, but the cursor has a mind of your own.  He clicks on things when I move the cursor.  It will change the view zomming to 200% or 75% - he won't stay at 100%.  It also captures the scroll button IE on IE - a small book in the edge of the slider and the window jumps to the top of the scroll key, and then down.  He won't hold still.

I tried several fixes, and nothing seems to work.   I really hope that Microsoft will fix this problem.

    Thank you.

    Laptop?
    With touchpad?

Cover the touchpad with thick cardboard OR connect a real mouse to the laptop computer and disable the touchpad via the control panel.  Use the system for some time, and if the problem no longer - it's just you touching the touchpad with various parts of the hand/arm yout while using the system.

  • I have problems with the cursor jumping around when I type, especially on facebook.

When I type, the cursor jumps around. Most of the time he'll be back in the part I typed before. And for some reason, he does it almost everytime I type in the word you. I have run virus scans and she always does. Any suggestions?

By chance, your computer is a laptop or netbook?
I found that when typing, my wrist is sometimes contact with the touchpad causing the cursor to jump on.  Something specific on how you type 'you' might make your wrist touch the touchpad.  If this is your case, there is a program called 'touchfreeze' which disables the touchpad while you type.

Just got my new Portege 780-102.

There is a suggestion that I have to re - charge the pack of bluetooth applications.
Try to talk to Toshiba tech.support in the United Kingdom, but they are on a holiday.

Has anyone else had the same problem and have you known the problem solutions?

    Hi mate

I read on this issue of cursor on the different laptop models (from different manufacturers).
But in most cases, the users didn't note that the touchpad was accidentally while typing of touchpad.
You said you checked this hmm but in any case, try to disable the touchpad while typing just for test purposes

In addition, some have said that the BIOS update can also be useful
So if the most recent BIOS is available, updated it!

  • OS sound produce a high-pitched noise (M70-160) + keyboard cursor jumps

    Hello everyone,

I own a satellite M70-160 for about a year. There are two problems:
    (a) 15 days ago all the sounds of the o/s (for example when windows start/end, wheel etc) no longer works properly and began to produce a high-pitched noise. It's extremely annoying. I downloaded the realtek soundmax which only temporarily solves the problem. Now every time I have reinstall, when sound is shut down it works fine, but then again when I restart the computer it is working properly.
In addition this problem disappears and appears periodically and it seems that most of the o/s sound time is malfunctioning.

    (b) when I type fast in keyboard cursor jumps into other lines or bar tasks or made the selection of text etc. as there is a kind of shortcut (this problem is not related to the first as it appeared from the beginning).

I shouldn't forget to mention that I installed almost every new driver (might have missed one or two but it is highly unlikely)

    Thank you very much

    Giorgos

    Hello

    (a) I have the same unit, but so far I didn't notice something like that. If this happens regularly, it makes the not so easy diagnosis. Try to test with different volume levels and also with headphones.
    (b) key combination while typing to disable using FN + F9 touchpad. Maybe you touch touchpad with your hand while typing so fast.

The last option you can try is updated BIOS. If you want to do this please READ the document how to do this.

  • Equium A200 1 HR - cursor jumps in text unexpectedly every few minutes

Immediately after the delivery of my Equium last summer, I noticed that the cursor jumped unexpectedly back sometimes. Does not seem to matter if it's a Word text or email. Contacted Toshiba support Northern and got after the answer:

    * According to our phone call I send you hereby the download link. Just click on the link and choose 'run '. Then reboot your PC and try again the function.
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/tpdrv-20070809141725.zip
    Jacob Rudiger
    Nordic support *.

But the problems persist. I'm a pretty fast typist, which may explain why more people are not a problem (?). And when I don't need to look at the keys as I type, the risk is, of course, my cursor jumps into my text without my noticing for several sentences... enough frustrating!

    Anyone experienced this? Other solutions?

OK, I know what the problem is.

The Synaptics touchpad does not include what is called a palm-control more. They abandoned their driver software. For some reason that I can't quite understand yet.

I do the same thing as you. I plant away on my keyboard only to realize that the text is inserted to midway up.

Palm control is basically a delay on the pavement, listening to your finger pressure. It is said to the computer when I type don't let my tap-click my cursor for a half second pad (or something like that). I got it on my other old computer manufacturer and it is very convenient for crash-away-typists like us.

I learned to type by looking at the keyboard and likes it that way. This worsens the problem more by me not noticing for a long time the cursor jumped.

Tonight, I am furious and went to Synaptics to know why they passed control of palm of new driver software. They do not treat Joe Public like me and you. Only the big boys.
In short, we have Toshiba to return to Synaptics and solve this problem. Which brings me here, who found your post.

The support guy who sent you this file I guess that did not really understand or put it down to a single driver (or other) corruption. We have already installed and reinstall it won't help.
So I know your problem is the same as mine.

Now, I went with the extras in the driver. Vista seems to hang bits of software. According to me, it's why the palm-check isn't there anymore. The software throws just an error indicating that you need a Synaptics touchpad to run this. A bit like a serial number of equipment to stop no Synaptics customers using their juicy software.

I really don't see Synaptics file form of verification of the palm software. But this is only speculation. They can do what they want with their software.

My best guess is the driver components running in the new Vista like they think that. Who stops at the palm working, check that gives us our little bug.

I know that vista puts things in the registry at different locations and the additional bits are looking for Synaptics reg - key allow its use. Who are there, but in the wrong place.

I'll send it to Toshiba Support now and lets hope they can get it fixed.
I guess that if you went back and said, this does not solve what they would have degenerated until someone figured this out. If this isn't the support guys fault entirely.

PS My mouse jumped about a dozen times during typing it yourself. The A200 is such a beautiful little machine. This seems a silly thing to mess it up.

  • When you type in a text field on a Web site, why the cursor jumps behind the already typed text?

This problem only occurs when text is entered into a form on site (not in the address bar). The cursor jumps randomly a letter to the left, thus making it rather impossible entry.

Device: HTC Vision Android 2.2 (= HTC Desire Z in North America)

This is a bug that will be fixed in the RC version. If you're OK with putting on the installation from "unknown sources" in the application settings. The nightly build will have this work http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/latest-mozilla-central-android-r7/fennec-4.0b6pre.multi.eabi-arm.apk else use the software keyboard to this release.
