LIFEDRIVE & Vista

Is there anyway that I can get my Lifedrive to work with Vista 32 bit?

I was never able to make it work. When I install the software that came with my drive, it screws upward with my computer, so since the day I got it, I've been able to use it as a removable disk, or send/receive files via bluetooth.

I've looked everywhere & can't find the updates, new downloads, nothing that addresses this issue.

Us Palm, lifedrive homeowners completely alone? Or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

All the way back on 20 January 2008, I've tested the LifeDrive with Windows Vista and Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  You can read my notes here.  The only thing I would add now, some two and a half years later is that PalmHotSyncSetup of Pimlico (free) lets devices to HotSync Palm OS running Palm OS version 5.2.1 and who do not have the PIMS Palm reinforced installed.

  • Problem with Lifedrive Manager on a Machine MS Vista

I used my Lifedrive for a long time since a MS Windows XP Home Office successfully.  This summer, I got a new laptop which has Windows Vista Home Premium.  I am able to use the Palm Desktop software and hotsync for the XP desktop and laptop of Vista.  I am, however, problems with Lifedrive Manager.  Whenever I start the laptop, I get a message that the machine could not initialize "PalmOneRemoteLibrary."  I ignored the message because I could do everything I needed up to today.  When I tried to start the LifeDrive Manager (impetus provided by a message that asked that I install my photos using LifeDrive Manager), I got the PalmOneRemoteLibrary error message.

I realize that this machine can be a relic, but I really like it, and I did a lot of use of it.  My LifeDrive machine runs Palm OS Garnet 5.4.8.  I recently put a mass of images on the internal drive using 'Training Mode'.

Am I correct the LifeDrive Manager is inevitably incompatible with Windows Vista, and which is the source of my problem?  Any difficulty that I could try?  Any other ideas?

Hello blue8star and welcome to the forums of Palm.

The LifeDrive Manager application, unfortunately, is not compatible with Windows Vista.  Palm said they aren't going to release a update for the abandoned PDA.  (By the way, I have a palmOne LifeDrive and always use it often.)

To load on the LifeDrive bulk data, you have the right idea, use the Drive Mode.

I put my lifedrive software disc in and the computer will not install the software or just does not recognize.

The software on the CD is not compatible with Vista. You will need to download Palm desktop from our Web site. The drive of life Manager software is not available for Vista.

  • Cannot add program with function Install using Palm 6.2, Vista SP1 and LifeDrive

    Hello

I am trying to add go to my Palm. I click on install from the sidebar of the office, then Add and point to the filez.prc file. However I get a message saying that the file cannot be copied. The tool, the installation program uses to do this is the tool of QuckInstall. Should I use another tool? I heard that QuickInstall does not work with 6.2.

    Thank you

Looks like it's time for a "clean uninstall" and reinstall Palm Desktop.

  • I can not connect the Lifedrive to Internet via bluetooth or Wi - fi

I've had my lifedrive for about 4 years now. It was a gift, and I've never used it that much; Only, I downloaded some pictures, songs & used the calendar; as I didn't have a computer of my own.

Now, I have a computer with Windows Vista, & I was hoping I would finally get some use out of my lifedrive. But first, the cd accompanying software was not compatible with Vista (& I can't find any way or find a compatible download), & the most important thing is that I can't connect to Internet on my lifedrive via Wi - fi or even bluetooth. This function, I have never used before, so I'm starting to think that it's something wrong from the factory.

When I connect to the Internet in a WiFi zone, & then I try to open the browser (blazer), it resets every time, & I can read this message: "memory Mgr.c, line: 3759, Word-non-aligned handle.

When I try to connect to the Internet using bluetooth through my laptop (cable modem) Internet connection, I get this message as soon as I click on 'connect': ' errorerial: Timeout. " Could be a bad cable or defective Modem (0 x 0305)»

My computer & lifedrive are paired, & this pairing has worked in the past.

I did a hard-reset of my lifedrive, as this seemed to be advised in your site, but the problem persists.

Any ideas, please? Because I'm in the point to get rid of him.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you installed all the updates last driver for your device?

