login keychain / icloud

I recently upgraded to El Captian and started using iCloud keychain.   I have an older iMac 27 "early 2009.

Three Questions:

When I turned on iCloud Keyring any article that I had in my keychain "login" not to transition on to iCloud.  Why would that any transition.

Types of items that are not transition set Notes and a number of passwords.

Also, I now access to all items in the main chain of "login".  I know the password, which is not the issue.  On rare occasions, I was able to access the items in the main chain of "login".  There seems to be no rhyme or why it will work or not work.

This wouldn't be so bad, but a lot of my key "login" the string where generated passwords by computer.

Finally, where 'Access key chain' repair go to.  He is no longer in one of the menus.  Is this a side effect of using iCloud?

It is not automatically transfer all the elements from the login Keychain password, although the documentation does not make this clear. Secure notes are never transferred.

S.o.s. Keychain was eliminated as part of the security update. It is no longer necessary.

  • deleted login keychain, now stuck on "configure your Mac."

Hi, I have the strangest thing going:

all of a sudden all my apps wanted to use Keychain 'login '. I've had this problem several times on other Machines and fixed it by deleting the keychain of connection in Macintosh HD / Users/[userX]/Library/Keychains/login.keychain. I did it once again. (Moving the file to a folder on the desktop)

Then I rebooted my mac. Both my user accounts appear as expected. When I tried to log in to my user account, he gave me a Notification "OSX wants to access the Keychain 'local products' (or something similar) this time, it was the bunch of local products, which I hadn't touched." I clicked Cancel.

Now the system asked me to provide my password in iCloud. I thought that this is normal, because I just deleted my bunch of connection and will need to re-enter my password to iCloud.

But after that I have provided the password, the computer displays the screen "Setting up your Mac. (The same as you see when you install your mac directly on the box. the first two check marks appeared very quickly at first, but then the computer was stuck and just display the wheel.) And it is yet...)

***? I really hope that my system drive is not removed right now, because my BU time machine is not 100% of the latter. And although I did the whole process relatively fast, I am positive that I have has not confirmed something like "be careful, that if you continue, your system will be restored."

What is happening to me? Has anyone already experienced something like this?

I read in an article in apple support I should wait for the installation to the end, when it seems to be stuck, but it was about 45 minutes now. I will keep you updated on what is happening in the meantime, I'd really appreciate any thoughts on the subject... Thank you

    Greetings,

(I apologize for my grammar, I'm not a native speaker)

Update: Okay, at the end of my day I seem to have beaten the problem, I write my Solution, maybe it helps someone in the future...

    (1) I waited several hours and all, had no hope that my mac would get out of the rut of the screen 'set up your mac. But eventually he did...

    (2) when the machine finally come off, I got the login screen. My second user account was not visible, only my admin... I tried to log in, but I come to the spinning wheel of apple for another hour or two until finally, I lost my patience and restarted strength.

    (3) after pushing the power button I started in safe MODE. I was able to connect. Then I rebooted again normally.

    (4) my machine worked but the problem with the keychain. He told me a hundred times, the login keychain is not found, and I hit "reset default" several times. Then I deleted the Keychain file again. There were two files: 'login.keychain' and ' login.keychain.sb - 6e45f1ef-el41hA. I rebooted.

    (5) when you try to connect this time I received the same message as last time I deleted the keychain file: "OSX wants access to the 'local products' Keychain '. Cancel this time that I was NOT hit, but provided my normal login password. And Voila. I had to enter several passwords, but the Keychain Access does not annoy me more...

    Hope this helps someone...

    Kind regards

  • This file is past store safari in addition to login.keychain?

I've been everywhere on the web for this. I reinstalled Mavericks and cannot find my passwords for all the websites in my TM backup. I tried login.keychain on my keychain username library file, but this file contains only connections to access my router and other devices, almost no Web login password is here and like most people I have tons of Web site passwords. Then I tried connecting to e-mail 2 Web sites and to record passwords, then checked my login.keychain in my current installation file, and they aren't there. I tried to leave safari, reboot, repair of Keychain. I do not use iCloud for the keychain, but I see that safari is verified in iCloud, don't know if it was synchronized in the old facility.

Help to find the alternate location for passwords is appreciated.

    Thank you

When I run Safari, keychain files are there open:

    ~/Library/keychains/login.keychain

    /Library/keychains/system.keychain

    /System/library/keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain

I wouldn't touch the/library /... or bunch of/System /..., because it is likely that Safari would store anything in a global set of the system file, and PERSON DO should touch nothing less/system /...

So that would leave login.keychain as the most likely candidate.

    Hey Roman man,

I understand that you see a prompt for your login keychain. I can't anymore how do I fix this.

Now if you have recently changed your password for your Mac, then the password for your keychain will need to be updated. You can make this change in the Keychain Access application. If you do not know the password, then you need to reset the password in the keychain. Take a look at the article below for specific details get this sorted out.

  • Keychain, iCloud + problems of Photos on MBPro since changed password and password set firmware

    Hello

I recently changed the password for the connection on my main account on my MBPro and added a firmware password, but that doesn't seem to work properly: whenever I reboot Keychain keeps asking me to access the local keychain and all iCloud apps are disabled. I also have problems with pictures. FYI my boot HD is encrypted with FileVault.

