Machine and user incompatible Volumes

Hey all, we are lacking in some quite incompatible behaviors with App Volumes at the moment and I just wanted to run some scenarios you guys.

We lack a question strange where we assign a stack to a set of related clones are already funded and available for the connection of the user on the view side however it doesn't attach the battery of the application when the user connects.  Need to reset the virtual machines for them fix the VMDK assigned through the Machine names.

Also is there a problem when you try to use the two Machine & user function of assignments at the same time? I can't be sure, but after the assignment of a stack to a user who logs in a machine that has an already mounted fireplace is as if the user stack is never committed.  Should we choose a method of attachment and stick with it?

We will store the batteries on a Netapp NFS file server, and the virtual machines of bound off Clone a XtremeIO table on iSCSI.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, or any idea where we can go to look a little further under the covers and see what happens.  Don't know what log files, we should examine in order to troubleshoot.

Thank you all

Functions of the machine and the user cannot be used at the same time (in the current version). When you assign appstacks computer, the user appstacks will be ignored. You can see in the management console of appvolumes under activity/System Messages.

When you use NFS, it is best to stick to the user assignments. Currently, there is a problem when redialing desktop with computer appstacks on NFS storage. You will see errors "cannot lock.

I have an open call for VMware for this support.

  • Wireless, machine and user authentication

    Hi all

I have a problem with my connection to employee wireless (802. 1 X EAP connection).

When users are on a wired connection and then come to the employee wireless on XP or 7 machine name is not automatically sent to ISE in the message of 802. 1 x. I have to restart the machine to thave the computer name sent in the 802. 1 x Message.

Is this normal? Is there any setting to have the name of the auromaticaly machine has sent on the wireless!

    Thanks for the support

    Hi Boris,.

You mean you use the authentication of the computer? and that is not used correctly when the device is already connected to the wired side? and it is only sending the username? not the name of the computer?

Well, the problem with the windows machine auth and ACS (and ISE is the same) that windows sends the auth trigger machine only when it starts. for example, if the user is already connected to the auth machine cannot be triggered.
Rather than restart the machine, I thing logging off and it will trigger demand for auth machine as well.

Microsoft RADIUS (NPS or the older IAS) can detect the State of machine auth, while the user is running. This is because Windows and the radius of the same provider, they fit together better.

I know a customer who left the entire RADIUS ACS for NPS becaue of this issue.

I hope this answers your concern.

    Hello

    then Vlan x

Basically, I'm just checking a machine in the domain and user is valid only while he should be able to have full access.

    Hello

IF (wired_802.1x and AD:externalgroup computer dommain EQUAL AND Some_domain_user_group EQUAL AD:exteranalgroup)

    -Not possible

As the authentication of the user and the machine occur in different contexts.

ACS cannot check them both at the same time.

With the help of MAR, you can, although club together and reach:

"machine is part of the domain and user is valid only while he should be able to have full access"

    Tips for MAR configuration:

    (1) set the client to authenticate user or computer.

    (2) create two rules in the authorization for the user and and the other for the machine (identity them using the ad group membership).

    (3) enable MAR on the AD on ACS configuration page and set the aging time.

    (4) in rule user, customize and use the condition "Has been authenticated machine" and the value is false.

  • Assign appstacks to the computer and user

    Hello

It seems that it is not possible to assign an appstacks users when there are already some appstacks assigned to the computer to which a user connects.

It's that System Messages log shows:

Ignore volumes for 'User', as 'Computer' already has volumes.

Is this correct, and this is a limitation of Appvolumes? This will change in a future version?

It is in fact a safety clasp. It's done because of an accessible volume writable to the user. These volumes must be set first and as part of a login process. So if there is a machine at base of volume that it will behave in ways similair to an accessible volume in writing and there is a potential for unexpected behavior. This security check will be refined over time to allow this use case.  It is not a computer technical limitation that it can work but is limited to protect the user of is

Had to do a restoration complete my xp machine and will not update, in the past, system automatically updated with cartridges of siema etc service?

What is happening, it is that it is so more the possibility of a user friendly hands on automatic update of Windows XP from a clean install.  Windows Update will NOT synchronize with and updated in the current order status to update a machine with a clean install of XP, but you separately download some patches and intermediate updates and apply them manually, to have a machine that connects a bit normally with Windows Update.

Install the last update cumulative security for the version of Internet Explorer you have currently is essential, and you need to download separately and install it before going any further.

I download a new system from my computer and everything was going well until they asked my Windows username and password. I do not remember, and I can't find. Can you get it someone please let me know where I should look... Thank you

    Hello, dreamcatcher16

Please use the Forum for answers!

You upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows 7?

You can get your username by going to C:\Users\ and find your user name under Windows Vista and C:\Documents and Settings\ for Windows XP.

We are unable to provide assistance with respect to the recovery of a password.

If you are able to connect to your machine and have administrator rights, you can then change your password by clicking on start, right-click on computer and choose manage. Open the users section and groups, then users, right click on your account and choose set password.

    I hope this helps.

  • Account administrator and user, Windows 7 Premium access control problems

We have a problem with a HP/Compaq Windows 7 Premium machine 4 months old and we cannot allow any request of the UAC.

An account on the machine is a "Standard user" without password, but when we do something like put to day or what the icon shield it and require permission from the Admin we cannot.  The alert box will appear asking you to Admin password (with no box to type, besides whom there is no account active Admin but maybe only the Super Admin account 'hidden' which is off), but also the 'Yes' button is gray and only 'no' can be clicked.

Support PC World were unnecessary, saying full install, their stock response.  Tried enabling the 'super administrator' hidden account think it worked once before when I need administrator rights to install the software, but as unable to run CMD prompt as administrator (again because UAC comes into play), I can't seem to do.

