Issue of change event in the dialog box.

Hi all

I'm having a problem with a user dialog box. The dialog box should use eventchange to update aspects of the dialog box based on a user selection in a drop-down list box. The problem I encounter is that eventchange does not recognize the change of no selection to the first selection. IE, a user will have to select something else first, then change to what they want to be recognized. Is there something better that would solve this problem? or is the problem something else entirely?

Thank you

Artemis

Hey, Artemis,

The simplest solution would be to use the event EventInitialize to set the combo box to a default value when the dialog box opens, and your settings dialog box to match the selection.  In this way the first change makes the user would trigger change of value.

    It is useful for user interface elements that can enqueue actions as quickly as they can be made.

    For example, say it takes takes 1 second to take a picture and save it. The user presses the button "Take a photo", but they do not see a new image file again after a wait of 250 ms (human beings humans can be impatient) so they press twice. Finally, they see a new file image... and then another... and then another... To get rid of this possibility, check this box.

    Or that you have a cursor to adjust some settings. Moving the cursor updates very fast! If the user swipes from 0 to 1 then the program might try to send all the rest as a parameter to your instrument, which takes some time. Instead of sending all of these values, it is probably better if the software can keep up with the cursor and send a value of about 1 at the same time, the cursor said 1. If you do not check this box, the user can be 1, but the unit will continue to receive values from 0.53, 0.54, 0.55...

    I am running Version 2.1.0.63 on Windows XP SP3.

    When I open an existing view and make changes in the change display dialog box and then click on the button OK the dialog box remains open and the view is not changed.

    This user has Create View privileges and can run CREATE or REPLACE the sql statement to change the view. The same view of edition having the same user works very well in Version 1.5.3.

  • How can I change the default file locations in the dialog box "Save as" in Windows 7 x 64?

    I tried all the tips and tricks of WinXP, but they do not seem to work in Win7. Does anyone know how to change the location of the default files for the dialog box "Save as" in Win7?

    It seems, in Windows 7, that you cannot change locations by default save as file.

    In XP, we could modify the registry or use other methods to change the location of the files that appear on the left margin of the Save as dialog box. But some Morón in Redmond chose to end with good sense and called "libraries."

    I really wish Microsoft would stop doing what they think, it's the best for Grandma and little Suzy and give us what expect when we pay for these programs.

  • Leave the dialog box change the text display/display

    I have a dialog box that is created with some text objects attached to its buttons. The user can make choices for each one, press OK, and asked of their choice. What I would like is for the buttons to the user in the text, so that they can see it in the context as they decide (that's the only reason why they are buttons; otherwise, they would be static text). I know how to handle this with a palette, but I wonder if there is a way to do it with a dialog box. With the help of a palette for all this seems unfair; I really don't want users to be able to make changes to the document, while the palette is open, and I don't want to change anything in the document until the user clicks OK. It is a dialogue with a palette as oddity, really.

    The problem is that. showText() and setting the activePage throw them the error "Cannot process the request because a modal dialog box or the alert is active." I tried to adjust the dialog box to .the = false or .visible = false, but it has no effect. Is it just impossible? This feature, change the view but not the content, seems to live in a grey zone between the way in which the work of dialog boxes and palettes of way work, so I don't know if I'm just a useless way. Any idea would be appreciated.

    Here's a code example to illustrate what I'm doing:

    #target indesign

    main();

    function main(){
        if (app.documents.length == 0){createTestDoc();}
        runDialog();
    }

    function createTestDoc(){
        //create a test document
        var myDocPre = app.documentPresets.add({name: "testPre", createPrimaryTextFrame: true, pagesPerDocument: 5});
        var myDoc = app.documents.add(true, myDocPre);
        var myPSty = myDoc.paragraphStyles.add({name: "newPageSty", startParagraph: StartParagraph.NEXT_PAGE});
        var myCSty = myDoc.characterStyles.add({name: "CSty", underline: true});

        myDoc.textFrames[0].contents = "1\r2\r3\r4\r5";
        myDoc.textFrames[0].texts.everyItem().appliedParagraphStyle = myPSty;

