  • UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME during the upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista

I'm getting an unmountable_boot_volume during the upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista.  It occurs after Windows 7 software loads and restarts.  If I restart the computer, I have the option to start the upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows Vista.  If I select Windows Vista, the computer restarts without problem.  If I choose Windows 7 Upgrade, I get the blue screen of death with the unmountable_boot_volume error.  Of course, nothing wrong with the boot volume because Windows Vista starts without error.  The boot drive is 1.5 TB.  Any suggestions on how to accomplish the upgrade to Windows 7?

Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows. • Very low volume for mp3 youtube or windows media player.

I have windows vista I have the volume turn completely. But it is very low that if I use the speakers that are built into the computer the volume is fine. But if I plug a speaker on the back of the computer volume is very low.

    Hi Robert,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community and forums thanks for posting the question.

I see that the volume is very low during playback of Youtube or Windows Media Player. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

2 is this problem limited to Youtube video and Windows Media Player?
    3. do you have the codecs installed on the computer?

    4. are you aware of changes to the computer before the show?

Because the built-in speakers work correctly, the external speakers may be corrupted.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to connect the speakers to another computer and check if the speakers are working properly or not.

    Method 2:

Run the Fixit described in the article:

    Method 3:

Although most speakers have a volume control, you can control the overall level of sound using Windows.

  • How can I reinstall the speaker icon appearing in the lower right of my screen next to the clock in time? I have Windows Vista Home

I had a power outage and when the power came back, the icon of the voice in the lower right corner (taskbar?) was absent. My computer (Toshiba Satellite P205-S6267) regulator dial is broken, so I can't adjust the volume without the sound icon. I have a sound icon on the left side of the taskbar, but it does not regulate the volume.

All other icons that were previously in the taskbar reappeared once the power has been restored. I have sound, but I can't adjust the volume.

  • Microsoft Windows Vista: Rebuild the system volume information folder

    Greetings to everyone.

    (1) the Crypto ransomware locker has done the thing is on a friends laptop last week. This is a laptop HP DV900 Microsoft Windows Vista. Unfortunately, we have re-installed Vista, from the recovery partition, before attempting to restore the system, using the system restore. It is my understanding that the system volume information folder, contains files, such as excel and word files, which can be restored, but they are stored by Vista, in a special encrypted way.

If I could get it back or if I got the complete information system volume, would be possible to replace the current and to restore the system to a time before the ransomware hit?

    (2) in fact, I've used a file recovery program and was able to recover a huge file with the name:

    {11d89a13-09a9-11e4-9917-cb6a370b41f2} {3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}

This file is approximately 1.99 GB, and is dated on 17/07/2014. I suspect that the virus deployed on 18/07/2014 as the most important Excel and word files have the date of last modification of 18/07/2014. And those files that have changed on the 18/07/2014 cannot be open - unless I have change the extensions of excel to .csv file, in which case excel files open, but the info is still obviously encrypted.  OK, so I have the part of the system volume information folder content, which seem to be of the part that contains the files there, as this is a fairly large file.

My question is this: is a reconstruction of the folder system volume information, based on this possible of the file? In other words, using this file I have cancelled/recovered, can we restore Vista from this file?

    Thank you for your time.

You cannot use the system restore to recover files from the user.  Restore points would be zero because of the new facility.  Update of installation dates would be irrelevant as well as software installations.  The new installation files will take precedence.

  • I am running Windows Vista and a low disk space error message.

I am running Windows Vista and a low disk space error message.  I ran disk cleanup, disk defragmentation and cleaned up all the old files and still only have 793 MB free on GB total 103.  I noticed that my 6.0.6002.18005_001c11ba_blobs.bin file takes 54.9 GB of space.  In research, it seems that it is safe to delete this file--is that true?  If so, how? It seems that I need permission to do this.

To give the control is a two-step process. Take ownership and then to give permissions.

Owner of a file allows the owner to change permissions even if they do not have the authorization to do so. It's the only thing that made property. The person who creates an object owns the object. For admins, the objects that are created are the property of administrators, not the individual.

