• Inserting a new record in the database using a form empty ADF

  I'm trying to insert a new record into the database using a form.
  
  I have an Employee table and its corresponding entity object and the view object. The table has an id that is used as the primary key and is filled using a sequence in the comic book.
  
  Data controls, I dragged and dropped at the sight of the employee as a form of ADF and checked the submit button include. Then I dragged and dropped the validation on submit button operation.
  
  When I connect to the app and go to the page used to create, I have 2 problems:
  1 - the form is filled with the logged in user info.
  2. If I try to change the news and validation, the user info is changed in the database and no new record is created.
  
  It makes a little sense to me, but I would like to know if there is a way around it (get an empty form and insert a new record).
  NB: the employee id is not part of the form, I want to be filled using the sequence.

  User, please tell us your jdev version!

  To do this, you must create a new record before going to the display of the form page. In a stubborn workflow (btf), you drag the operation createInsert of the VO on the btf and it will generate a link method, add a view to the btf and put a navigation of the binding of the method of the page. Mark the method as 'Activity by default'. Now, ren, you call the workflow, you create a new record that will show your blank form.

• What is the best way to migrate from forms to ADF?

  We are in a big mess. Our company has been developing Oracle Forms for more than 15 years. We have applications developed in Forms 6i and 10 g. We have about 5 products and these 5 products have different versions of 25 to 30. that is, we maintain about 30 different versions of our applications. Each version of the application has about 100 forms and 100 States.
  
  Now, given that the forms came at the end of life of 11 g we want to pass to the ADF. We tried forms of ADF migration tools but failed. So now, we decided to manually to rewrite applications in the ADF.
  
  Our forms / PL/SQL developers, designers and analysts (about 40 in total) are all people of Oracle Forms. They have no experience in Java.
  
  What I want to know is:
  (1) what is the BEST way to do this?
  (2) need to learn Java, JSF, and ADF? (i.e. every 3)?
  (3) it is mandatory to learn JSF?
  (4) assuming that may benefit from a full training, how much time will it take for people of forms learn the ADF?
  (5) what kind of training will be necessary? (Java, JSF, ADF and JDeveloper etc..)
  (6) how LONG will take? that is to train all 40, then to rewrite an application forms 100 + 100 + reports? (Ballpark is OK).
  (7) any other technology we should learn?

  Obvoiusly liked you training the better, but I think the minimum would

  (1) Java skills - I think to start, 1 or two days read some thing like head first Java http://www.amazon.com/Head-First-Java-Kathy-Sierra/dp/0596009208
  (2) I would then get the http://www.amazon.com/Quick-Start-Oracle-Fusion-Development/dp/0071744282/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1343201618&sr=1-1&keywords=jdeveloper+quick of "The Quick Start Guide to Fusion Development" (declaration: I am the author so have an interest, but I still think it's a good point of departure - this should be about 2-3 days to read and also to try things.)

  I think it would be the absolute MINIMUM at least be able to build basic applications and begin to feel your way all also described in the http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11gdemos/ADFTour/ADFTour.html 'ADF COLLATERAL TOUR' could be shot as you start to build a proof of concept. However, I would say don't you try to build a real application with a single exposure of weeks (in the same way, I don't expect you to design a database of product with the formation of a week only). I would probably expect your developers to have at least the above training, then spend a month or so evidence of (minimum) building of the concepts (or test themselves with the ADF Insider Essentials tasks). In addition, I would probably expect to have at least a senior developer/architect, with much more experience that may be decisions on things like reuse, partitioning, architecture, etc..

  Of course, it's all subjective, but I hope it helps.

  I use jdeveloper 11g and I am trying to set up a stubborn workflow (type of train), station a theres a search ADF form where the user selects a record, at the station two form should present all the options related to the selected record on the station one and the possibility of introducing new information. I have the ViewObject for station 2, but I don't know where to put the code for "setNamedWhereClauseParam" and then run the query. Or in other words, how to pass the value of the key selected on station 1 station 2 as the parameter at the request of VO?

  trains allow you to navigate between pages. So if there is a dependency between page1 and page2, where page 2 must have 1 page visited, so I think you should alow direct access to page 2. To answer your question

  -Create a file IMPL for the ViewObject to filter by the ViewCriteria
  -Create a public method that takes the input parameters required for bind variables
  -in the VOImpl define the VC and the bind varoables
  -run the VO
  -Create a public method (still on the VO2) ClientInterface
  -1 page write the parameters of the selected query in #{requestScope.param1},...
  -Drag and drop the client method as a method between page1 and page2 so the query call activity is performed
  -On the arguments to the method, use #{requestScope.param1} to read the search criteria in

• Presentation of forms does not match

  I spent the best part of 8 hours to recreate from scratch - a form that has a group check box, and then a group of Radio buttons, because he had a litany of insects to explain.  I don't know they're working when they are simple.  But in my case, I had need of 8 radio buttons with text and they perform (stick, at the choice of the object) or corresponding to the preview in the browser vs. Safari, Chrome or Firefox.  3 strikes and I'm out.  When I publish to the catalyst for business, I lose my bottom border and rounded corner.

