Is it OK to leave my Mac on dedicated... ever?

Hello world

I wondered about this. I usually turn my iMac/MBPr off power every day when I'm done using it. Is it really necessary, or could I just leave them on like the iPhone? Mac don't generally take a lot of time to boot, so ultimately it does not matter very much, makes me just feel better in the rare times that I do not forget to turn off the MBP.

Thank you

Bruncky

On and with screen all lit up and everything, or as in never do a Shut Down and he sleeps just by closing the lid?

In the first case, the screen will probably fail after a while.

I very rarely put mine turned off. Simply put asleep and things in their bags. Make sure they are really asleep. Non-retines have an indicator light on the front of the pulse. Retina, it takes trust them or put an ear on the chassis to make sure that the fans are turned off to confirm.

Is it safe to leave your Mac to sleep while not using it?

Of course, it is safe. Sleep is the best way to let your Mac if you use in a short period of time (process of awakening is much faster but to turn on your Mac, whenever you want to use it), and your Mac also consumes very little power in this mode. However, it is better to turn off your Mac if you are not going to use it for a long time.

To secure your Mac by others, I suggest you to set up your Mac to request your password after waking up from his sleep. You can do System Preferences-> Security & privacy-> general-> 'ask the password... ».

  • Using facial recognition on Photos for Mac (Sierra)

It seems that iOS synchronize recognition with Photos of the faces for Mac, nor between iOS devices, which is disappointing.

However, the face recognition function seems to be a great improvement in the identification of faces (maybe wrong, but it does not use the faces generated by manual detection).

I'm working on how this happens when I leave the Mac from one day to the next.  He says that the faces are profiled in the Photos app is not in use and that the Mac is plugged.

Does this mean that the Photos app must be closed and the trendy Mac and open? Or if the app can be open (but not in use) and closes the Mac?

    Thank you

The Photos App not running is my understanding

  • Mac stops when left to idle for a few seconds

Basically, the title says it all.

Whenever I leave the mac without any kind of interaction, he will either urge me to "Put my Mac to sleep" / "Shut Down", or he will die just on its own.

I checked other messages and son of on and off site, but I can't find one that fits my situation. I even tried to bring it to an Apple Store to have examined him just in case there was something wrong with the hardware or system. But it was working fine when they checked. So I thought it was OK. But right after I brought home and it works, it would still be acting weird as it has always been.

I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, and same repair permissions, everything I could get my hands on, but unfortunately, none of those solved the problem.

All started last week when he stopped all of a sudden load and had initially showed unusual behavior. I can't even update the operating system because it wont let me not leave it alone, even for a minute, I'm getting more and more frustrated.

Someone else has the same problem as me? If Yes, how can I solve this problem? Or you could at least give me any suggestions?

    Thank you.

  • Crash report process blocking my mac

Recently, I installed Arq Backup, and every time I leave my mac download (save) the night when I go back in the morning:

    -The "crash report" uses a lot of CPU and memory;

    -I can not open any application;

    -I can not save any file on the disk (desktop, documents, etc.);

    -My only solution is to restart my mac;

After the reboot, I checked the disk and partition using disk utility, and it's all good with the disc.

This last night before going to bed, I closed all Applications that where open and I left the console open with 'System request log' > 'All Messages' and the hit 'clear view', I also left the "activity monitor" open to see what was going on in the morning.

MacBook Pro (15-inch late 2008), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), 8 GB RAM

When I came home in the morning, I got this on the activity monitor:

The startup disk is a failure, or there is another fault of internal material.

Back up all data on the disc immediately if you do not have a current backup. There are ways to back up a computer that is not fully functional - ask if you need advice.

An appointment of 'Genius' to an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider.

If privacy is a concern, delete the partitions of data with the ability to write zeros * (do it only if you have at least two backups complete, independent, and you know how to restore on a blank disc from any one of them.) Do not delete the recovery partition, if it is present.

Keep your confidential data safe during the repair of the equipment

Apple recommends that you remove permission to a device in the iTunes store before serving.

    * One SSD has no need to be set to zero.

  • DPS on the Mac App Store?

    Hello:

I did some tests on DPS with the Windows application and it's amazing and fabulous because I can access from my laptop Windows 8.1 or a computer. I know this is possible because of the Sysmte of operation instead of the technology, but I would like to know if you're going to release a version for use on the Mac in order to have a wider audience. Not the Web Viewer that require access to the account of a browser and download the folio each time, but an application complete which can be used the same as the Viewer on iPad.

    Saludos

    Leo

We have no plans to leave a viewer Office dedicated to Mac OS.

  • AIR for Mac?

Is it possible to create an AIR for Mac application? No iOS... Need AIR multitouch support and able to play on a Mac computer? Ever tried to do, and not sure it's possible...

The AIR is like Java. Get one depending on runtime (JRE or AIR) and applications for your operating system will use the runtime to play.

  • trying to erase macmini, but losing internet

I need to delete my old MacMini, but the internet is not connected when I

Turn it back on. My service provider said that it is a product problem?

    Thank you

Why do you need Internet to erase the hard drive? According to your profile you are running Snow Leopard on your Mini. So, see the following:

    Snow Leopard erase and install

Remember to only back up your files.

