Machine Service / ugly ugly Tech

I use my VAIO exclusively for work, and it has been a disaster since I bought it. The cursor jumps all over the screen. I can not type. I can't use the databases for my work without great difficulty. Sometimes not record not the keys. Sometimes, the screen freezes. Sometimes I can't keep the cursor on a line type. So, I took the machine in the store Sony here in the city. they have kept the machine for a few days and then called and told me that he took to a software upgrade. (Keep in mind I haven't had the computer for 6 months yet.) I drove through the city AGAIN to pick up the machine. The cursor has seemed to work funny - as the technician moved the mouse the screeen illuminated in a funny rectangle extends. He assured me that it was not big thing. I took the computer home - another hour of road. And the funniest, the machine does not work. I can not type. I can't work on it. I just left a note frustrated and angry. I take the Sony to the small claims court to recover my money. Is this normal for this company? I am a real estate appraiser and just bought a new Sony camera, too. On my old camera, the battery lasts a month between charges. On the Sony, the battery is good for 4 days. What is quality here? Any suggestions on what to do? In addition to trying to empty the computer? I have not thousands toss on crappy electronics. I thought Sony had a good representative?

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.

I'm sorry to see that you are unhappy with your Sony's Vaio computer. Sony believes that communication about these your concerns is best carried out through personal interaction with their teams of dedicated customer service rather than on the technical forum of the user to. • direct AFP share vs time machine services

I'm trying OSX Server 3.x (Mavericks), mainly to use it for Time Machine backups, but all her trying some of the other services as well installed.  My question is about the time service Machine that comes with os x Server.  I don't see myself using most of the other features on OSX Server, I will list out all my needs to the end server, but most of them can be easily made with different solutions open source, in some cases in a more flexible way, it seems then that means OSX Server out of the box.  But TM backups for my home network is the only thing that OSX Server provides I think is not provided in any other way, in addition to buying a Time Capsule.  Don't I have that right?

Time Machine, the 1, 2 or 3 options:

    1. Buy a time Capsule.  To my knowledge, Time Capsule does not allow me to set a size limit for each client computer.  They are just fighting for space until the 3 TB drive fills up.  Also 3 TB is barely big enough (except USB).  With OSX Server I can throw in a disc of TM in there to manage several macs with big backup discs.  I also have an old mac alternative pro sitting here who need a goal.
    2. Run OSX Server.  check.
    3. Forget OSXServer, manually create a part of the AFP on mac server, create a sparsebundle to every customer mac that I intend to back up and since client mac, mount the sparsebundle and use it as reader of TM.

So the question is: are there at - there any functional difference between Option2 Option3 technique?  TM OSX Server service a service works any extra well beyond the AFP, to make it more reliable in some way then option3?  If OSX Server provides just a comfortable GUI wrapper around the same underlying mechanism base mounting a sparsebundle via AFP, maybe do a little easier to monitor what is happening, etc...  Its nice to have if I happen to have OSX Server running, but if he is not so maybe I would be ok with option3 as his offering the same guarantees in terms of network dropouts, resource conflicts, and such things.  OSX Server makes it easier in some way or more reliable to stay mounted on the sparsebundle containing the tm, unlike option3 backup?

    Any thoughts?

Also compare OSX Server to Time Capsule if you have knowledge.  OSX Server seems to bring some benefits... but I don't know if OSX Server just basically provides a way to configure the creation of the sparsebundle and I could just as easily do with hdiutil, even on a TC, but certainly in option3.

Also, is there any additional functionality of TM put into play, if I configure Manager profile or something like that?  It comes to the essence of a single user in a network with multiple Macs, but a main user... it's not complicated.

Beyond backup TM, I'll use this area for the following services, some of which may be dealt with by OSX Server and some cannot, or could be better managed by full versions open source:

Time machine, AFP shares SMB sharing, Web, Pydio, Plex, iTunes server (maybe), FTP (pure-ftpd), postgres DB (need pydio or other uses I will come with), possibly git or necessarily crashplan finally.  I also can I possibly transition some critical documents of mission from a NAS separate mirrored on this machine using a raid mirror under OSX.

    Any thoughts welcome...