So now stuck with the new machine and messing around on the fighting with the OS: s I thought rightly or wrongly that the activation of the hidden Admin account would do, I'm sure that's what I did before, but I keep hitting the problem guest UAC as described above.  Therefore, the following does not work:

    ______________________________________

    Click Start, type: CMD
In the results, click on the right button CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
at the command prompt, type: net user administrator / active: yes

Log off, and then log on to the administrator account
Make the appropriate changes to your accounts

    Log on to your account
    Click Start, type: CMD
In the results, click on the right button CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
at the command prompt, type: net user administrator / active: No.

    ______________________________________

I tried to click with the right button on CMD prompt and checking run them as administrator on the drop down menu, but UAC prompt comes up, no luck.  Also tried setting to "Run as Administrator" when raising the properties by right-clicking... same result.

Also tried cursing at the machine... same result: o

Any help appreciated because I'm sure that I've done it before, and there is a way to pass the CMD prompt.

    Ah finally solved.

HP Compaq machines have their own start to use for recovery etc. software (accessible by pressing the ESC key), so I went into the system recovery using the backup utility to make sure that the external hard drive was last week 'missing' files, and then cancelled rather than clicking on the side to supplement a system recovery.

This gave me the traditional options of safe mode,... networks, prompt etc.  Choose Mode safe mode with command prompt and Super Administrator hidden account was visible as well as the Standard user.  Choose the account super administrator, connected, activated the password protect and define it.

    At the command prompt enter:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Restarted as Standard and UAC user now works fine.

It all started because of a need to install Open Office and then down the line a cutting machine, interrupting a Microsoft Backup, which could not be restarted without password Admin and user access control issues as described above.

Is not to hide the Admin user at all now!

  • HP Officejet 6500 - scan of the computer has disappeared on my Win 7 machine and does not exist on my Win 8

    On my Windows 7 machine:

I used to be able to start "scan my computer" page printer to my control panel, but this feature has been moved (again), perhaps due to an update. Where can I find this feature?

On my Win 8.1 machine, where can I find a scan of the computer? Currently, I have to use an application of scan user interface modern stupid I have donloaded and installed from other Windows store. I would really like to scan to computer back.

In fact, I have to pay extra if someone could invent a computer that works the same way on the day the day.  I'm getting a little tired of playing with technology (PCs, iPhones, etc) all suffer a 100% failure rate.

Hi ou81aswell, welcome to the forums.

I saw your post about losing your computer option scan. I have some suggestions for you. I can't guarantee a difficulty, however, of course I'll try!

On your Windows 7 machine and your machine Windows 8.1: run the HP printer install wizard for Windows which will install the appropriate drivers.

In addition, reset the printer and make sure it is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Avoid power bars, etc.

    Let me know what happens!

  • When windows update is running on my machine (and updates), my screen goes down to 1024 x 768.

When windows update is running on my machine (and updates), my screen goes down to 1024 x 768.  I have a HD card of ATI all-in - Wonder and an Acer X203H LCD with DVI connection.  If I use system restore to go back, I can get higher resolutions, but Windows does its thing and I'm back at low resolution.  I can't change the settings manually as 1024 watch as the highest res available to the general public when this happens.  There must be some weird conflicts.  I tried to update the drivers, that made no difference.  Is there a setting Aero or the conflict at stake here?  In the past, I've had trouble with a display of balnk and I had to go back to the 2008 version of the driver to get things to work.  From there, whenever I update, I can keep high resolution, but after the last windows update (security of IE8 and much smaller pack that was released on March 28-30), it dates back to 1024 x 768 again.  Control Panel and catalyst control the two show that as more high resolution available for refresh rate. Suggestions?

Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Vista will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

How use the windows fax machine, and how can I open an administrator account?

    Original title: activateadministratoraccount

    Hello

Thanks for your posting in the Microsoft community

Well, you can enable the administrator account hidden instead of an account

You can make the win + r and write lusrmgr.msc in the start search box or in the command run and pressing ENTER. Or, you could open the computer by right clicking on computer management in the start menu and select manage.

Expand System Tools > local users and groups > users.

Right-click the administrator account, and then select "Set password".

In the 'set password' click 'continue '.

In the "set password" enter the password of the administrator twice, then click on 'Ok '.

Then, activate the administrator account. Right click on the administrator account and select "Properties".

n check the box "account is disabled". Click on the Ok"" button.

It is important that our machines are checked as part of Active Directory, and then authenticate the port to pass traffic.

I assume that you have configured AD to automatically enroll for certificates Machines and the machines each have a computer certificate?

You have enabled remote access to machines (AD users & computers, enable remote access or using the remote access policy?)

Others that I had no problems setting this up.

If you want to enable computer-only authentication then you must edit the registry (or lower the changes through Group Policy):

    [quote]

Activate computer-only authentication using the registry

To set up authentication computer only through the registry, all Windows-based wireless clients must have the value of the following registry value:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\EAPOL\Parameters\General\Global\AuthMode = 2

With the AuthMode setting set to 2, only computer authentication is attempted. User authentication is never attempted.

To add this registry setting on all of your computers running Windows, you can use the following tools:

? Regini.exe from the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit tools

? The Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools reg.exe

In both cases, you create a script file which is read by the tool add a registry setting. The tool must be run in the security context of a local administrator account.

Alternatively, you can use network management software to change the settings of the registry on the managed computers. [/ quote]

    > it is possible to detect the user that the user has connected either reconnected to his office inside the virtual machine and run a script?

You can run scripts as user on login and reconnect, this has been a feature since 3.0. See running commands on the desktop view.

    > It is possible inside the VM user to determine if the user is connected and how long?

I don't think that we expose, but you should be able to query Windows for the connection time, or you could write the last time to connect with a script (maybe that is the reason for your first question?).
