Limit connection

Is it possible to limit which can connect? I don't think that this really is a problem, but I would ask at the thought. Right now, I have a group named VMware Admins who are assigned to roles, if during this announcement, members of the group connection they get a dashboard. If it is a member of the LDAP account is created, but the user is unable to connect until the administrator grants permission. I'd rather see a refused connection if possible?

Hello tkutil,
If the user does not have any assigned role/s then you will see an error message (which I think you did already). If the user cannot do any activity in Foglight console until the administrator affects her role/s. I don't know if she should necessarily reject a connection because as long as the user provides correct credentials (name and password), it is a valid connection.
Hope that helps.

  • PIX-limit connections embrionic & total between INSIDE and OUTSIDE.

    It is medium possible and straight forward to limit the number of connections embrionic and total if a PIX from the outside to the inside by using the parms in the NAT and STATIC commands.

    This list is possible to limit the embrionic connections and total from one host to the PIX INSIDE make the connections to the outside?

    Follow these steps exactly the same way. Assume that the host inside is 10.1.1.1.

    Keep in mind that if you have the following:

    public static 50.50.50.50 (Interior, exterior) 10.1.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 1000 25

    Then, it creates a static for the inside host 10.1.1.1 and will limit connections to or FROM this host to 1000.

    If you do not want to chew a static (and an external address) for this inside the host, you can do something like the following:

    Global interface 20 (external)

    NAT (inside) 20 10.1.1.1 1000 25

    and outbound connections to this host will be PAT had the address of the external interface, but will be limited to 1000 connections or semi-open 25.

  • How to limit connections wireless just mine?

    I have a laptop on my home network connected to the Internet via my router wireless.

    I want to stop the connections to other areas except mine - how can I do this?

    In my short tests any wireless network SSID, I put in the blocked list and hide thereafter, was persistent after a reboot of my laptop, IE. I didn't yet see the network stuck in the list of available wireless networks. You many need to open network and sharing Center , and then select manage wireless networks (at left) and then delete the unwanted networks your laptop connected earlier from this list.

    Have you looked at the netsh wlan add filter enable command string? Who can do what you want insofar as only being allowed to connect to your network. The downside is that if you take the laptop on a remote site you may not be able to connect to the available public wireless networks. I have not tested this.

    Commissioning of script is another problem. I have not tried which either, but will if I get the chance.

    Ahhhh... Al, your second paragraph (first cited above) seems to address the issue of persistence, I'm assuming that could not be solved by a startup script. Of course, we should do a cleaning of the networks unwanted help to manage wireless networks.

    Looking at the netsh commands, may be running following may operate.

    netsh wlan add filter permission = denyall networktype = adhoc
    netsh wlan add filter permission = denyall networktype = infrastructure
    netsh wlan set blockednetworks = display hide
    netsh wlan add filter permission = allow ssid = ssid1 networktype = infrastructure

    where ssid1 is my SSID. In other words, all deny, hide all, and then grant ssid1 only. The question is now - would undo the last command the other...?   ;-) - Wayne

    Yes, it works. I ran chains of command...

    netsh wlan add filter permission = denyall networktype = infrastructure
    netsh wlan set blockednetworks = display hide
    netsh wlan add filter permission = allow ssid = My_SSID networktype = infrastructure
    netsh wlan add filter permission = allow ssid = My_SSID_G networktype = infrastructure

    As you noted all the neighbors of wireless networks have been blocked and hidden while I was able to connect to my two networks, the only ones listed in the list of available networks.

    Now, caution is that it is perfect for a desktop wireless PC because it does not move physically.

    With a laptop, you'd be only able to connect to your wireless home network. That is obviously not desirable if you travel at all or take your laptop for work, etc. In this case, I recommend blocking and hidding individual networks one compared to ordering of denyall coverage.

  • limit connection based on the time interval

    Hello world.
    I would like to know, how do I restrict a user to connect to the database on specific times? For example, I want the user db to be able to connect after 23:00, of 08:AM. Is this possible?

    Hello

    Not sure if there is a medium setting to do this now, but if not, a logon trigger should do (you can select the users, it applies to).

    Something like:

    create or replace trigger deny_login
      after logon on database
    BEGIN
      IF sys_context('USERENV', 'SESSION_USER') = 'NO_PRIVS' THEN
        IF to_char(SYSDATE, 'hh24') BETWEEN 08 AND 22 THEN
          raise_application_error(-20001,
                                  'Sorry, it is not permitted to logon to the DB at this time as this user');
        END IF;
      END IF;
    END deny_login;

    Kind regards

  • Connections by PIX 515 Citrix

    I have a site that is complaining that their Citrix connection is to have abandoned several times per day. This seems to be specific to the site. I read of some limited on some firewall at a specified time SSL connections.

