Anyone having problems with this update being installed. I tried the MS recommended download (totally different number of KB) that does not all advice is appreciated.
Finally, fixed it by installing this mode without failure:

Updates are set to notify and in recent weeks when the icon is clicked on a page with a list (of long) is presented and when you click it to download a few seconds the router activity ago then the action stop and the icon disappears. Some updates are: KB2888505, KB2858302, KB2596615, KB2596672, KB2596785, KB2687311, KB2687499, KB2760416, KB2596843, KB2510531 and KB2596848. Some of them appear old enough so I don't know what gives. Until this problem started, the machine was up-to-date and updates were install normally.
If a manual update is requested check page shows no activity or is running continuously.

Your instructions helped me to start good SONGS. Properties of BITS came as shown with the current runtime. Was able to update of 16 of the 17 updates. .NET framework 4 failed (KB2858302v2). .NET repair tool does not accomplish a repair so I downloaded a new copy of .NET and installed in repair mode. The last update then installed successfully.
Now, everything's fine. Thanks a lot for your help. John.
