  • Lost installation disc for Windows 7 Professional X 15-37362

    Hello

I bought an OEM of Windows MicroCenter version when I built my computer in 2013.  Since then, I've lost the installation CD.  I have the product key, and when I try to download a copy of the operating system using this link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery it says to contact the computer manufacturer.  I contacted MicroCenter and they told me that they do not have an installation disc replacement.  "No, the store is only allowed to sell records of windows with codes for them.

So what am I supposed to do?  I need to reinstall windows, but I don't think that I should spend another $100 + on a copy of the disk with the additional product key when I already have a licensed copy valid and am put it back on the same exact hardware.

    Thank you

Sites like those who sell the disc should not do that.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

I have a product key for windows vista home edition premium, but have lost my cd to install somehow. is there anywhere you can find an iso image?

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Lost XP installation disc, but have the product key

I uninstalled Windows XP Home Edition on my Compaq Presario SR1320NX and put Linux out there. Now I regret it and plan to reinstall XP. The problem is that I lost my installation disc. Can I still get one with my XP license key? And what other info I will have to provide (if I can see if I still have it / pick.) If my computer needs to be under warranty, how will I know if it is or not?

Here are the specifications of your Compaq Presario SR1320NX desktop computer. It was introduced in December 2004 and is about 7.5 years old. HP ensures that most of their products to use for a period of one year. Therefore, your computer no longer under warranty.

The computer came with the installation of any kind discs. This computer required (as most modern computers) do you re recovery discs - install the original HP image. • HP Photosmart C4580: disc lost installation for HP Photosmart C4580

    Hello

My apologies if I am asking about a problem solved a million times before, but I'm a newbie here and have tried and tried to google the answer...

I got my C4580 for several years and has struggled to implement the wireless have been use it via the USB port.  But now, I need to move my printer and would like to use wireless.  But I lost the installation disc.  Because I use a Mac I can not find via download installation disk because Apple is apparently SO smart it does everything what in the background.

I can't have parameters to configure my wireless network, and it makes me a little crazy.  When I go the HP on the Mac utility, it says "this printer is already implemented".

Someone knows how to change the wireless set up on a Mac?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Below, I've posted a link to a document that provides information on how to configure the printer for a wireless network. When you open the link, scroll down to the section called 'OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion and OS X v10.9 Mavericks' (should work for OS x 10.11).

  • I have lost my Windows XP Professionsla installation disc that came with computer and I see the message asking me to insert disk 3 to reinstall the files. What should I do?

I lost the Windows Professional disc that came with the computer. I get a pop up requires me to insert the disc 3 of which I don't have the installation disc. Even if I try to do a system restore I need the disk. I can't lose information that is on the computer and do not have an external drive. What should I do?

There is no disc 3 of Windows XP Professional.  Windows XP (other Media Center if I remember well) was a CD.

Please copy the message down verbatim - including the title bar - and who post here.

You can move this pop-up window on the side and also do all the following - in the order given anything of it periodically, you're already doing...

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

I lost my laptop computer restore disc and it is no longer supported by the manufacturer. Can I use the installation disc for my desktop with my laptop serial number?

My title says it all. I have an old HP laptop that they do not send to restore the disc more (I don't know yet I had one; his old laptop from my brother) and I have an installation disc for my new PC. I have a Windows XP Home edition SP2 installation disc. However, as the hard drive of my laptop broke down, I don't know what version of windows it was. I think it should have been an OEM version and the sticker says it was Windows XP Home Edition.

Now, anyway I tried to install my installation on laptop computer disc, offering series of laptop computer but now it asks me to activate. Will it work if I activate it?

    Thank you

Unless you are lucky enough to know someone who has a generic OEM drive, which you can borrow, I don't see a practical solution for you.  I advise you to spend the money to buy one, even if you could find one to buy from a reliable source (not eBay!).  Although a generic OEM disc should work with your product key, there is no guarantee that it will work with your product key.

If your laptop can be retrieved through a restore partition, and you can't borrow a disc that will work with your product key, then you have pretty much exhausted all reasonable or practical options.

I finally did! I borrowed a copy of a generic OEM drive, through activation and it is!

Thank you much for the help...

Now I've done could you help me more? Say now, I returned the drive OEM back (don't want to make an illegal copy) and want to be able to use my current system installed to generate a system disk that will allow me to avoid all the problems I've had up to now. What would you recommend? I've read a few articles on other forums (I did some research!) but is a little confusing. I hope you could help.
