On OS X Recovery - Apple Support

Format the startup disk, and then reinstall El Capitan via the recovery

However, you can run this and post the results here so that we know more about your configuration. Information, we will be able to allow you to remove items, you don't want or need.

  • Mac Mini 2010 Date and reset time

SP, recently, apparently without any reason at all, date and time of my Mac Mini will reset to January 1, 2000 at 00:00:00 every time that I turn on/off. I tried various methods, such as getting it automatically sets the time and date, manually set the time and date and time zones and other things. Nothing has worked.

As in the title, it's a Mac Mini 2010. I had this problem before with a full boot disk and other things, drive hard replacement necessary. He was replaced earlier this year, and I had no problem with him since then, so far. It is the break Safari (certificates are not recognized), internet and other applications such as soft. Any suggestions?

A flat battery logic-board can cause this behavior. Refer to the user manual for replacement instructions. You may need to take the machine to a provider of services to have to replace the battery.

  • Retrocopatibility between the latest Mac OS and the old Mac Mini

    Hello

I m trying to buy a Mac Mini used for my son but I want a machine that can use the latest Mac OS today and at least the next operating system.

I know that older machines cannot use the operating system more recent (I had this problem with a MacBookPro). Where can I get information on this to avoid buying too much a machine old and limited in this respect?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Best.

The Mac mini 2010 aka. Mac mini 4.1 or later supported El Capitan (the current version) and macOS Sierra (next version) of the Mac operating system. While the older models of Mac minis are also supported El Capitan they will not support Sierra.

  • OS is erased on Intel Mac Mini 4 Solos (2006)

    Hello:

    -1-

I bought 4 Intel mac mini solo on Ebay from a seller with more than 300 sales and a reputation for 100%.

    -2-

The Macs were pulled from a working environment and sold in working order, but one with a CD ROM slot twisted and sold as parts.

The operating system had been erased on all four hard drives.

    -3-

None of the Mac started (i.e. played the startup chime) when connected to power adapters 100 W or an adapter to power 85 W and pressing the power button.

    -4-

The keyboard and mouse have been non-responsive to startup shortcuts:

-STROLLER -: command, Option, P, and R keys

-B - Safe mode: command and S keys

C - Boot from CD room: control and C keys

    -5-

I opened a mac mini and replaced the PRAM Battery, reset the RAM and removed the hard drive.

The hard drive has already been logged, but had no content.

I also reformatted the hard drive with an iMac 2010 with four partitions:

-1-5 start disk FAT 32 concerts and copied an image of a live installation of spin (LXDE) fedora linux light

-2-2 GB of swap disk FAT 32

-3-15 start Mac gig log disk

-B-how to use the black OS X installation disc to install the hard drive?

-C-is I have to get the existing image of an OS X 10.5 install on an Intel mac mini solo and copy it to the hard drive?

D-is it possible to install OS X 10.5 with an installation disc 2011 Intel or Intel iMac mac mini 2010?  Could I point the installation of an external hard drive and then mount the hard drive installed in the mac mini solo?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

You should get a chime of starting with no BONES or even no disc.

What adoptive parent of power do you use?

The only disks will install on the Mini are the original install (gray) discs that came with the Mini or retail (white). The original install disks of another model Mac will not work.

Macs Solo can go as high as Snow Leopard.

If the Mini shows life, you should be able to start the Mini in target disk Mode

The 2011 native Mini with Lion and no installation disc

The iMac 10.6.4 from 2010. If you fully updated on the iMac to 10.6.8 then you should be able to start on the Mini, but not before completely update. The iMac installation disc doesn't have the drivers for the Mini

What happened to Sierra Mac Mini mid-2010?  As a first step, I realized it was the lower end of the system requirements.  Many citations on the support pages and anywhere on the web say "Mac Mini mid-2010 or newer."  But now, after half a day struggling with the installation, I find that he must now be "mid-2011 or newer!  Changed Whaaaa?

I went on the hard drive of a few years for one SSD OEM and the fan runs all the time.  In my view, there is a connector on the card, which has no connection with it.

