  You can use the same key to activate a 32 or 64-bit version as long as it's the same edition.

  I suggest that to contact dell about your problem

  You should be able to get the recovery disc of them who won't need any input on your part

  Off my laptop while it updates installed, I turned on and typed my password and was presented with a window telling me that the "windows vista product key I typed is invalid for activation. However, I never typed in a product key.

  (I had a problem with my computer over Christmas where I had to get my computer sent in as there was a problem with the sound card.)

  I had a virus on my windows vista Home premium. the virus makes sure windows does not even start. so I booted from my windows disk and tried to date back my PC to an earlier time.   E the key must be in the packaging in which the DVD came - or if you have purchased an OEM copy, you should have stuck the label on the case of the machine on which it was installed.

  If you can't find it, but the machine still works the operating system, use Belarc Advisor to retrieve the key.

  I have this problem I got a windows activation key but if I type the code it says my code is in use, so I havn't given my code to anyone I know that there is no chance that someone else might use it. My 30 expires today so if I can't run my windows no longer work and I need to reinstall the system.
