  Where can I find my catalog? This program works perfectly for 6 months. So that's what happened when I tried to re - open LIGHTROOM on my IMAC OSX 10.9.5 5.7... now I can't go through a screen that says "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - select a catalog...". and there is a list that says "select a recent catalog to open...". BUT there is no listed catalogue click. WHERE is my 17 000 photo book? (everything was working fine until I added another FOLDER called ARchive and is my external storage drive...) How to use this form?

  PS I'd also renamed the PICTURES to THE PICTURES folder, don't you think not that LIghtroom cannot find it now? I looked for the .lrcat extensions and found a series of backups, so how can I get the LIghtroom program to find the catalog?

  Of course, this is why Lightroom cannot find the catalog. But if you go to the folder all IMAGES should have a Lightroom folder. And inside this folder, you will find your catalog. It has the .lrcat extension. There are other files in this folder as well as Lightroom depends on. And since you renamed your pictures folder Lightroom cannot find these either. In any case, double-click the catalog file in the new location and everything should be good.

  Programs are designed to run on the dependencies in different folders. It's really not a good idea to rename you arbitrarily a folder. In fact, I would really say that you change the name of this folder to what it was originally, and let it. It's a standard folder that other programs might be addicted as well.

  And just to clarify, I would like to rename your PHOTOS ALL at what it was originally before you start looking for the catalogue and double click on it as I suggested. This folder of photos could almost supposed to constitute a system folder, in my opinion. It's that I don't think needs to be renamed.

  I don't know why, it's looking for CS4, since I upgraded to CS5.5 over a year there and then to the CS6, a year ago.

  Did you delete CS4?  If so some users of file association problem.

  First try to edit/Preferences/file type association.  Change the extension in CS6.  If this does not work, see this link for a fix of the registry.

  This afternoon Adobe installed the Windows Installer Package and managed to extract CS5.1; However, when I enter the serial number I get Error Message: "the serial number entered is valid, but cannot find our product calling it on this computer.

  The first part is excellent news and solves the problem initially registered.

  For S/N, however, there are a few more questions:

  1. Was this an upgrade, that you downloaded?
  2. You have a qualifying copy of PS, to upgrade?
  3. I have never installed or placed at level of a download, so don't know don't not how that could work, but with the program on a physical medium, there are two S/N, one for the installer, and that S/N tell the installer if we do an initial installation or an upgrade. With an upgrade, it will usually take S/N of the eligible program. Any questions S/n, that isn't a quick response because I suggest strongly to calling customer service Adobe (not Adobe Technical Support), with all bills, S/N, etc., very convenient. They can deal with problems of S/N faster, as long as the user has the necessary numbers and paperwork.

• Can I retrieve a picture from a video (in Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5)?

  I am running Windows 7 and Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.  Extract an image of one. MOV file is way over my head, but I want to try.  Right now the file is in Lightroom, but the options ' open in ' are grayed out.  I exported the file on my desktop and I can play the video with Windows Media Player.  I bet that somewhere, somehow, there's a way to do what I want.  Help, ideas or references would be very appreciated!

  When you say "Extract an image", do you mean save one executives as an image in Photoshop?

  Here's what you can do:

  1. open the video in Photoshop file > open and select the .mov file.

  2. once the video opens in Photoshop, open the Animation Panel, window > Animation

  3. in the Animation Panel, move the playhead to the desired image, and then save it as an image, file > save as.

  and Voila!

  Lightroom will do what you want, I suggest d/loading of the 30 day trial and import this picture to see what you can do. All work in Lr are non-destructive. Before you start I recommend watching some of the videos on AdobeTV to see what you can do and when to do it.

  I use Lr 95% of the time now instead of PS and I'm well organized with filing and research. Something that wasn't so easy before.

  I just started using a new Mac Pro.  My old Mac Pro had installed Photoshop CS5.1.  I want to install it on the new Mac, but difficulties as follows:

  I normally expect to download the installer and drag it directly into the Applications folder.  But instead, when I clicked on the disk image, a set of files came.  One was marked "install".  When I double-clicked who, a dialog box told me that the file was damaged and should I eject the disk image.

  Could someone help?  I have the serial number ready - it was of course a legitimate purchase directly from Adobe - but I can't get there!

I get the message "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I don't have any idea what may be causing this. I'm not openeing another file type in photoshop in other words, it has been started and saved as a photoshop document and now it does not open.   Navigate to the file using windows Explorer and see what the extension is.

  which should be .psd or. PSD for a photoshop psd file. Sometimes the files may end

  to the top with two extensions, which confuses photoshop.

  Example: my file.png.psd

  Also you may need to enable display the extensions of the file types in the folder options.

  Try to open the file in photoshop by using file > open and choose psd.

  The version of Camera Raw that see you in Lightroom, it is what is incorporated for Lightroom...

  What version of Photoshop are you using?  OK, I see you say CS6

  It maybe now CS6 takes no more updates for ACR... Let me check.

  EDIT: Ok ACR9.1.1 is the last version for CS6 so that you will always get now that opening from Lightroom... you must choose Lightroom to make... and then when you want to edit the PSD in Photoshop still choose to modify the Original.
