• PlayMemories Mobile/Smart Remote - no video recording! Why Sony Action Cam it allows?

  Just bought a NEX-6. The Smart Remote application is the reason why I bought the camera in the hope that, with a future update to the app NEX-6 and 5R can not only turn the trigger but also switch VIDEO! Currently, even when the Smart remote control app is running, even if you manually press the video record on the camera button it gives a warning saying "video not available when running this application. Please leave app to record video.

  For some reason sony has decided to leave the video feature switches the NEX-6 and 5R. After closer investigation I noticed that the other camera to use PlayMemories Mobile apps is the Sony Action Cam.

  Cam Action also uses the PlayMemories application in the same way as the smart remote control application, but he is able to turn on/off the camera video. In addition to setting other parameters such as EV and interval shooting.

  Now, I know that the Action is primarily a video camera and it obvioustly need to toggle the video but I don't see why Sony has ruled out this possibility for the NEX-6 and 5R because they all use the same wifi technology and the same APPS! Why do the same application run differently for different cams.

  The only way to turn the video recording remotely at this point is to buy the Sony NEX Remote control version 2 that comes out.

  The reason why I want to toggle the video from the camera app is so that anyone can use tablet or a cell phone as a monitor of affordable directors for when the game etc.

  I subscribed to the youtube channel "Sony listens" and that's what the Sony Rep Said:

  «FlyLifeFilms, the quick answer is that the action cam is designed to be mounted and legs, so it can be used for action packed high where using the buttons on the camera would not easily be used.» The Nex6 is not designed to be used as such. So, it was a marketing and a design decision to include this item on the camera action and not on the Nex6. I forwarded your comments to the appropriate Department with impatience. Thank you

  I hope sony their app updates, or at least let us know why they would allow the Action Sony cam to have this feature when top model NEX cameras turn it off knowing that they both use the same application!

  Please allow at least these features in the application:

  1 start/stop recording a video.

  2. change shooting mode, shutter speed, Aperture, ISO

  Or better yet, like facets of the touch screen of the camera interface and let us control every parameter. I have to pay for this version.

  I come from a Pal region, but I also tried recording NTSC to see if this sorts the question. Tried also record 30 p and 30 720 p. If I understand correctly 1080 60 p means that the video is saved progressive (full frame) at 60 frames per second? Why would suffer a (tooth mouse) comb effect during playback on my pc.

  Could you post the specifications of your computer, especially the graphics card and the monitor you are using. It may have something to do with the overall specifications of the computer that is why he only video interlaced offer rather than progressive.

  I use the 1080/60 p setting with "image stabilizer" and my underwater vids seem sort of blur and no crunchy cases like my Go Pro 3 vids.

  Thanks for sharing your experience with shooting Action cam.

  If moisture was trapped inside the airtight box before or while you insert the Action Cam in it, it can cause condensation inside the housing. The solution can be the anti-fog AKA - AF1 sheet that can be used to reduce the formation of condensation that could find themselves trapped in the case. Anti-fog sheets and price information can be found on the Sony Online store.

  Another suggestion about how to avoid fogging is to insert the unit in the box sealed in a dry place with low humidity and where change little, if any, difference of temperature occurs.

  Fix the adhesive mount for a surfboard wax can be difficult for the grip is perhaps not strong enough. To mount the cam of the Action for a surfboard, we recommend that you attach a floating strap in to the mounting hole of cable on the water-resistant case to prevent the camera to lose while surfing.

  There is no Action Cam with HDR-AS10A model number available in the United States. Only the AS10-HDR and HDR-AS10/B are available. The only difference between the two is that the 'B' in the HDR-AS10/B model number matches the color of the camcorder, which is black.

  Yes, get the GPS with the AZ1 to remote LVR2V wrist. You must also update the firmware in both devices. I have both and they work great.

  You've got to be kidding me! I have long accepted and adopted SONY like YOU leader in video technology and performance. I am totally frustrated that my video camera Sony HD 2010 only WILL NOT download on my new Macbook Pro - and he has NEVER downloaded on one of my Macs.