Also following this question, does anyone know if its possible to have TM on the server machine, backup itself via the OSX Server TM service hosted on the same computer?  When I try to select a time backup device on the server machine, it does not display the optional service TM backup device, it shows that local hard drives that are available and stores the data in the normal way of local drive... not in a sparsebundle as do all other mac clients.  NOTE - I have service TM put TM backups on a separate drive internal then the boot drive... so it is always a good idea to make a TM on the same drive, so be it.  But it seems that I need a partition dedicated to isolate the backup of the server itself... or I need to use option3 and create manually a sparsebundle to save the boot drive, since he cannot see the time service machine OSX Server...   Don't I have that right?

  • mDNS 65549 answering machine Service error

I've had a problem for several months now with my devices not appearing is not in NOR-MAX. After studying the problem, I found that the ' charger OR ' assistance is not put on because the mDNS Responder Service Gets a 65549 error when Windows starts. Manually, I can start the service and get all to work until I restart the computer and the mDNS service gets the error again once. This has happened on several different computers with several different cards of NOR.

I tried to limit the problem by loading a new installation of Windows 7 32-bit on a new computer with the latest version of the driver NOR-DAQmx (version 9.5) and an NI PCI-6601 map. No other software is installed and no Windows Update is installed another Windows Service Pack 1 which is included on my Windows 7 installation disc. I found that the mDNS responder service starts automatically if my network cable is disconnected when Windows starts. If the network cable is connected to the start, the service starts only occasionally without the error.

I searched for information on the error 65549 and have found a few things to try, but nothing has worked so far. What is the mDNS responder error 65549?

    Hi chvogt,

Would you be interested in trying a beta version of mDNS responder to see if that solves your error? If so, please send me a private message, thanks!

  • Sometimes they have a hard time capture the image on a physical machine

    Hello

Last night I had a hard time getting the image on a physical computer.  The machine is a windows 200 advanced server with Service Pack 4.  Last week, I was able to do it without any problem with the same thing.  I was finally able to capture the image after that I went into control manual (Add/Remove Programs) and remove the agent then rebooted. Has started the process more.

The log file is attached. I'm just curious as to why the problem occurred.  I used the Converter 3.0.3.

    TNT

It could be a problem with the version of the converter that you use. Of the 3.0.3 release notes, in the section "problems":

New that task fails for source machine remote Windows when navigating backwards in the Conversion Wizard

When the following circumstances are present, the physical source computer does not restart:

    • You are remote hot cloning a source of Windows 2000 or Windows NT4 machine

    • The agent is installed on the source machine, but the system has not yet been restarted

    • You change the selection in the source and change to the original source before clicking on finish in the Conversion Wizard

In this scenario, the task will fail with an instant failure error message. The reboot is required to start the snapshot on the source remote machine service if this converter can take the snapshot of the machine.

You can try to use the 4.0 version converter and see if you can reproduce the error.

  • HP Pavilion 15-n241ca TouchSmart laptop touch does not

I got this laptop a few months there are source in Alberta in the Canada. Worked well for a week or two and then the touchscreen began to stop working intermittently.

Once or twice, it seemed that permits to clean the screen (not salty) but no more.

It has just stopped working completely during the last month or so.

I tried the cleanser to windows on a towel and a microfibre cloth... completely to edges and nothing.

I ran all the troubleshooters, updates of pilot... everything is up to date and working correctly or what they say.

    Help?

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the help. Wish I had asked earlier.

But... I went to the conversation in support of the site and spoke to a representative of HP service. It to distance a diagnosis and tried to get touchscreen operational mmy, but nothing would work. Finish by wiping off my machine and try from scratch. Still nothing.

My computer will be picked up by UPS in a few days for a journey to the nearest service center. Obviously, I have hardware problems.

So my computer is not working properly, BUT the HP customer service is safe.

Everyone I spoke to there was just great and SO happy to help you. Looks like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm NOT. First day was Gio (sp?) and yesterday it was Cory I think was called the snowman.

I'm in the Canada, they are in the Philippines.

These guys were both so friendly and we chatted and laughed as we worked on my machine.

    They felt like old friends.

    Yesterday with Cory was hilarious.

