M7060N

Hi, yesterday I got my HP M7060N to replace the hard drive, but I think that the technician gave me the bad back hard drive?

The hard drive I have in my hands, says:

Barracuda 200 GB 7200,1
Seagate

Model: ST3200822AS

HP CPC: 5187-8378

I try to look for hard drive HP M7060N plug in the computer, but I need to know if this drive is the hard disk original provided with my computer when I bought in 2004.

This should be one. I looked at the detailed specifications for your model and it says that the original hard drive was a 200 GB 7200 RPM Seagate. I couldn't find anything about this to be listed the number of exact model of the hard drive, but the specifications are correct, up to the mark. What makes you think that they gave you a bad back?

    Hello:

You should have no problem running W7 x 64 on this PC PROVIDED , you run a processor 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 630, 640 3.2 GHz or 650 P4 3.4 GHz processor, and you buy an add on card video PCI windows 7. You have no AGP or PCIe slots on your motherboard.  Your integrated graphics (probably Intel GMA 900) is not capable of Windows 7.

I highly doubt that your PC has one of these processors. It is probably with Intel Pentium 4 500 processors with 1 MB L2 cache.  Those who are capable of not 64-bit.

Here are the specs of your motherboard:

I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with the same chipset and I got a processor P4 650 opportunity on eBay for $30.00 and now I am running Windows Vista x 64 on it, and it works fine. Fortunately, the Board of Directors on the 4700 has a PCIe slot, so it was easy for me to get a graphics for Windows Vista/7 cheap for her card (Asus Nvidia 8400GS 512 MB). You can get PCI video cards but they are in the order of $50, and they offer much in the way of performance.

I also upgraded the processor on a computer of HPQ dc7100 CMT P4 640 Business Office, so it can also run a 64 bit OS. I tested it with W7 x 64 and got everything to work, but my son wanted to keep XP Pro 32 bit on it, so I revenue it back. I also had to add the ASUS 8400 GS video card so he could run the W7 Aero.

Looking for 64-bit drivers presented no major problems.

  • Media Center M7060n PC does not start

I restarted the pc this AM when it was slow. No change recently, the last was an update of Microsoft a few days ago, but the pc seemed to work OK. All virus day and firewall.

PC hangs on the "Windows XP" logo. It will restart in safe mode of Windows (with networking) fine. I tried to reset the points, but all dates so far I take will come back after the restart with "restoration incomplete". I tried dates from yesterday, last week and last month.

I tired F8 during the restart... is to last known good startup... no luck.

I defragmented just (but it is done automatically once a month) and windows "check disk for errors" tool, which is still ongoing after 3 hours. The display is a series of file locations "multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \windows\system32\drivers\" and then a lot of files ".sys".

The hard drive light is still active, but the screen has yet to change.

    Thank you!

You may need to try a new hard drive. You can also try a resumption of the standard. You won't lose your data.

    Supported processors:

    I have a 2005 HP m7060n Media Center http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00306958 & lang = to & cc = us & taskI... running on XP
I was looking to upgrade to Windows 7 and also install a new drive.  New readers are shipped with windows 7 already preinstalled and when I change the disks, it will start windows 7.
How could I then exchange the old files to the new drive?
What is your solution the best and less expensive?  How do you do this?  Help, please.
    Thank you
    Marco

I suggest that perform you a clone of the hard drive. Seagate drives and WD offer a free version of the wizard disk.

Clone the original 200 GB drive to the new drive.  To avoid problems, has chosen a 1.5 or 1 t T drive. Once you have the clone, just install the upgrade on the new drive. All your data will remain intact, and the intact original of 200 GB drive is secure.

PS > you need a spare sata power and data leads to the clone. Look inside and see what led power is hanging loose. Then I can suggest an adapter or cable. As the DVD is IDE, (not Sata) from what I've read, you will need a Sata data cable also.

  • No sound after installing Windows 7

I have a m7060n of four years, HP Media Center with 3 GB of memory.  The only sound work on my system is the headset before green.  I have a Logitech 5.1 speaker system that worked well until the installation.  There are two yellow triangles related video and audio in the list of equipment:

Conexant 23880 Video Capture (input to two Blackbird NTSC)

Conexant 2388 x MPEG Encoder (double entry)

The High Definition Audio Controller and high definition Audio Device both seem to work fine.

I installed all the drivers that I can find that might help.

Logitech said that my speaker model is compatible with Win 7.

HP does not even list Windows 7 as an OS when I look... only XP and Vista updates.  Updates for Vista have nothing to do with the sound.

Windows Update has given me several new drivers, including those for two devices of Conexant.

So far, nothing has worked.  I use a workaround solution by plugging the green plug from the speakers to the front Jack, but gives me only 2.0 sound not 5.1.

Someone at - it any other suggestions?

    Thank you

    Christie

    Hi Christieamber,

Try to install the driver provided by Realtek (the original creators of your audio device): http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

Just select the link High Definition Audio Codecs, accept the agreement and then select the version of Win 7 in the resulting page.

Let us know how it goes.