    The PIX will limit connections to a specified time (active or inactive)? If so, how would it change? It is editable by IP address?

    The PIX will limit connections based on a timeout value. Time-out values are global and cannot be applied to an individual IP address. Time-out values can be changed with the command "timeout" in the PIX. You can view the current timeout values by issuing the command 'show timeout '. Here is a link for more information on the timeout command.

  • VSphere Client limit "the virtual machine console.

    Hello

    I have done several searches and could not find anything relevant so I thought I'd post the question.

    I have ESXi 4.0 running with the installation of 3 virtual machines. I connect to the ESXi 4.0 via Client.exe vSphere hypervisor in windows.  I have a couple of people using the same account. For this reason, we have noticed that, if one of us is connected to a virtual machine, the other person can open the console of the virtual machine also and mess with what they do.  He warns that many people are watching the same virtual machine with the bar at the top of the screen indicating there are now 2 sessions of active console.

    My question is: is there a way to limit the client to only allow a connection active console both to a virtual machine?  That way if someone is already logged in / virtual console and a view, no one else can.

    I understand that I can create several vSphere client accounts with restrictions on the permission to have each account only have access to a specific virtual machine, but I would like to avoid that if possible. Everyone should have access to each virtual machine... but not at the same time...

    Perhaps there is a configuration file (or the customer's option) to limit connections of the console to one (I guess that there is a limit somewhere?).  I found there is a "VpxClient.exe.config", but it doesn't look like this kind of information can be changed here?  If this is something that is encoded in the software I will drop it, but I thought I don't know if I asked

    Thanks for your time to answer this question,

    Dan

    by default, it is set as 25, but that can be changed.  However, it is on a customer by customer basis, so as far as I know, there is no comprehensive way to do this.

    One thing I am not sure about is how can I control what VPN users can connect to? I see nothing in the config that binds inside the interface so that prevents them to connect to the DMZ as well? How to limit connectivity so they can only connect to a host on the inside? or a host on the inside and the other on the DMZ?

    Best regards, Guido

    Port-Wise; you don't know.  That said, RIM could change the IP addresses of hosts that have defined for them DNS records at any time while it is not likely, it could happen.

    Why not try connections from these hosts and review firewall logs to see what networks, you must allow access to?  The recommendation of the RIM is to allow all intellectual property blocks; That's what I'd do however.

  • CF10 Datasource settings

    I'm looking at settings for MS SQL Server data source, and I have a few questions about.

    Connection limit

    I see no reason to use this exception to help minimize the damage of a DOS attack.

    Max pooled statements

    I understand that this must be set on the amount of unique cfquery tags that use the cfqueryparam and cfstoredproc tags tag. It is great an all but why?

    Timeout

    That's how long he keeps each connection to this open data source. Is there a reason to change it, and how determine you the right setting?

    Remote Query Timeout

    It is by default 0 (no timeout), and I don't want a query running forever. I can't think the last time I had a query to run more than one second. Any reason why I wouldn't put in 5 seconds or less?

    Thank you
    Phil

    Limit connections: why?

    The main reason is that connections cost lots of processing overhead (CPU resources). If you have too much of themselves, things will finally slow down to a syrup.

    Max Pooled statements: Why value it equal the number of unique cfquery tags that use the tag cfqueryparam and cfstoredproc tags?

    The aim is efficiency. These query types involve a reuse. The underlying Java engine thus creates and maintains a pool of prepared statements to be reused by this each request. The number of unique queries is a good starting point. It is not necessary to allocate more memory space (for a larger pool) to. In addition, since Java creates grouped statements based on active connections, the connection must be maintained for the re-use of statements of pooling is possible.

    Timeout: Is there a reason to change and how determine you the right setting?

    That's how long ColdFusion keeps an idle connection before you destroy. I would like to leave 20 minutes by default. Which corresponds to the range generally accepted for session timeout in ColdFusion applications, namely, 20 to 30 minutes.

    Remote Query Timeout: A reason to put it in 5 seconds or less?

    Relational database management system is separated from ColdFusion. For reasons beyond control of ColdFusion, a query may run beyond the time that awaits the ColdFusion application. Coldfusion threads that wait on the request would continue to do so indefinitely. If it is essential to your application where a query to run less than 5 seconds, or well abandonment, then you put 'Remote Query Timeout' to 5 seconds. Charlie Arehart has written an informative on that article.
