Local drive: totally empty D?

Hey!

I have a HP Compaq laptop. I use this laptop for 4 years. I have 4 local drives.
(1) local disk: C
(2) local disk: D
(3) new Volume: E
Presario_RP:F 4)
So, today, I open my computer, and I see that my Local drive: D is empty. He had all my files into it. But now it is empty. When I click it, he asks me if I want to format. I click on Cancel. When I right click on it, the computer does not respond. Then after a while, it does. When I saw his properties, he said that the used space and free space are 0 bytes in size. Since then, my computer is very slow. Sometimes it gets stuck.
So, I want to know how to recover all my files and how to speed up my computer. Help, please. Thanks in advance. Here is my card:

Hello

With machines HP partition D: is normally the recovery Partition to put your computer to the factory settings; do not store your data on.

This link is not for you to work with, but to show you what D: is for.

Now when I turn on iCloud it tells me I have to optimize my photos. I'm afraid of losing my originals from my local drive. Optimization of my library will erase my originals from my local computer? I have to delete my old library in iCloud that has already gone through the pain staking the download process (759GB) in order to reuse my iCloud? I try to avoid to keep my computer another 3 months. Simply cross ICloud cannot check the new library with my iCloud library and move on. How can I start again using my iCloud? Please give me some advice or assistance. Thank you

The value in pictures new external player as the new library system library. Now when I turn on iCloud it tells me I have to optimize my photos.

What is your external drive only has 1 TB of storage?  You have found the warning because the 900 GB in iCloud and the size of your current library on the external hard drive will not fit on the disc. If you have a disc, use a drive twice the size of your library of Photos, so you will not miss storage in the years to come. Any drive that you use with pictures must have Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system.

iCloud library does not know, the pictures are identical. It will download all the photos in the library moved to iCloud and check if they are duplicates. And it only allows you to introduce you, if you use 'Optimize', if the combined size of the photos in iCloud and on your Mac is larger than the available storage.

And Yes, the "optimize" option can cause some originals will be deleted. It is completely dynamic.  You can turn this option off again directly after that you turned the library on the external drive as your iCloud photo library for re-download all original, and before Photos was able to start optimization. Do it only if you are sure, the library will fit.

If you do not all projects in your photo library and did not use the function "Faces" and has invested a lot of work by naming the faces, you could simply start with an empty library on your external drive and let the photos to download icloud to the empty library. It will be faster to download again and the merger of the library moved in your library to iCloud. The only downside, the tags of faces will be missing and your books and other projects. If you need to keep a backup copy of the library has moved.

  • Why does windows partition hard disk of 500 GB so that 60 GB fills the drive c, then d ' drive is empty (295 GB free)?

    Original title: hard drive partition

Why does windows partition hard disk of 500 GB so that 60 GB fills the drive c, then d ' drive is empty (295 GB free)?

It depends entirely on the Installer Windows at your partition layout described no.1 is not standard.

By default on a totally blank disk Windows 7 installation will create two partitions. A system reservedMB 100 partition which will not have any drive letter and is not normally visible on computer. The rest of the disk will be the operating system.

Your drive C is 60GB because someone chose her for this size. It seems that if the computer has been upgraded, 60 GB would have been appropriate for Windows XP.

  • local drives

I recently had my Presario replaced SR5550F HD (old one crashed).  I am running VISTA. I use an external hard drive LaCie FW for all my data, I call my LaCie J; drive.  It has 3 partitions, I:, J: and K: I use I have; for all of my data. J & K: are empty. Since the internal HD replacement, I noticed in the Explorer who, in addition to the local disk C: and local drive J; He has also filed a "network drive" designation (name of the home drive) j (Z.)  It has the same data as my partition I: on the external J: drive.  I do not understand why it shows up as a network drive.  The problem (I guess it can be bound) is that very often, when I boot I do not receive my J: drive and I get a message saying "Coul not reconnect all network drives.  It is obvious immediately, because my wallpaper is located on the external data drive.  I'm not the letter of the system and have no idea how solve this.  The only solution I found is to stop, then restart, in which case it connects.  Of course, this is getting really old.  Suggestions, please?

    Hello djangobill,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are having problems with your computer does not connect a network drive that have not mapped you. Accually according to what you said in your post you have mapped when you set your wallpaper to an image on the usb drive. The system created an internal mapping that image and when he starts the load operating system before your USB hard drive is added and it loses the connection to cause you all this grief. You have two options, as I see it.

You can move the image from the external drive on your local disk and reset it as your wallpaper. As the operating system would break the link with the old image it is more to keep the internal mapping and your problem should be solved.

Your other option is to go into your BIOS and enable Legacy devices, it would load your USB to first image mapped to be accessible when the operating system is going to get him.

