  Hi, I am in the need to reinstall several OEM XP installations, due to the failure of hard drives. I have the product key and the OEM cd. However, the product key on the sticker was already pasted on computers and CD have been labeled unfortunately not to the computer on which it was installed to.

  So I can use any cd to do the reinstall, or is there a way to find out which system belongs to the specific cd, or is there no other way but to try them one by one?

  If two CD's are a media generic OEM (not related to a manufacturing like Dell, HP, Etc.) either key will work with a CD as the two CDs are identical and is the product key that counts. You should have no problem re - install.  However the phone activation may be necessary.

• I can't activate a VM XP, I have a VLK license but the machine has been built with an oem license.

  I can not activate a virtual XP machine.  the virtual machine is a clone of a pc that has since been erased.  the original machine was probably activated with an OEM key.  I tried activating by phone and putting our license key of Volume without success.

  When you get to step installation product key, it can be easier to choose the activate later option.

  My hard drive starts to die, if I want to backup all my data and be ready in case it fails. One of the things on my list of verification is to ensure that I can reinstall Windows 7 if need be.

  I don't have in my possession a Windows reinstallation disk, so I want to create a USB bootable for windows 7. The link to the .isos DIgital River that I use to create my bootable USB key doesn't work for users with OEM licenses. Very annoying, but I can legally get a Dell reinstall drive instead. But Dell wouldn't send me reinstallation disks because my warranty with Dell expired.

  The result of this is that if your a manufacturer guarantee expired, you can no longer reinstall windows on the same computer!

  Dell says it is responsible for providing the relevant recovery media, including Windows used to do with the Digital River .isos, but who no longer work for people with Microsoft's Windows 7 OEM license.   Please provide the exact point of the software & OS installed on your system. Also check if it is there any update available for the software after going through "help > check updates.

  You can check after connecting this scanner locally to the system if asked its connected on network & then look for the same thing.

  AFAIK, except if you have a few programming specifialised run SW, Windows Scheduler did a good job.