He asks a few questions... in his professional voice... I let him know that the system restore didn't help and after a few more questions, he asked my delivery address so that my laptop could be picked up.  I'm out to my mailing address and name of course... I tell him the city, then the province (Alberta) and dude BUSTS OUT a "CANADA!"  you're in CANADA! "YES! Yes, I'M in the Canada!

You see, here at the Canada and especially in Alberta (80% of all NEW jobs in the Canada are created in ALBERTA) there is a SERIOUS labor shortage. We import many workers and MANY are Philipinos. Many are great friends of mine. I'm a musician and a BATCH of Philipinos (they are a bit like Mexican... somehow, MANY of them are GREAT singers. As I mean SCARY good singers... and I met and was good friends with a bunch of musicians Philipino back in the early/mid-90s called the boys of Manilla-Shout Out to Freddie and Oscar).  and so... I feel some sort of connection to the Philippines and it's people and of course, a lot of Philipinos like the Canada and Canadians.

WHY the rave on the Philippines? Well Yes... I got a little roundabout, BUT... my POINT is that Westerners lament and complain of having to deal with Service Centers the company customer. Sometimes rightly so. You know, a lot of times you call to ask questions on an item and you talk to people in India (also have many Indian friends... This isn't a disparagement) or China or somewhere where they're TRYING to help, but the language barrier is hard to overcome. Warm up. On both ends of the line or the internet, people feel frustrated... you know how it goes.

BUT... with HP and I talked to three different representatives of CS at LEAST, EVERYONE was VERY helpful. Everyone knew exactly what they were doing. We are patient. They were HAPPY. They spoke a PERFECT English.

We were able to get my machine... my touch screen works again? Nope :-(

My machine will work soon? I hope so. MAYBE... IF the service center, it goes to employs Philipino Tech lol.

As I said Gio, it is the FIRST factory built, brand name of computer I bought in 10 years. My FIRST was an Emachines and it worked perfectly for YEARS. I just grew out of it. Since then, I've been buying little outfits or my own machines, I have pieced together.

I'm SO happy that I chose an HP machine this time.

I didn't even need to produce a receipt (I have and would have been able to). GIO remotely connected to my laptop and find all the information he needed.  There was a moment where I said something like... "oh no." Do you think maybe the Source a replacement policy or something? ' and Gio said... "Oh you don't have to worry about this. I see here that you have the complete warranty coverage (I did not purchase the extended warranty when I bought the laptop) until March of next year.

Once again, my experience with the HP Customer Service has been phenomenal every time I called or chatted with them. GIO has made all diagnostic tests in the book. He uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. There are troubleshooting performed. He has tried this and he tried. He gave me GREAT instructions. We did a full system restore.

Once who has not fixed the problem they immediately sent me a box of UPS to take my computer back in. I didn't have to make a complaint or claim or ask or demand. Once the restore has failed THEIR next thing was to get my machine service.

Between you and me I am hoping that there is something seriously wrong and maybe they'll send me a NEW notebook and maybe this will be the next model!  Yes Yes I know, wishful thinking. But hey... my sons iPod broke down a couple of years and Apple (which is CS was ALSO amazing... at least it was a few years ago) sent him a replacement. The NEXT generation of iPod!

Samsung Note 2 my wife began to... Well do not receive calls. Samsung has it send to the nearest service center. It worked fine for one day and then started not to receive calls again. Samsung free (sort of) said... ok this time ONLY we'll send it to a center of service AGAIN.

They did, and it dint work... again. Clearly, they were just a hard factory reset... which my wife had already tried a bunch of times. She has somewhat given up on Samsung and said... you know... I think I'll go back to Apple. Their CS was so much BETTER than Samsung.

But the next day (like 2 weeks ago), she spoke at Telus, its supplier of cells and explained that his phone was not working and she was a loyal customer of Telus for decades. As his monthly bill (for 3 phones... mine, his and our son) are as close to $200 (Yes, we live in a remote location). She said that when its contracts are met it will be with another (cheaper) provider and another phone. BTW... all 3 of us currently have Samsung droid phones.

Welllll... TELUS took the steering wheel and said... Don't worry me MAA.  There is no service in your town center so just return it to where you bought the note 2. We just called them and they are waiting for you. They are ready to replace your phone. Simply put the Note2 for a recovery.