I read that this occurs when the thermal sensor is not placed on the new hard drive.

How many connection should be here soon out of the drive to connect to the map?

    How can I fix?

    TIA

The original HD had a sensor taped to the road with adhesive tape double faces. You had to move the sensor to the new drive. Without the detector, the fan runs at full speed.

MY Mac mini mid-2010 is very slow.  I have 2 GB of memory and would like to increase it.  Can I do it myself or do I have to make to someone professional tech?

It is very easy to replace the RAM on a Mini from 2010-2012. See the videos:

Make sure you get only the memory of a place as above which guarantees that proper operation with your Mini. Macs ae picky on memory.

My mac mini (mid-2010) speed/performance is very slow - think of it as a result of letting my kids do "whatever" about it in recent years.  Need help, consolidate the files, software updates, etc. in order to improve the speed and performance.  You will also need to get data out of old PowerBook G4.

  • Can I also use RAM from a mac mini in 2012 in an iMac 2010?

    Hello

I recently updated the RAM in a mac mini 'end 2012' a member of the family of 2 x 4 GB 2 x 8 GB, which means that I now have two spare 4 GB modules.  I also got an iMac 27 "older, (mid-2010), which has 4 x 2 GB RAM modules.

Can I replace two 2 GB modules in the iMac with two 4 GB of the mac mini modules to increase his performance a bit?  (it is no longer my main machine, but I still use it, and it's not like I'm going to do a lot for the minis ex modules on eBay!)

Looking at the specifications, the 2010 need PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SDRAM mac 204-pin SO-DIMM, while ex-mac mini modules are PC3-12800 (1600 MHz), 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM.  It seems to me like the mac mini modules can roll at a faster rate as the needs of the iMac, but on the assumption that surpassing the requirements can be a problem, they won't work?   Would be risking damage (to the iMac or modules) if I gave them a try? In other words, what is the worst that can happen?

    Any experience/advice welcome!

    Richard.

Hard to say, but using RAM that differs from the form is always a gamble. RAM rated faster than necessary can work. You can judge them. If there is a problem, that you will be alerted by the operating system no doubt when you try to start.

To avoid any problems with the RAM does not. He will not or should not damage the computer.

last possible system on Mac Mini 1.93 GHz Intel Core 2 GB memory?

My system works very well except for Safari and Firefox, which NOW have updated versions.  What is the solution? I use Snow Leopard and latest Firefox since it's 48.0.2 and Safari's 5.1.10 that I can no longer use to access certain web pages

If you do not meet the above, but respect what follows, then you can upgrade to El Capitan.

    Upgrade to El Capitan

You can pass the Lion El Capitan or directly from Snow Leopard. El Capitan can be downloaded for FREE from the Mac App Store.

To upgrade to El Capitan, you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or installed Lion. Download El Capitan from the App Store. Sign in with your Apple ID. El Capitan is free. The file is big enough, more than 5 GB, allow it some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Mac that can be upgraded to OS X El Capitan

1 iMac (mid-2007 or newer) - model identifier 7.1 or later

2 MacBook (late 2008 or early 2009 or newer aluminium) - model identifier 5.1 or later

    3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

4 MacBook Air (late 2008 or newer)- model identifier 2.1 or later

5 mac mini (early 2009 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

6 mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

7 Xserve (early 2009) - model identifier 3.1 or later version

To find the identifier of the model open system information in the Utilities folder. It is displayed in the Panel on the right.

    Are my applications?

See table of application - RoaringApps compatibility

    Upgrade to Lion

If your computer does not meet requirements to install the above, it can still meet the specifications to install Lion.

You can buy Lion to the Apple store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus taxes.  It's a download. You will receive an email with a redemption code that you then use on the Mac App Store for download Lion. Save a copy of this installer to your download folder because Setup deletes itself at the end of the installation.

    Lion system requirements

1 mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,

    or Xeon processor

    2. 2 GB of memory

    3 OS X 10.6.6 or later (10.6.8) recommended

    4. 7 GB of available space

    5. certain features require an Apple ID; conditions apply.
