Lenovo of CAB files

Hello

I tried searching in this forum but could not find a valid answer.

I can't find all the cab files driver downloads on the Lenovos sites. I'll deploy several computers using MDT and it would be helpful if I can get my hands on the drivers on an easy path.

Concerning

Gabriel

Gab_strand,

Lenovo supports the cab files downloadable driver on the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) Package Index located here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht074984

Thank you

    Hi Madgaming,

If you are still having the same problem, then you can try to install in XP compatibility mode:

-Right click on the file setup.exe

    -Click on the Compatibility tab.
-Place a check on "run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows XP.

  • Corrupt CAB file

I am trying to install Windows Media Player 11 and make me an error message saing I have insufficient disk space to Exchange files or have a corrupted .cab file.  I don't have a problem with low disk space, so I think it has to do with the CAB file.  Also I am not able to install other programs beside the media player and need to update my drivers.  I am running Windows XP Home Edition.
It's the exact error I get installing Media Player
"Extraction of file failed. It is probably caused by low memory (low disk space for swap files) or corrupted Cabinet file. »

Navigate to the click on the right from my computer to the disc, and then select Properties tools.   Run scandisk and fix all errors.   Then run Defrag.

Then, if the source of Media Player is a DVD: wash the disc with warm water with a drop of washing dishes hand liwuid. Rinse with plenty of hot water and dry with a clean, lint cloth. If this is fropm a file DL, re - download.

    Restart and try again.

  • Can I delete my PC *.cab files?

I'm running out of space on my hard drive and noticed that a nice piece of memory is used for my cab files.  Some are installation of iTunes files, some files from Disk Cache in my i386 directory.

    Any thoughts?

How much is "a nice piece"?  Deleting files because you are low on hard disk space is a futile effort.  Buy a larger hard drive.  They are very cheap these days, and most come with a free software that allows you to clone your existing to the new disk drive.  If you can't at least temporarily to install a second drive in your computer, you can buy a cheap connected by USB (or eSATA if your computer supports) external hard drive enclosure.  When you are done with the cloning operation, you can use your old drive in the external box for backup.

    With regard to your questions:

Regarding the files related to iTunes, you can, as suggested by NoMo, ask an Apple forum.  Or you can identify exactly where these files are located, and what makes you think they are installation of iTunes files.  I have the remains of 7 or 8 latest installations of iTunes on my old XP machine, but no iTunes don't cab files.  Most probably, you can remove safely iTunes install files.  If it turns out that the files that you delete actually required by iTunes for execution, you can always download and install the latest version.

On the other hand, deleting files from the i386 is a bad idea, unless you have a genuine Windows XP installation CD.  If you're dead set on the removal of the files in this directory, I strongly suggest that you burn all the directory on a CD first.  Sometimes the files in c:\i386 (or C:\Windows\ServicePackFile\i386) are needed to replace a damaged operating system file.  It doesn't happen very often, but if this happens and you have deleted the files, you will be very unhappy.

  • CAB file

How can I change a cab for an exe file? is there a way to do this?

    Hello

    Cabinet (file format)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet _(file_format)

What is a CAB (.cab) file?
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd361921.aspx

The CAB files are ZIP files which means that they are compressed so they take less space the
hard drive. The CAB files are called CAB files. Vista and Windows 7 supports internal
CAB files. To open a CAB file double-click it and it will open in similar to Windows Explorer
a folder (not a real one) but if you right-click on an internal file there will be fewer options.
CAB should in fact be left along unless you really have a reason to open because they are often
installation/execution of system or program files-based.

You do not change a CAB for an EXE file but you can decompress the file for access to the
    content.

More control of the CAB, ZIP and other compressed file formats using 7 - ZIP.

  • If .cab files to be scanned against problems?

My computer uses Vista. My Avast! antivirus does not scan the .cab files. There are probably 100 + of these files, they require a lot of space on drive C? How can I identify them and their need to remove those who will not compromise the operation of the computer. These files should be scanned for problems

    http://www.Tech-Pro.NET/HOWTO-Open-cab-file.html

Above indicates which .cab files do and are.

The CAB files are used because they take less space to store and take less time to send or download. They are also a great way to pack and send groups of related files. However, you cannot run a program directly from a Cab file. The files need to be extracted or unpacked from archive before they can be used.

    I wouldn't be deleting.

  • Dell Cab files

Deploy images by using MDT and like Dell Cab files, and they work very well. My question is really recommended. I noticed that Dell's Cab files have. EXE and other system files that are not. INF. should I be filter the inf files, or simply let MDT import what he thinks he needs? Thank you, first time poster. Steve

    Hi Henry,.

While you can cut out upward the driver packages upward even more far, I suggest you leave them as-is and just let MDT choose what suits him.  Some INF driver actually share this copy these additional files on you as part of the pilot injection deal so well unless you want to go thru and really watch every pilot and what he does, I'd leave it as-is.

They are tested and functional as long as - is and which is part of the advantage of the CAB files.  Dell has already done the work for you!

    I hope this helps.

  • Garry s Mod 13, install DirectX has failed, "a .cab file is needed for installation is not reliable?

    Hey!

I did research on this problem literally all over the web, on the forums, support contact Dell and Microsoft hardware too.

But the question is always free!

-Very well, so I recently downloaded 13 beta Garry Mod, and I wanted to play. I clicked on 'Play' and he said:

    "Error!"

You need to update DirectX - google search for "DirectX Runtime" "

So, I put google and downloaded the link he gave me. I ran the program, and that's what happned:

    "Initializing...". »

    "Installation of components: "

    DirectX Runtime Opitonal Componets.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, a window pops up saying:

"A .cab file is needed for installation is not reliable." Please check the cyptographique Services are enabled and the certificate file is valid. »

After clicking 'OK', it goes back to the origional instalation window saying "Installation failed."

I'm extremely lost here, I searched for answers, but none of them seem to apply or work.

I have Windows 7 on an Alienware M14XR2.

  • How to remove the .cab files? Is it safe to remove?

    * Original title: .cab files

My drive is almost full (137/149 Gb), I ve try to clean with different programs, but only got rid of abt 2 GB. Now the WinDirStat program shows that 52% or 70 GB is taken up by the 'Unknown' wire CAB FILES.  That means these and is - it safe to try to remove them?

    Launurn

It depends on what they are and where they are.  The CAB files are usually left overs from the installation of things like updates.  You can run the Disk Cleanup Wizard (which is fairly careful about what he deletes) should remove them safely.  Make sure you check "clean up system files" when you run it

BTW it is a free 3rd party app called Treesize (by Jam software) gives you much more information on the "unknown" and more detail in the larger files, etc.  Looks like this

  • Create custom. CAB file

Is it possible to create a .cab file to compress files as a .zip file?

Yes it is, but because it is not commonly used (as ZIP), you must do it from the command line yourself.  Use the command "makecab /?" at the command prompt to learn more on this subject and examples.