You cannot simply connect to a computer via BlueTooth and go online without establishing a PPP portal.  Take a look at softick ppp here:

  • Life in car and Windows Vista 64-bit

So, to be clear, what I read that looks like my drive of life is not compatible with Vista?  Is it true that Palm is going?

    Thank you

    Roberta

Hello Roberta and welcome on Palm forums.

No Palm OS, including the LifeDrive device, is compatible with the 64-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows XP.  This is due to the lack of a 64-bit USB driver that is required to perform a HotSync cable.  If your PC has Bluetooth, you can synchronize your LifeDrive via a Bluetooth wireless connection.  For more information on the use of Bluetooth, see this thread.

I want to subscribe to Apple music etc, but the upgrade will not take effect, apparently due to the fact that my laptop running Windows Vista. Of course, this is not normal? How can I subscribe to the Apple's music on the Windows Vista system without being forced to invest in a costly upgrade of my operating system?

  • I'm running Thunderbird ver15 under Win Vista. Gmail considers ver15 a low security application. How updated to a version that works with Gmail?

This worm is working great for years. Suddenly, Gmail could not accept my sign-in. I have auto day together in Thunderbird, but it won't go past worm 15. Only after that I changed the setting in Gmail to enable low security Gmail applications would allow me in my emails via Thunderbird. I could connect to Gmail via the web very well, but not via Thunderbird. Could this be a problem with Vista?

    Thank you
    Richard

Then I tried to configure server authentication to "OAuth2" method, but this option was not available. in the drop-down list.

"OAuth2" only works for IMAP accounts. For POP "Normal password" is required, either in "allow applications that are less safe" or authentication step 2.

You can set if "OAuth2' for SMTP server outgoing.

When your problem has been fixed can you mark the thread as "solved" Please?

  • Basics of microsoft, as installed on vista, still works after that I have switch to firefox?

I am moving from Vista to Firefox and want to know if Microsoft Essentials will continue to run after I made the change. MSE has preformed well for many years and I would like to avoid having to change to another anti-virus program.

Actually, you will still have Windows Vista, even if you use Firefox rather than the browser Internet Explorer (IE) that comes with Windows.

Another browser of your choice requires no modification of your security software. Also, it does not replace your security software. Unlike some programs that require special configuration steps, Firefox and Microsoft Essentials should get along very well.

  • Every time I have download and install updates to vista security I have reinstall mozilla firefox, why?

Whenever I have download and install the vista security updates I lose Mozilla Firefox. The program and the icon still exist but do not respond. By clicking on the icon or clicking on the program files does produce absolutely no response.
So any time I install updates, I have to run internet explore and firefox redownload. Most annoying. Help.
P.S. Yes, firefox is my default browser.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program has been implemented.
trust the previous version of Firefox, but not more acknowledges your
update as being approved. Now how do I solve the problem: to allow
Firefox to connect to the Internet

    • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (for example, you are using the latest version).
    • Delete Firefox to list your program of programs approved or recognized. For detailed instructions, see

    Configure the firewall so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Microsoft has said that it cannot obtain free Windows 10 update, if you have Windows 7/8.1, but you should be able to get on Windows Vista, I think...

When I open the installer of Windows 10, or media creation tool, that's what's happening:

  • When does end for Windows Vista?

I have 9 that is set as my default browser and understand the extended support will end in April 2017 according to Microsoft. I was not able to upgrade to Windows 7 on this P.C. & would like to know if there is no date scheduled for Firefox Support in Windows Vista? I set Firefox as my browser default if Vista will be supported for several years if taken in charge as it is now. What kind of support will be offered, as appropriate, in the future?

A date has not been set. Actually WinXP SP2 & 3 are still supported by Mozilla for Firefox. I doubt if Mozilla support for Vista will end anytime in the near future.

Overall, Mozilla does not select arbitrary deadlines to end operating system, Windows 2000 was the last to fall by the wayside on the need for Mozilla to update the program that was used to set up Firefox. The new version has not only supported Windows 2000 or Windows XP and WinXP SP1.