I hope I have shed light on the question for you. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • 2-node RAC with 10 local drives each

    Hi all

I have two servers for SUN SOLARIS v10 with 10 discs of 146GBs each (total 20 records); and Oracle 11 g 2.

Is it possible to implement in the RAC environment such as 18 disks can be used for data files with 1 disc on each server used for the installation of database software? I understand this would be a rather primitive design, but I am trying to get my head around BECAUSE for now.

Installation of an instance of the DSO on each server manages 9 discs (no redundancy) will do the trick? FYI, the servers are on the same subnet.

    Any guideline will be appreciated.

    See you soon.

    Hello
You think NFS or something like that? Not supported, it is only for testing purposes! If your goal is high availability with BECAUSE it will cause the node having local drives will be a single point of failure.
You have a nice Setup for Dataguard however.
    Best regards

  • How to do a HTM page on my local drive?

I have HTML static pages on my hard drive that contain my stories I regularly update and publish a story accommodation site via FTP. I have a page of links like this on my desk so I can see my pages locally before I their FTP to the site online. I used to be able to just click on the links to see the pages locally:

       <A HREF="file:///c:/my web sites/my stories/index.htm">

Since last week, Firefox has been blocking my access to these pages and redirects me to Google. I edited this page and changed the links, what worked for a week:

       <A HREF="file:///c:/my%20web%20Sites/my%20stories/index.htm">

  • Satellite L10-104 does not start after the battery totally empty

    Hello

After leaving the laptop the weekend without the charger, the battery was totally empty. So I plugged back it it to charge the battery for a day.

Now, when I press the power button the Green LED at the front lights up for about 3 seconds - nothing else is happening. No HARD disk does appear, no noise from fan coooling, nothing on the screen.

Does anyone have ideas, what I could do to make it work again?

    Thank you

    Christian

    Hello

Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
Wait a little (1 hour) and then reconnect the two parts.
Then try turning on the laptop computer. Maybe it helps

If this will not help, then a hardware problem might be possible
In this case the RAM modules must be verified in the first step.

    See you soon

  • Satellite U400-112: impossible to format the local drive (damaged MFT?)

    Hello!

I had a pretty serious problem with my HARD drive.
    250 GB HARD drive
C: 116 GB - NTFS - Windows XP (Vista initially)
    D: 1, 5 GB - NTFS - (Vista Recover?..)
E: 117 GB - RAW (was NTFS prior to crash)

Local drive E: MFT have been damaged because of the virus attack (I hope not because of my madness!). It's NTFS, now it's RAW. I got all the necessary data partition with program ZAR, but all my attempts to recover or just the format E: remained unsuccessful.
None of the defective sectors found on the HARD drive. Standard Windows tool to format the disks fails: 'it's impossible to finish the formatting of E:

Before this problem with the E: drive, I had several problems with HARD drive. I have never divided re discs, to Partition Magic from the beginning he identified incorrectly. I tried Partition Magic 7 and 8.
    Link: [error screensaver | http://cs1498.vkontakte.ru/u169802/154397/x_3a82b4fb.jpg]

The problem is that the special programs (I tried "find and Mount") also could not identify partitions to correct the defective MFT. I thought that low-level format can help me, but I heard, that the use of all applications for other producers can probably destroy my HARD drive. Are there only special applications of Toshiba developed for such cases? Or you can advice me something else?

    Thanks for your help!

P.S. These applications did not help me:
Find and Mount (can't find the HARD drive)
Acronis Recovery Expert (does not find the HARD drive)
OnTrack EasyRecovery Professional (does not resolve the error, but help to recovery data)
    HDD Regenerator

Thus you get back all your important data?

I would like to just launch Recovery to restore the HARD drive to its factory condition. If the recovery fails, you can try to delete the partitions with FDISK from a startup MS-DOS disk. Free bootdisks can be found at www.bootdisk.com

FDISK can also repair a Master Boot Record by running this command: FDISK/MBR
But it is not 100% reliable, it could cause more harm than good.

  • local drive disappeared after restoring to factory running

Hello! I tried to run the factory on my W510 recovery utility, and after getting a message which, not more than one copy of the recovery set can be created (which is true, I have already created a set earlier), one of my local records 'disappeared '. I still can't see my system disk (C, but I can't see or open my local drive (D.)) Anyone had this problem before? Thank you!

Can assign you a drive letter of in disk management?

    Hi Jasonbichard,

    1. what type of drive is D? Is - this another partition on the same disk?

2 Windows operating system you are using?

You can change the location of the disk to save the data in the d: instead of C: and check if it helps.

    a. navigate to the location (username) C:\Users\.
    b. right click on the folder that you want to change the location, and then select Properties.
    c. click on the location tab and change the location to D: drive.

    d. click on apply and Ok.

If vista is preinstalled ask that the manufacturer of the computer is that they will sell you recovery disks and also ask them if a product key entry is required on your part when installing the same