I put details on the issues below, as well as what I tried so far (based on the collected suggestions from these forums) as well as some newspapers Console elements that seem strange.

I don't know how to proceed at this point that some options might make things worse if not done does not correctly (or in the right sequence). I'm tempted to disable Firmware password, go back to the old password, or turn off FileVault to see if the problems goes, but I'm afraid it might make things worse (and I would like to have these features runs later). I also have the opportunity to reinstall the OS and return to a previous TimeMachine upward.

I would appreciate anyone's help on this one.

    Thank you very much.

16 GB RAM 256 GB SSD + 2 TB external HD.

    Mac OS X 10.11.16 (15-1004)

FileVault is running on the boot disk (SSD).

    Firmware password has been set.

I have a Time Machine backup (on a second external hard drive).

I installed a functional copy of Mac OS X on an external hard drive 3.

I do not use iCloud keychain.

I have another admin account that works.

    Problems:

    (1) Keychain: whenever I start the CommCenter ask the session keyring password (I must then enter the previous admin password).

I wonder then if I want to update the local keyring: to do this I have to enter my new login password in the "current password" and then I type the same new password fields. Once I reboot the problem reappears: exactly the same sequence, as if the information could not stick. Might have something to do with the FileVault and Firmware password.

    (2) iCloud: after having rebooted and enter my passwords from keychain as described above, none of the iCloud applications work (email, Messages, Contacts, calendars, reminders, Notes, find my Mac, iCloud drive, etc.).

He tells me tells me he is not able to connect to iCloud and asked me to try to do it in the preferences panel. When I tried to connect there, he couldn't connect to iCloud and told to try again later.

    (3) photos: at the launch of Photos he says he cannot open the library system and propose to choose a. When I choose the right pair, it opens fine, but a ton of photos are most referenced correctly. All images come my an external HD (the iPhoto library is also on the same HD), and nothing has changed in the structure of folders.

What I tried (after the Time Machine).

    1. I installed Mac OS was last updated.

2 - I activated the guest account and tried to connect: it only works Safari.

    3. I logged in using another admin account: no problem with Keychain and all iCloud apps work. Not tried Photo since this account is not a library and is not configured for access to the main account.

    4. I tried to boot into safe mode: is not work (might have something to do with the password FileVault and Firmware).

5-return to the main account I ran disk help and fixed permissions: discs seem to be ok.

    6. in the key string App I locked and unlocked keychain using the lock in the upper left corner of the application. When asked for my password I just typed my user password. When I rebooted I had the same problems.

    7. I've tried updated the password in the keychain app by entering the old password and then my new password for connection in the other two fields (new password and confirm). Still problems with iCloud and after restart I have the same problems of Keychain.

8 - I tried resetting my default keychain: I got an error, because I don't have the permission to do so.

9 - I tried to create a new keychain session and making it the default keychain, but I keep getting the same problems (iCloud does work does not + issues of password even after I reload).

10 - iCloud: I tried to close the session from iCloud, then enter my iCloud ID and password, but it says no more: it cannot connect or that the Mac is already connected to this account. I closed the session again, iCloud used Safari to manage my AppleID (https://appleid.apple.com/), listed devices associated with and my MacBook off the list: I always have the same questions even after reboot. I even tried to delete the iCloud account since the Internet Accounts preferences panel, but it is not listed. I tried to add it, but he said that the Mac is already connected.

    11. in Terminal, I glued the special order in some discussions (find ~ $TMPDIR..------(-+ flags sappnd, uappnd, schg, uchg o! - user $UID o! - perm - 600-) 2 > & -| wc-l | pbcopy) and got 21 to 22, and a result the first time earlier.

12 - looking at logs just console after reboot, I see a couple of things that seem odd that appear multiple times with slight variations (I paste only an example):

    Hello macbookusir,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

From your post, I understand that you do not see your iCloud keychain items more. For more information on why your information may be missing, please read the information in the following article.

If you no longer have your iCloud keychain items

If you disabled iCloud Keychain on all your devices, your iCloud Keychain is removed from the Cloud. If you have chosen to remove the keychain of your devices when you have disabled iCloud Keychain, your iCloud Keychain is also removed from these devices.

You will need to install iCloud keychain and add items again. Apple cannot recover your iCloud Keychain if you turn off iCloud Keychain on all your devices and choose to remove your iCloud Keychain locally on all your devices.

On OS X, if you used Keychain Access to reset your OS X Keychain, OS X will delete your iCloud keychain items. Choose Keychain Access > S.o.s. keychain to verify and repair keychain settings and permissions. If this does not help, reconfigure iCloud keychain. If you need to reset your OS X Keychain again, temporarily disable iCloud Keychain in iCloud preferences before resetting your OS X Keychain.

Just started having this pop up.  What should I do?

Go to Applications-> utilities-> Keychain Access.  Look in the upper left corner - is locked or unlocked padlock?  If it is locked, click it to open it.  You will need to enter your administrator password.  Once that is done, quit Keychain Access.  This happened to me once because I clicked the lock to lock, and I kept getting this popup as well.