        app.findTextPreferences = app.changeTextPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;
        app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = "^9";
        app.changeTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = myCSty;
        myDoc.changeText();

        myDocPre.remove();
    }

    function runDialog(){
        //find text with a particular character style and send that text to my dialog creation function.
        var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
        var myCSty = myDoc.characterStyles.itemByName("CSty");
        if (myCSty.isValid){
            app.findTextPreferences = app.changeTextPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;
            app.findTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = myCSty;
            var myResults = myDoc.findText();
            myDialog(myResults);
        }
    }

    function myDialog(textRngs){
        //create the dialog.
        var myWin = new Window("dialog", "Test Dialog", undefined);
        var mainGroup = myWin.add("group");

            myBut.onClick = function(){

                if (!(this.targetObject.hasOwnProperty("select") && this.targetObject.hasOwnProperty("showText"))) {}
                else{
                    this.targetObject.showText();
                    this.targetObject.select();

                    //OR
                    //tried this as an alternative, but setting myWin.visible does nothing.
                    //myWin.visible = false;
                    //myDoc.layoutWindows[0].activePage = this.targetObject.parentTextFrames[0].parentPage;
                    //myWin.visible = true;
                }
            }
        }
        var OKGrp = myWin.add("group");
        var OKBut = OKGrp.add("button", undefined, "OK");

            //do something
            myWin.close();
        }
        myWin.show();
    }

    You have no choice: If you want the script to interact with the text that you will need to use a palette.

  • Using change in lightroom to open PS I no longer get the dialog box about how I want to open the picture

    When I use the command Edit from lightroom to open PS I no longer get the dialog box asking if I want to make copy, edit original or edit on lightroom adjustments someone can help me to change my setting I can get the dialog box?

    You get only this dialog box when you open certain file type and not with other files of type. You get the TIF, JPG and PSD dialog box. On the RAW files, that you don't have. A RAW file is still a RAW file and always will the changes you have made in LR when sending it Psalm if you save the RAW file in PS to JPG, TIF or PSD and close this file. Then return to LR and make adjustments more on it, or not, and then send it to PS you'll get this dialog.

  • [JS CS5] problem with memory leak possible with the dialog box in the event handler

    Hello

    I'm having a very difficult problem.

    I am attaching a script in a handler for a menu item, by using an installation script menu that I wrote based on one by Marc Autret. My version of the script menu installation attach a bunch of event handlers at the same time, to the actions of different menu.

    What is the event handler, with that I have a problem is to prompt the user for a URL and then applies the URL as a hyperlink to the text selection, with our house style for the way in which the URL should look like.

    The problem is the following:

    1. all other installed menu actions work very well, except for this one.

    2. the addition of URL script works fine, when you run it directly from the script menu.

    3. the combination of #1 and #2 (using the script to add URL by function as an event handler in the Edit menu) blocks to InDesign. But it is only after the addition of URL script has finished and done what it was supposed to do!

    4. when I comment on the section of the script URL adding user input, so that instead of saying

    userInput = myDisplayDialog();

    It is said

    userInput = "http://thisworks.com";   // userInput = myDisplayDialog();

    It works well as an event handler.

    So obviously a problem with the dialog box, but only when adding URL script is executed as an event handler. My first guess is that this is some kind of memory leak, but I think I am following the model of. destroy() the way I saw it elsewhere.

    Someone knows something like that before?

    I can provide all relevant if necessary scripts, but they are quite complicated. The most important of them is the input of the user function. Here it is:

    var myDisplayDialog = function( defaultText ) {

        var defaultText = defaultText || "";

        var myDialog = app.dialogs.add({
            name: "Type in a URL"
        });

        var myOuterColumns = [];
        var myInnerColumns = [];
        var myOuterRows = [];
        var myBorderPanels = [];
        var myTextEditboxes = [];
        var myInput;

        myOuterColumns[0] = myDialog.dialogColumns.add();
        myOuterRows[0] = myOuterColumns[0].dialogRows.add();

