  • How do we install siri on a mac mini with macOS Sierra?

I have a 2011 mac mini with macOS Sierra installed environment. I know that the mini doesn't have a microphone installed. How do I set up my mini so I use siri? I noticed that when I installed Sierra on my MBP mid-2012, it asked if I wanted to install siri as part of the installation. I selected Yes. It happened when I installed it on my mini, I'm guessing that because there is no microphone on the mini. Thanks in advance.

You are right. You are prompted to configure Siri during installation only if the computer has a microphone.

Later, after you add a microphone go to System Preferences > Siri and turn on Siri

  • I have an old Mac Mini with a DVI Port that came with a VGA DVI-adapter.  Tonight, my monitor went down.  Brand new monitor works with that?  Can I use an adapter?  If yes should which adapter I?

I have an old Mac Mini with a DVI Port that came with a VGA DVI-adapter.  Tonight, my monitor went down.  Brand new monitor works with that? Any recommendations? Can I use an adapter?  If yes should which adapter I?

You can use any DVI monitor DVI port directly or have any VGA monitor with the power that you adapter. A HDMI monitor might work with an adapter DVI to HDMI in a pinch, but HDMI tends to be more fickle.

  • I need to transfer my OS to iMac with firewire for Mac mini with love at first sight. Don't know what to do.

Hello I have a 2010 iMac Core i3 3.2 GHz, 8 GB of memory, and El Capitan mid with a firewire 800 port that goes wrong. I just bought a Mac mini refurbished end of 2014 Apple, Core i5, clocked at 2.6 GHz with 8 GB of memory with thunderbolt 2 ports (but unspecified OS, I guess Yosemite 10.10 if Apple put the original on the renovated units OS) I want to use migration assistant to transfer all of the iMac with firewire for the Mac mini with the crush.  Can I use thunderbolt Apple firewire adapter for it? If this is not the case, what can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

  • Mac Mini with os x Lion, said El Capitan partition Boot Camp Windows 7 has lost

I have a Mid 2011 Mac Mini with os x Lion as my main OS.  I had installed Windows 7 to be started using Boot Camp.  Everything worked perfectly until I added El Capitan under a new partition.   Now, as soon as the boot, there is no option of Boot Camp; There are only Lion and El Capitan options to begin.  However, BOOTCAMP and Win7 files/folders appear in the Finder.

After reading similar cases here in the support forums, it seems that this may be repairable.  (fingers crossed)  Oh, and FYI, I'm a total beginner when using in the Terminal environment.

Yes, it is better to update the old Mac EC.

Make sure that you back up the old Mac before the upgrade.

Note the application of some may require updated to work with CBS. To check see it:

    https://roaringapps.com/apps

Also, some devices may require updated drivers and for some devices such drivers do not exist.

  • How to control a Mac mini with HDMI ports fries and lightning? (The rest is ok)

Recently, a lightning strike fried video output (HDMI and lightning) ports on my Mac Mini end of 2012. As far as I know, the rest of the machine works fine. It's just blind. I can't have everyone working on this, but I don't want to throw a perfectly (well, almost perfectly) computer works.

If I can get a control over the Mac Mini for a few days, I could set up as a dedicated time Machine or maybe even an iTunes or media Server. How can I achieve this?

Configure the screen sharing on the Mac.

To do this, you must have another recent Mac.

You can start the problem Mac in target disk mode, connect the two Mac by FireWire or Thunderbolt, boot the Mac problem with button down T, boot the first Mac since the Mac HD problem and sharing Setup screen

    http://www.TechRadar.com/us/news/computing/Apple/how-to-use-screen-sharing-in-Ma c-os-x-1296285

Alternatively, you can take the drive out of the Mac problem and start another Mac that and configure sharing screen.

You can also get a USB video card and put in place by the target disk mode or by removing the similar disk for screen sharing

  • A Mac Mini with these specs to run the latest version of Garage Band?

Hi, I am planning to buy a Mac Mini opportunity. He's probably an outdated version of Garage Band, so I was wondering if she could handle the latest version with these specs:

    Processor: 1, Intel core 2 duo 88GHz

    Memory: 1 Gb 667 Mhz ddr2 sdram

No it can't do in its current state.

the latest version of Go need 10.11 and you don't have enough RAM to run the latest 3 versions of Mac OS X (10.11 only is available if you don't already have the other btw)

  • Do I need a Mac Mini with high-specs to efficiently program an Iphone app?

