• Accident scenario: lose the current redolog

  Hi all
  
  I experience scenarios different crash. Let's say I have a database with no archivelog and only one group of redologs. When I crash the redolog CURRENT, the crash of the database as expected.
  The doc, I see the only solution is to restore an old backup, and then do an OPEN RESETLOGS. Therefore, I do not understand why.
  
  As far as I KNOW (but I could be wrong), as a redolog is INACTIVE, it means that the changes have been written in the data files. So, why is it impossible to recover the database up to the crash, losing only the amendments contained in the redolog former CURRENT?
  I mean, a database to recover up to cancel must be able to recover data up to the crash less the last redolog, shouldn't it?

  (a) if the ACTIVE redo log has not been archived yet, you have to ALTER DATABASE CLEAR no ARCHIVED LOGFILE GROUP n [and take a fresh database backup because you archivelogs are incomplete]
  (b) if the ACTIVE redo log has been archived, you must ALTER DATABASE CLAIRE LOGFILE GROUP n

• Shopping for EQL #2 in addition to the current PS6100XV

  Hello

  Right now I am in the final stage of shopping for an additional EqualLogic add additional space to our current (and only one) PS6100XV (24 x 600 GB 3.5 "15 k raid-10 disc). Altought, we could add a type unit E, I decided to add another unit SAS written first, as we do very little (50/50 averaged about 2300 IOPS / s total), the third unit will be a SATA if performance wise allowed.

  The new unit is going to be a PS6210X (24 x 600 GB 2.5 "10 k disks) that is provided with 2 x 10 Gbit port dual controllers were our current unit has 2 x 1 Gbit quad port controllers (Greens). As I said there is no problem to run the 10 GB on 1 GB modules and put the in a group (network of dedicated btw).

  After making sure that our current unit has recent firmware which is > = the new firmware units, it should be simple enough or are there warnings, I might be missing here?

  Are you planning on moving to 10GbE in the future?  Yes, specifically the series 6210 controller can operate at GbE.  It is the only painting of 10GbE EQL can also.   The 6210 will only work EQL FW v7.0 or more.  If the existing Member will have to be upgraded to the current version of 7.0.x.

  If you are not planning on moving to 10GbE, you might want to consider getting another system of 6100...  Only downside to race to GbE 6210 is there are only two ports in total vs the 6100 with four Gigabit Ethernet ports.

  Given that you are currently using dedicated port mgmt, the new unit will also need configured this way.

  What type of switches are you using?   Make sure that the connection between the switches is sufficient to support the additional load of I/O.   So if they are not stacked switches, you may need to increase the trunk ports.  This is a common problem, one sees, adds another Member and performance falls down due to lack of Inter-Switch connectivity.

  This seems a problem of creation of block as indicated by Ringo.

  I would use DATACOPY to copy the data from the current year-> dec to the future-> jan/begbalance. And then I copy data from jan/begbalance for the remaining months of the coming year.

  Something as follows (assuming the dimension that contains the members Retained_Earnings_Total as spare and as dense period);

  DATACOPY & CurrYr-> 'Dec'-> 'Retained_Earnings_Total' to & FutureYr-> "Jan"-> "1000_Retained_Earnings";

  And then copy data from January of the coming year in the last months of the coming year.

  DIFFICULTY (Feb:Dec and any combination of the years to come)
  "Local" = "Local"-> "Jan";
  & RateCurrFcst = & RateCurrFcst-> Jan;
  ENDFIX

  That you'd be using DATACOPY, block would be created when it is required for fastest way.

  I have a requirement where I need to calculate the value of '' suffering '' and need to save it somewhere so that I can use it to display on the dataforms.
  
  The logic of the last value Due must be--
  
  Suffering = year previous year Total + current (Jan: Prior month)
  
  I was planning to write a formula for this member. Can I use substitution variables, as title, etc. PriorMonth in the form of Member to achieve this?
  
  In addition, since we do not use BegBalance Member for purposes like the display on the dataform etc. can I use for this requirement where I can write the formula of the BegBalance member and give it an alias name 'Suffering' I can use to show on the dataforms. Is this possible?

  We had details in a Dimension of 4 Custom in our new application of IFRS. We call this type of data. Basically we use for detailing the different types of adjustments for IFRS. The problem is the total P & L are copied into the retained earnings for the 4 total of Custom Dimension but not for the descendants of 4 personalized with the exception of [none] members.
  
  This is the rule:
  
  "Goal: complete the current year one year Net income in retained earnings"
  KSM erase 'a #L3310 '.
  "KSM Exp ' an L3310 #" & NUNS & "= W #YTD. A LA8999 # "& TOPS"
  
  What would be the best practice?
  
  Amendment to the rule on the right side and specified Custom 4 descendants? In this way the Net income will be copied to all members of dimension 4 Custom

  According to what I saw during the copy of profit form P & L retained we copy only the best members. If bifercation is necessary, then break us into the P & L not profits not distributed.

  I would also advice allows you to copy the top member PKI (place it to the right) ICP None(place it on the left) so what are not disadvantaged as the accounts of PKI, if not retained earnings could not show correct result. This happens for autonomous entities. Since P & L has no intersection of PKI. That the data will not get copied into retained earnings.