        myBorderPanels[0] = myOuterRows[0].borderPanels.add();
        myInnerColumns[0] = myBorderPanels[0].dialogColumns.add();
        myInnerColumns[0].staticTexts.add({
            staticLabel: "URL:"
        });

        myInnerColumns[1] = myBorderPanels[0].dialogColumns.add();

        myTextEditboxes[0] = myInnerColumns[1].textEditboxes.add({
             minWidth: 300,
             editContents: defaultText ? defaultText : "http://"
        });

        var myResult = myDialog.show();
        var myInput = myTextEditboxes[0].editContents;

        myDialog.destroy();

        if (myResult == false) {
              exit();
        }

        return myInput;

    }

    Hello

    1. This occurs when you use a specific application or all applications?

    2 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

    3. have you installed all versions of Visual studio?

    4. What is the finished message, that you have found?

    You can try to perform a clean boot and see if it helps.

    A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

    You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    I don't think there is a possibility to change the leader element explore. It's a security issue.

  • Setting position of the dialog box

    I'll call the dialog function a simple button on the palette of the dialog box.  When running, the dialog box always appears in the center of the VI window, regardless of where the VI window.  The dialog box covers indicatorsthat, the user should see.

    Other that to move the indicators on the front panel, is there something that can be done to move the dialog box to be perhaps outside the front window?  I see no setting for a position of dialog.

    I know that I can always create a Subvi as a dialog box and define the position of the window, but I was wondering if the primitive location of Labview could be changed.

    What I did when I ran across something like this, it is to carry the message to display to the express VI user and right-click and select everything that the option is called to make a normal VI. Then you can dig in and copy the source code or save as and make a copy of change needed. In this way, you keep all the existing resize based on the input text if a message is displayed, etc.. I think that this VI dressed just the primitive dialogues, if you have a lot more flexibility

    I have a problem in my program of LV: 'I need my Subvi to behave like a dialog box.

    Design: if I call this Subvi (through the server VI - FPopen of the property node), my mainVI should NOT be controlled until the end of the Subvi. I think it's the same based on the dialog box, once the dialog box appears, we need to deal with first before you can make the controls of our main VI.

    my current status: I have two while loops, running in parallel: 1st loop for tracking data, 2nd loop of the menu setting. the Subvi that opens has been in the 2nd loop - it appears when I pushed the button (event structure/VIserver). now, once I called this Subvi, I can still click and control my mainVI that should not happen!

    I think it's quite possible, I don't know how. Anyone who knew this feature?

    Kind regards

    Properties of Sub - vi, the appearance of windows, click on Dialig.

  • Change "Date and time dialog box.

    Hi all.

    Is it possible to change the time and Date dialog box that is displayed in a time and a Date control? There are several details, I want to change, for example, translate the labels in Spanish, or remove the 'Help' button.

    Thank you very much

    Francisco

    Check out this thread.  http://forums.NI.com/NI/board/message?board.ID=170&message.ID=421557

    The dialog box is a VI that is stored in the directories of the LabVIEW program.  I would not recommend changes that affect everything else that you would do in LabVIEW.  But if you make a copy, do not show the button browse on your order, but do a similar button that calls the a copy of the VI that you modified to your liking and have your code to manage the treatment of this button as the writing of the date / time selected for the control, I think you do have a behavior similar to the way the native LabVIEW control behaves.

  • «Login process failed create the dialog box options security.»

    On a Vista desktop, startup takes up to 2 hours to display the desktop icons. After that the icons appear Finally, none will run. The error message before full boot, I get up, it's "" logon process failed create the dialog box options security. " I tried a clean boot, boot without failure, even booting with a boot disk and try to do a restore. All I get is "no restoration is available on this computer." Once he finally starts, I can run regedit, but not the Task Manager or any other executable. Finally had to reformat and reload, but would like an answer for this strange behavior.

    Hello

    You could deal with the issue because of some third-party security patches on the computer. Most of the time, it will be a virus on the connection process attack. She would not allow the user profile of all loading as well as the security settings of the created user profile.
