Is it possible to install Vista as an upgrade to XP, if you boot the system using the Vista DVD?

It's for my course of computer science at the University and I'm just stuck on this issue for some reason any. I appreciate any help I can get. I'm not looking for an easy way of homework, the only question about 30 I has not responded yet.

  • Is it possible to install Vista normally on the Satellite x 200-253?

Is it possible to install 32-bit Vista on my laptop using another CD of vista (NOT recovery dvd I've got Toshiba)? I don't want to use the recovery cd, as it is to install many things, which is useless for me (for example Norton Protection Center, which is difficult to uninstall completely from the system). Personally, I prefer Kaspersky Internet Security. I've got other Vista Home Premium CD from my desktop PC. So can I install system of it using my license key for laptop?
CD recovery install some older drivers too and he has much more work to properly uninstall (nVidia ForceWare for example) to install the latest drivers from the system of fees. Does anyone know if its possible to Exchange recovery for Vista cd standard installation cd?
Thank you very much for the reply!

If you have your recovery media and safed your important data, you should give it a try. Should work with many keys, but not all, as I've read so far. Has worked for me, so chances might be good for you too.

  • Is it possible to install Vista 64 with and key to Vista 32 on Satellite A200

    Hey there ' All!

I bought a Satellite A200 coming with a 32-bit Home premium Vista. I also added 4 GB of RAM, and I would like to install the 64 version to take advantage of the full range of memory.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a 'free' DVD of the corresponding 64-bit version?

    Thank you

To my knowledge, this is NOT possible. Each single Vista operating system use a different key!
If you need a 64 bit OS then you must buy it and you will get a new key!

  • Is it possible to install Vista Ultimate 32 bit on a CQ61?

Here is the basic information on my old laptop (it cannot all be 100% correct, but pretty much)

    Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
    Model: Presario CQ61 Notebook PC
    Rating: unknown
    Processor: AMD-
    Installed memory: 2.00 GB -.
    System type: 32-bit operating system
    Windows 7 Edition Home Premium.
It was my old details of laptops. It is a pre-installed portable computer that has been infected by a virus, I eventually had to install linux on it.
I have two drives Home Premium & Professional XP legit here, but none of them worked, I have a disk of Ultimate Windows 7 32/64 bit I borrowed from a friend, who no longer works, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit does not work either...
I'm guessing that only Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit works on it... But what about the Vista Ultimate 32-bit? Is this possible? Please tell me, thanks :).
I'll happily downgrade to Vista if possible. I can't get Vista Ultimate 32 bit, but because it's all my friend had spare... It has windows 7, that's why... Haha...

  • Is it possible to install multiple copies of Windows 7 in Virtualbox as guest operating system

    Hello

My laptop runs on Linux OS, I installed VirtualBox. Now, I would like to install multiple copies of Windows 7 on VirtualBox as a guest operating system.

    Is this possible?

My activation will expire after 3 installations?

What are the limits in this situation?

Microsoft treats several facilities in VirtualBox (as guest operating system) as a single installation instance? I think that the hardware (motherboard) is used as a fingerprint to detect changes in the systems, but as the material is going to be the same custom installation will be treated as a single instance?

    Help, please...

    Thank you

    Hello

There are not 3 installs with 1 license

A Windows license is for a single installation, and this includes in Virtual Machines.

    See you soon.

  • Install Vista Home Premium Toshiba Recovery disk

    Hello

I question: is it possible to install Vista recovery disk without erase all data on the HARD drive and destroy the current configuration partition?

Question II: Is it possible to to somehow 'get' the installation of Vista from Toshiba recovery disc files,
integrate em with SP1 and train a separate Vista installation disc?

Question III: How much space do you think I should spare for the primary partition for Vista OS only (file and all the other software will be on other partitions)?

    (1) No, it is not possible to install Vista from the Toshiba Recovery disk without format the whole HARD drive.
You can only use the HARD drive recovery feature if you don t want to erase the whole HARD drive. Then only the first partition is erased.

    (2) No, this is not possible. The recovery disk contains factory settings in an image and you can change something. You must install SP1 after installing Windows.

    (3) you must use the 15 or 20 GB for the system partition, but if you reinstall Vista, you reinstall all of the programs. So you can install all the programs on the first partition.
Here is a useful article on the Vista partition Manager:

    Hi Herman,.

You can try to use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer data and settings to C: on D: drive and install Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit on the C: drive. After installing Windows Vista 64 bit on C: drive try to reuse Windows Easy transfer to transfer the data back (from D: to C: drive).

You can also take an external data backup before you attempt the Installation of Windows Vista.