    Hello world!

I currently have a PC and am on a budget.

What I want to do however, is program/create an iphone app and came to the conclusion that the hanging of a mac mini to my pc is the most cost-effective way to do.

However, I'm not sure what level of specification is necessary for programming the OS. I've never programmed before, so have a very limited knowledge.

Could I get smooth with a more/less expensive model on 2 GB of ram? Or I will require probably one with superior specs?

The app is a bit complex.

Thanks a lot if you take the time to answer

    Sincerely,

    Tommy

I use a Mac mini (end 2012) with the latest version of El Capitan and feel no bottlenecks.

My advice would be to buy as much built-in RAM as you can afford (16 GB + if possible), rather than worry about the speed of the processor.

  • Cloning of a Mac mini with application Server

We bought a condo in Florida and I want to my server it doubles. I use Mac mini (2 different models) with 2 drives external (one for Time Machine backups) and one for data.

What is the best way to install the Apple Server on Florida related to the Mac mini so I don't have to install it from scratch?

Yesterday I tried (in vain) to use the Migration Wizard to move all of my Mac mini to the Florida-bound one. Can I use 3rd party app "Carbon Copy Cloner" instead?

Any recommendations on how to configure the 2nd server would be appreciated.

The replication server is a relatively trivial process and can be accomplished by using disk utility.  However, the source drive and the destination drive should not be active at the time of cloning.  For example, you have Master Mini and you want to be replicated on Mini replica.  The best way to do it with the included tools must start Master Mini from another disk that contains an operating system to start.  Then start the Mini replica in target disk mode and connect it to the Mini Master (already started from another drive).  Disk utility to clone the Master disk on the drive of replica.

Ah, but cloning is the easy part.  The question I have for you is that you really want an exact replica?  The reason why I ask, is that your current server should have a name and a fully qualified domain name.  It's server.pauljohnson.com and it has a 10.0.0.10 IP address.  If you clone the device to another Mac, there will also be a name of server.pauljohnson.com and it has a 10.0.0.10 IP.  If two of your networks are configured on the 10.0.0.0/24 subnet then you won't be able to connect to each other.  Similarly, if you depend on external access to devices and must comply with DNS, then you can only point to one of the servers, unless you have a form of installation program to distribute the load between the two locations of load balancing.

What services run you on the servers other than the Server Time Machine?  Do you intend to have a VPN tunnel between the two institutions?  If you use Open Directory, and DNS, you can configure master and replicas of the two services.  Of course, this should only be done with a tunnel VPN in place I would not recommend exposing these services to the internet.

Then await you replicate data also?

Start with a list of services and a list of expectations about how you want client machines work when moving from one place to another.

  • What Mac Mini for use with Adobe CC?

    Hello

I thought about getting a Mac Mini to use with a Wacom Cintiq Display(either 22HD or 27QHD) and I was wondering what would be best for the execution of the Adobe programs.

It seems that most of the people prefer the 2012 Mac mini with the quad core as opposed to the current gen using two hearts.

This brings me to two questions:

I see a huge difference between the quad core and dual core in the adobe programs?

8 GB RAM is enough or should I opt for 16 GB?

Otherwise, the mac mini may be a poor choice for what I would do, so any feedback is appreciated!

    Thank you!

What Adobe suggest to their CC minimum specifications in OS X, it

should not be necessary to buy a quad-core (they say that it would use all the cores).

A set of Photoshop CC system requirements suggest higher specs than one

Another help page for Adobe. This page shows the highest specifications, but can

not reflect the version that you are considering:

•Photoshop CC 2015.x system requirements and languages

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop/system-requirements.html

If for some reason you happen across a 2012 end i7 2.3 or 2.6 GHz quad with

two 1 TB hard drives, they would be more easily upgraded to run an SSD and

keep a rotating disc; or install two SSDs. between that and 16 GB of RAM, these

should do a quick little computer. Rotational hard drives are the bottleneck.

