Being a little smarter I have myself give credit, I found that the password reset I used (I had gotten my laptop) has been installed only for Windows 7 because it is the operating system on my laptop. I have no idea if the office came with a disk recovery or not, since my mother bought the display instead of in the box as most of the people get it. I can't get to the desktop because my mother has forgotten his password and is the administrative account and this is the only account available. I decided that I need to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium to the computer but I don't want to buy a version of it, if I can't, anyway I can just download a Windows VPS on a disc or flash drive and reinstall the OS in this way? Or do I absolutely have to buy a new version of Windows?

  And you make a reset disk on that machine, not another machine and make you before you forget the password, not afterwards.

  If Vista was the original version of Windows installed on your computer then sticker product key is for Vista, which could explain the gaffe.  However if the product key sticker is for Windows 7 you can then install Windows and activate yourself save a long trip.

  You should be able to return your PC to factory conditions. Usually a new PC comes with either a partition of ora hidden drive recovery on the hard drive that contains an image of your operating system. If your PC is equipped with a recovery disc (or set of disks), you can use those. If it has a hidden partition, then you must use this option. You will need to check your PC user's guide to learn how to restore to factory conditions. There is suually one set of instructions in the user guide that tells you what to do.

  If you do not have the user's guide try Web site of the manufacturer of the PC for instructions. I'm sorry that I can't be precise with instructions. Different manufacturers have different ways to restore the system back.

  If you bought your PC from a retailer, you may, as an alternative, as their technical support for the information.