She goes to the store and they say... choose any phone again. It is on Telus.

They did not have the S5 in stock, but she prefers larger notes, while she walked out with a brand new Samsung Note3 :-)

The moral of this story which is nowadays that service most of the customer business is VERY GOOD. HP is NO exception.

My HP hardware has a few problems, so I wouldn't be able to assess their products as EXCEPTIONAL, but their CS? It is MORE than EXCEPTIONAL.

If YOU're in the market for a new computer, PLEASE if HP is in your line of sight. You are in GREAT hands with HP. I would recommend HP to EVERYONE.

My computer does not work correctly. I'll be without even if he died (it would be NICE if they had a policy of loan but...) I hope that the turnaround time will be SHORT) but I hope that I will not be without TOO long and who knows... Perhaps they will have to replace my whole notebook and if they do, maybe they'll upgrade me for the next model. Wishful thinking again, I know, but anyway... I KNOW I'll have a good state of computer market again before too long.

THANKS Hewlett Packard. And ESPECIALLY thank you Gio! And Cory too... AND others who's names I don't remember because our time was very short.

I'm SO glad that I chose HP!

    :-)

P.S. I don't think I've never been THIS happy to have a broken product. Laughing out loud.

Thank you for your responses and suggestions. I think that this thread (without THIS long post) will be useful to many people who have problems with the touch screen in the future.  We'll just hope that "many people" will not be NEEDING help and usually HAVE problems with touch screen.

  • Emails from my Inbox endangered on my iPhone

My wife and I have iPhone 5, running IOS 9.2.

    On two phones:

In settings, under mail, we "Ask before you remove" start-up.

Phones are voting normally, which means that when mail inbox server of our provider and we strike question e-mail (sliding down) on the iPhone, copies of the new mail are introduced in the Inbox on the iPhones.

    The difference is:

When my wife then queries the mail on his cell phone, and mail is brought into his Inbox Mail app on the phone, that only disappear from Inbox to the server provider, it disappears also his iPhone app mail inbox. On my iPhone, the mail remains in the Inbox Mail app even after that he disappears from the Inbox to the server provider.

There must be a setting on his phone which is different from mine, but I couldn't find it and the service at Verizon tech - who sold us the phones - was also puzzled.

Is there a way to email to stay on his iPhone, even after that he downloaded from the server using a laptop?

I see that there are a lot of questions out there similar to this and a lot of "I have a question too" s but no answers.

    Interesting.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • X 300 fan? No solution?

OK, so after doing hours of research and trying various software "fan", I pretty well GOT it with the fan in my laptop X 300! How much more might be awkward this thing? He is constantly! I just downloaded and installed upgrading recent BIOS, and anything else that I could find that I felt may address this problem without a bit of luck. I'm not using or doing anything else than justifyies the fan being on 24/7. It is definitely a PROBLEM! I found a post that talks about the individual in his X 300 for a service and a tech to Lenovo, fixing the problem, but positions indivudual than no info on what has been done or how the fan problem has been resolved. Everyone has found ways to 'mask' the problem using software to third-party fan control. To me this isn't a solution, and quite frankly if shit hits the fan (no pun intended) I won't be the one to explain to Lenovo why my CPU fried upward due to third-party fan control app South on me...

Does anyone have a solution for this? How does Lenovo? Should I bother even appellant playing their hour hold and transfer of routine?

A day after the announcement of this response, my computer died on me...

I am pleased to announce, the problem for the two unstable fan (constantly on and super fast spinning) and my computer does not start has been FIXED! It was a faulty fan!

This scenario and the update is here...

  • removal of alleged registry files corrupt

    Hey yall hows it going?