But probably not necessary for Adobe photoshop CC. The graphics processor

is a limitation if you use intense graphic applications. GPU shares

standard memory with the system; From memory, there is little or no dedicated graphics.

    Although I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini i7 2.3 GHz quad-core (server) with double 1 TB

5400 RPM hard drive and RAM upgraded to 16 GB total rotation. It can

Use at least one drive upgraded to 7200 rpm or SSD drive more efficient.

The Mac Mini which is online store (check to see if there is an official refurb)

in the middle to upper technical version may be OK. The top level because of the upgrade

options in the configuration page (select to buy it, then see what options exist)

might be OK. The lower spec Mini doesn't seem to be viable for serious users.

New versions available now, because, you choose the configuration when

you order the computer: you buy an upgrade level you think you might need.

Memory is affixed, then exercise your ESP skills to look ahead, before buying.

The new Mac Mini 'top model' has better graphics than model end 2012.

An advantage for the Mini is you can choose monitors, peripherals, etc. An old

new stock Mini would have some OS X who was active as a base level.

Since none of these units have a system backup media. Is online recovery there.

My Mini comes with the Mavericks 10.9; 10.9.5 functioning properly. Partitioned,

the discs could dualboot mulitple systems and their applications more recent specifications.

(You can pay like nine awards for the end of 2012 Mini i7 quad, used clean-shaped).

I had considered to be a non - retina MacBook Pro 13 inch 2.5 GHz for once.

It was the time when they were more common in the 'special offers' Apple

refurb store page online at decent price; then buy RAM upgrade later.

In any case, this has become a long rant a few detours or details were

omitted for the sake of clear path back to the main topic. Since I was late

2012, mac Mini and it's more of the half upgraded for most all that he can do

I would probably say try a. If you can find a new one at a fair cost.

If the cost is too high, you can get a new Mac Mini to higher specification

the Apple Store. They are dual-core. Adobe applications do not seem to need

the advantage of the use of quad-core processors or. (these run virtual cores, too;)

so if you have the appropriate application, the quad core turn eight - virtual.)

The option AppleCare extended warranty covers to buy new equipment.

It would have supplied with El Capitan, if the current new stock. This fall, there may be macOS

Sierra - if you happen to get that stock again - at the end of the year. Not sure

If or when the hardware upgrade version configurations may appear.

Anyway, it's more a kind of letter. Sorry about that...!

  • CP1025nw with the new Mac Mini 10.8.4

    Hello world

I bought a cp1025nw and a new mac mini with 10.8.4 a few weeks ago, I have problems with the implementation of wireless printing:

    1. as the mac mini is a novelty, it doesn't have the previous version of the printer driver installed, thats why the mac is not able to detect the update to the app store automatically;

    2. the installation disc comes with the printer only is not supported with 10.8.4.

    3. I tried to set up the printer using my old macbook air with 10.5.8, the most up-to-date printer driver is downloaded from the app store and successful installed in my macbook air, however, the printer could not find my network wifi during installation, it shows that:

' - Wireless Network Name: ""(Nothing in parentheses).

    and

    -Mode communication: infrastructure

    4. the printer self test report shows that the IP add of the network is 0.0.0.0 in the network information section, but there is a valid IP address Add (192.168.223.1) in the section of direct printing configuration.

    5. the printer works fine with usb connected;

    6. have you consulted with the people from Apple and HP on the phone, the apple people asked me to consult the HP people, then the people of HP asked me to set up the printer with an older version of Mac OS x (which I did), so that I can get the IP add after installation, and then configure the printer with the IP add on my new mac mini , but of course I couldn't get the IP add with what they said.

    7. I downloaded the printer driver more up-to-date on apple store (version 2.14) for my mini mac, the file works fine as I can open the file (unlike the configuration of HP disc invites the message: "your OSX is too new and not is not supported bla bla bla...) »).  However, there is nowhere where I can put in place the printer during installation, the file just happens by itself, installation, then telling me 'your installation is complete.', I dun even have the option of entry or to do any installation during the process;

    8. I am unable to connect the printer to my router because my router is provided by my owner and which is located under the sink in the kitchen =. = »

    9. I went through all the related topics posted here, I tried as much as I can displayed by other users, but always without success.

The printer driver CP1025nw "drives me crazy", please help!

    Thank you very much!