You need start exploring as administrator to Start - All Programs - Accessories - made Windows Explorer right click and choose run as administrator.

You must therefore make a right-click folders / drive, you are interested in tick - button Properties - Security - Advanced button - property - Edit - Replace owner on Sub containers and objects tab - select one user-then Ok your way of out.

Right-click new - folder Properties - Security - Advanced - tab permissions - Edit button - select the account - check the two checkboxes - button - Advanced - Search now button Add button - select your tick - Ok button - total control in the list. OK your way out.

  • Windows Vista Volume control - several users connected

Vista Home Premium. Several users. IE8 on a site playing music.
fast user switching. The music heard in the new session of the user. Mixer volume control unable to see the other application users to turn off the music.
How can I make Blender see other sound control applications users

    Hello gmayes,

In addition to what Anthony has provided above the quick change of user in Windows Vista is designed to run programs that are specific to each user profile. This means that when you play the music in a single profile and use the fast user switching will continue to play music and the secondary profile will not have access to control the Web pages or the volume of the music played on the primary profile.

Using programs of another quick switch mode user profile is not something that is supported by Vista right now.

  • Windows Vista on low performance laptops

Windows Vista can most likely run on a machine like that, but here I will report soon enough for consumers Equium L-20 if they can run Windows Vista on these machines.

I will soon get their hands on Beta 2 of 17.6.06 weekend, so keep an eye on this page to see all the problems that may fall in front of you because I'm going to help you with any of your requests and problems that will meet these machines.

    Hello

The big topic and I hope that we will be able to get answers about the prolems with VISTA running on Toshiba laptops?

I have the Toshiba L10 Equium laptop and I installed VISTA a couple of days and installation takes about 40 minutes, which is very good, considering that the L10 is only a Celeron 1.5 GHz (M). He's not a ' all little bit slower "than in Windows XP, but I'll still give it a few days to play with it.

The only one I installed since the utility CD W/LAN driver and I indicated that VISTA to the. INF (using XP SP2 compatibility mode) file in the folder, this utility on the CD and after reboot XP, W/LAN card has been detected and the driver installed. I can now access the internet wireless.

I also have an "unknown device" in Device Manager and that seems to be related to ACPI and when you check the properties and are perhaps "Microsoft Smart Battery subsystem" and I do not know which utility on the CD could address this. If anyone has seen it work on their L10 and knows what it is and what driver it has need, I'd appreciate some info please.

The "unknown device" in Vista has its location as-controller embedded compatible ACPI 'Microsoft' and 'value' is presented as
ACPI\ACPI0001 and * ACPI0001 and by chance, this is be the same 'value' for "Micrsoft SMART Battery subsystem" on the L10 when Windows XP is installed on it.

Apart from that, I have only one small problem, and I miss the 'battery power remaining' icon the system tray specifications and I can't find it in VISTA.

You can go into Power Options in VISTA, but I do not see the options "energy saving" laptop that you get with WinXP or the option to have an icon in the systray.

Anyone know if these portable options are in VISTA and if so, where?

  • Satellite A100 - low Windows Vista performance index

    Hey there,

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A100 just for more than a year now with Vista Home Premium. I recently formatted the laptop and installed Vista Business. When I got Home Premium, my 'Windows experience index' (found in Control Panel > system) has been a 3.0 for the graphics. Under Business, is however now that 1.0. I guess that it has not detected the graphics hardware on my laptop.

    How do it detects hardware?

    > I guess that it has not detected the graphics hardware on my laptop.

I put t know what do you say that it has not detected the graphic material, but you should definitely check out if the graphic and other driver drivers Toshiba have been installed on your laptop properly.

In addition, the Windows Vista experience index can change and can go down if more programs are installed on the system.
I noticed that my Windows Vista performance index decreases every time if a 3rd party application has been installed and then removed from the system.

In my opinion, Windows Vista index experience might be less because you have installed a newer version of the Vista operating system which contains functions of Vista more and so would need of more resources.

    Best regards