    1. Insert the Snow Leopard DVD in the optical drive and restart the computer.
    2. Immediately after hearing the chime hold down the C key.
    3. Release the button when the Apple logo appears and wait for loading to complete.
    4. After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the continue button. When the menu bar appears select utility drive in the Utilities menu.  After disk utility charges select the entry out-bumpy in the list aside (mfgr. size ID and disc drive.)  In the right side of the disk utility window, click the Partition tab.  Set the number of sheets to (1) on the menu drop down. Click the Options button and select GUID, click on OK, the value of the Mac OS Extended journaled format type. Finally, click on the apply button.
    5. Once the format is complete, quit disk utility.  Continue with the installation of OS X and follow the directions.
    6. Once installation is complete, the computer will restart in the installation wizard. After completing the Setup Wizard, you will use a new installation of Snow Leopard. Open the software update and install updates recommended.
    7. If you plan to sell or to give to your remote computer, then proceed as follows: once you reformat your hard disk and reinstall Snow Leopard, the computer restarts with a welcome screen. To leave the Mac in a State OOTB (Out Of The Box), do not continue with the Setup program. Instead, press the command and Q keys to stop the computer. The installation wizard will guide you the new owner through the installation procedure, after that it turns on the computer.
    8. Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 v1.1 updated Combo. If necessary. It is not necessary if you are selling or giving your computer away.

  • Missing album artwork after that put 12.5.1 updated

I've cringed seeing another update for iTunes because every f * time g you do an update something goes wrong. Particularly with iTunes and iPhoto. After 12.5.1, the majority of my album artwork has disappeared. I have an extensive library that I worked at the wire. How many more hours to go back and manually reinsert cover for hundreds of albums? And what happened in the background which reflected the album cover? Now it's white base as years ago. Not only has this update lost my time, we took it back a decade aesthetically and it made me to consider leaving the mac world.

Maddening sounds. I am one of the lucky ones whose art music turned out fine, but we'll try to figure out how to get yours working again. I'm not able to provide a solution - only options.

Your audio files are located on your computer:

    (Your home folder) / music/iTunes/iTunes Music /.

In other words, your mp3s should be located in this folder, integrated into the work.

In addition, you should be able to purchase your work by watching your backups. If you can, restoration of the work is a simple matter of drag / drop.

  • Process of return to Snow Leopard of El Capitan

I have an iMac from the beginning of 2008.  I was using Snow Leopard successfully.  Last weekend, I've upgraded to El Capitan.  During the conversion, I lost all my email history.  I had saved Snow Leopard in Time Machine just before the upgrade.  I want to find a process documented back to Snow Leopard (I have the dicc) and time using Time Machine to reinstall the emails.  I tried to reinstall the e-mails with the help of El Capitan, but it does not work.  Did Snow Leopard work - El Capitan runs very slowly with my chip set.  Any help would be appreciated.

Here's what you need to do:

    Snow Leopard erase and install

Remember to only back up your files.

  • MacBook (13-inch aluminum, Late 2008) cannot install snow leopard

So I'll try to fix computer for my mother, it's a MacBook (13-inch aluminum, Late 2008).  He was running very slowly so I did a factory of resets and tried to install a copy of snow leopard on it.  When I try to install it on my hard drive it says "Mac OS X does not have this disc."  The symbol for the hard drive has a yellow! sign on it (if it matters).

    (1) my question is what can I do to install the OS on this?

Mavericks - OS would not install, I tried this right after the factory restore.

-Unfortunately I can't eject the disc either-

    (2) that it has to do with my drive hard and how can I test that?

Whence it the Snow Leopard disc? You must use a copy of Snow Leopard retail. You can buy Snow Leopard at the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (US). The price is $ 19.99 plus tax. You will receive a physical media by mail after placing your order.

    Snow Leopard erase and install

    2. Immediately after hearing the chime hold down the C key.

  • Restart the external drive loop

I'm trying to downgrade an old MacBook 13 inch (unibody), it's current run 10.11, but decided it was too system for the small laptop. Swap on the HD for those who had 10.5 and it would just keep restarting. I tried even to remove the HD and reboot only with the 10.2 installation disc and it would always be in the loop. Only time where it works properly is with 10.11 back in HD.

It's very unusual, because I have no memory of this never happens with other OS.

You need the original Installer 1 disc that came with the computer or a 10.6.3 retail DVD of Snow Leopard. Then follow these instructions:

    2. Immediately after hearing the chime hold down the C key.
    3. Release the button when the Apple logo appears and wait for loading to complete.

You can now switch to any version of Mac OS X that you have already downloaded from the App Store. They must appear on the purchase page of the App Store when you connect using the Apple ID used when downloading of their origin. Your model is the first of its kind to run Lion or later. You can stay with Snow Leopard for best performance. However, the model is quite able to run than el Capitan provided that it has enough memory installed - at least 4 GB.

  • Can't find El Capitan installer after reboot

I'm running Mavericks and waited until now to install El Capitan software conflict with other applications. I downloaded the installer for El Capitan from the prompt on the App Store. But I realized you need to straighten the my backup before installing, just in case something went wrong. That took much longer that planned, I messed up my Crashplan backup by mistake and ended up leaving the Mac on during a few weeks, while I've sorted it. Setup was waiting for him on the desk, but when the backup was made, I discovered that there is an update of security available in the App Store. So I installed and I thought I could stop and let the Mac for a few days while I went abroad, assuming he would always be there when I restarted my return. But it wasn't the case. When I started the OS today returning Installer El Capitan is no longer on the desktop. It is also is no longer proposed to download again from the App Store.

Where the installation program is stored on my Mac so I could try to install? And if it is not backed up anywhere in the closure case, then how to get the App Store to realize that it is not installed and offer me the download again?

It is stored in the Applications folder, it's called Install OS X