  I gave in and removed the option buttons.  (Yes, I checked so to double all States)

  But now, I can not the bottom of the message box to show that it is the rounded edge and rule.  He didn't explain, other than the 6 hours of a little powerful widget.  Is there a better workflow - solution - for the widget simple contact form?  I'm sorry I ask work around the software, but if you look at the pix and all other attempts, I did, you'll see why.

  I was very happy to see what I'm looking for a similar solution for awhile.

  Hello, to a project that I am, we are to modernize Oracle Forms (11g on the web) to ADF Jdeveloper 11. XXX - we are looking at keeping the same server or to go to a new server with more basic, but which would increase our license costs.
  
  The question I would like to know is if ADF requires a faster server get the same service. I ask this question because I noticed that it takes longer to open ADF created forms etc. with Oracle Forms.
  
  Any suggestions? Stories of misfortune?

  I migrate an application Forms FAD, and a conclusion: we need more memory on your servers. Just a little, but you know Oracle ADF consume more memory than FORMS, because it is full JAVA.

  First of all, I am a total newbie with jdeveloper & jheadstart.
  
  Our next project is to migrate our oracle forms 6i to java. During a search, I met jheadstart forms2adf generator.
  I downloaded and installed to test it... but as I read the documentation evaluation copy is not forms2adf generator.
  My boss wants to see the actual migration before buying a product and she wants to test everything first, and it's a big problem for me.
  
  Are there other forms oracle for java migration options that I can test?

  For the specific of JHeadstart please post on this forum, however, while JHeadstart is a great tool, it is limited in what it can automatically migrate. He won't do anything with ANY of your PL/SQL triggers. It's actually a good thing since its pretty much impossible to know how you migrate each trigger - unless you want something that looks and behaves like an application FOrms, which is not the purpose of the ADF.

  Please read https://blogs.oracle.com/grantronald/entry/migrating_forms_to_java_or - I guarantee you are 200% clear about your reasons for migration until you consider it - it will cost in dollars, time and risks and so you should be able to demonstrate a commercial advantage to make it--otherwise, you should stick to what you have in the forms.

  Use case: I have a data name AppModulDataControl control it has used view object .i just want to create new employee. I have a jsf page when I drag and drop object views it does not show the Virgin filed. the field has some value .i just want the Virgin filed. • conversion of forms app ADF and 'user '.

  We are about to task conversion of a form to the adf application.
  
  There is a lot of code pl/sql backend, triggers to audit using the 'user' built in the function call which is not very useful if the adf application happens to connect as a user to define a user name in the context of security or something of this nature.
  
  don't we have any other choice than cross and change the function call 'user' to something else?

  By default, your application will use a user to connect to the database by a pool of connections, which is the preferred option for scalability. However if you create a new application on top a big Oracle legacy system database where it is not, you can change the default behavior of the ADF to use what is called the 'dynamic JDBC powers'. In this mode, the name of user and password is used to connect to the database, effectively using the credentials of the user to connect to the database and basically the database user function returns the desired result.

  If for you it is a question of:

  (a) if the ultimate scalability is the priority, convert your existing code above to stop using 'user '.
  (b) if scalability is not a priority, but the support for your legacy database infrastructure is, go with the dynamic option JDBC of credentials.

  I have an ADF Table read-only and the shape of the ADF, which were created from the same data control.
  I need to be able to edit the selected table in the form line (as in the 'Controls data binding to your JSF page' part of 'Development of RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF' tutorial). However, I can't figure out how to make :(
  
  I found the following solution on the Web: #{bindings. DeptView1.currentRow.dataProvider.dname} - but it does not, since "the oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowImpl class does not have the dataProvider.

  As far as I KNOW, the dataProvider only is not supported on ADF BC, where the error.

  If you have created the table on my own reading of the ADF and the form of the same data control simply refresh the form based on the table selection is displayed recording selected, for which this just add partialTriggers property to the panelFormLayout and set its value to the id of table

• Do I need to recompile the forms if a group of patches a request from the Organization?

  I currently have an application Oracle - Forms and reports only (10.1.2) Server installation and a few forms running on the server applications. I need to at least apply patch 2 (10.1.2.2) group to the Application Server but do not know if we should also apply the Group of hotfixes to an Oracle Developer Suite installation and recompile the forms in the same version.
  Can someone please advise?

  In a major release version you don't need to compile. We guarantee that. Between major releases (9-10 > 10-> 11) you must recompile.