I'm running a 64 bit vista Home premium computer laptop sony vaio. and suddenly, I can't print to my network printer. We recently had a nasty virus AV on the desktop (to which the printer is connected) but malwarebytes got rid of it for me. now my two computers laptops cant print via our wireless connection. (they could before the virus) I ran a few free diagnostic software (on my computer vista laptop) who told me I had a couple of registry keys corrupt / & a file corrupted. more precisely

    C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3<--the corrupt="">

    &

    "HKEY_local machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\print\monitors\pcl hp2314v2.<--corrupt registry="">

    &

    "HKEY_local machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\print\monitors\wsd port.<--2nd corrupt="" registry="">

My question is, I can delete these registry without causing any damage? normally I don't mess with registry files but I tried everything I can think of.

    already, I've tried:

    1. check all cable connections for the desktop, rebooted printer and all machines, including printers, restarted router (cisco)

2 restart the spooler (all machines) service

    3. restarted the spooler RPC service depends on (all machines)

    4. uninstalled the printer software and reinstalled (vista machine)

    5. download & install usb & wifi & network updates to Adapter Sony (the manufacturer of my vista machine)

6 made phone calls to both norton & hp (I thought that norton could help since they are the ones who let the virus, called hp since it is their two companies told to call another printer.)

7 microsoft has sent (last don't use - no response yet)

    any ideas?

If you need a DVD of Vista Micropsoft, you will need to borrow one, I already advised you to do.

  • HP ENVY Phoenix 810-330qe intermittent IDT no speaker no headset no sound

All new machine.  Audio resigned after 12 hours.  If after installation, sometimes it arranges auto.  The speakers/Hheadphones in the Audio window shows the device as not plugged In, which is incorrect.  The specified default device is output digital (S/PDIF), but using the optical output port. No amount of updated software or the restore has permanently fix the issue.  Reoot and get lucky is not a good solution.  I think it's a hardware problem and need to return the machine.

HP Tech support recalled.  Had run me diagnostics to start.  During switching on, press the ESC key until the Start Menu displays. With no BONE in the mixture, the component Test option will send a test cycle to each audio device.  In this case, with a record of speaker in one shot at a time, test each audio port.  No sound has never been detected during this test (4 ports).  A problem with the hardware out of the box found technical support. Audio ports are a stand-alone module that is riveted to the hull, so almost no repairable on site. Has got to send it back. Not a fix for the problem of equipment, but a resolution on the issue.

    Steps to reproduce the prolbem:

Connect the speaker plug. Start the PC. No sound.

    Steps to fix the problem:

Remove all caps, speakers, headphones, etc. Start the PC. Connect an audio device, sound works, until the release of the sleep cycle.

Suggest running diagnostics to boot and test all components without the additional OS uncertainty flakey.

These new green machines is not audio to a port if a card is not detected. It would save more than 1 million machines milliwatts per machine, but mulipliied and you get the picture.

Finally they gave me a free support and support person said that there is something wrong with the computer I received.  Something other than the computer is unbalanced and wobbles when he types. I sent the compture to get fixed and it never got fixed.  I thought I would just deal with it because you get what you pay for.

In January my XPS studio crashed. Screen has become sell contact of Virgin material and the damage. So I called dell. It took them a month to figure out, and indeed there is something wrong witht the computer. Thus broke computer I couldn't use it for a month. Finally I got the new memory and hard new dirve. The next day, my computer crashed. He spent a month trying to say Dell that something was wrong with my computer. All that time I spent 30-75 minutes on the phone with technical support. It was time that I called 4 days a week. I bought long and costly warrenties on my computer, including hardware and software. Not to mention cell phone chargers. Finally I conviced someone as my computer is really broken and they agreed to send me another computer. I'll go at least a computer that works. Understandable that it would take some time to get my replacement. My replacement date came and went. I called Dell again 45 minutes on the phone.  Then I've been transferred several times. The rep that I talked to said that they have not yet started doing my replacement.  It has been frustrating and I think that he was treated in a disrespectful way, what happened to quality customer service.

On top of that today I was warned that even if the company has already approved my payment of $ 1,500, they now can't seem to find a record of the transaction and consider my past due account.  Also, they refused to refund my money and couldn't give me any assurance that the situation would be resolved.

Anyone has any advice on the purchase of an Apple, I hear they have great customer service and wonderful tech support.

I just wanted you to know that you aren't the only one with all these problems.  I am struggling with for more than a month to replace my computer. Finally, on March 1, they said they would and they have placed an order.  Now a week later it stil is not delivered because they can't find a 'HARD' for my computer.  REFERENCE DELL SUCKS AND I WIL NEVER BUY ANOTHER.    I put a post of "do NOT GET ALL the ANSWERS.
