  I have install VM - FEX in vmware 6.0 vspher and I can't find the software VEM. I was sent 2.2.3f in UCS and I downloaded the drivers from 2.2.3f, but in the ESXi_6.0 folder, I find the version 5.5 of vib ESXi

  Anyone know where I can download the vib for ESXi 6.0?

  Do you need multiple boot LUN on the storage array for each host that you want to apply the service profile to? I'm just confused, let's say I have 12 blades that I want to designate as boot SAN for ESXi, y aura-t 12 profiles of separate service for each of them, and will need me 12 different LUNS on our storage? I am new to this and I just want to make it as clean as possible! Any help is appreciated.

  Hi Justin,

  You can have the same LUN ID for multiple service profiles, as well as the same target ID. However, your initiators will be different and you will need to configure the zoning on your switch upstream if you use the end host mode.

  Welcome to the community,

  Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

• VMware Tools for ESXi not in running and not installed

  (nested) Tools of ESXi does not.

  I installed an ESXi 5.5 nested on a physical and installed 5.5 ESXi host tools on the virtual ESXi5.5.

  However both the client c# as the Web Client report not (not running, not installed) tools.

  When I type 'list of software esxcli vib', I see the esx-tools-for-esxi in the list.

  I have attached the vmware.log for the nested ESXi, I use nesting for several years only and had no problems.

  You are hiding the fact that you run in a virtual machine, if the tools do not start.  Shut down the virtual computer, remove this line from your configuration file and restart:

  monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = true

Of course, if a VMFS path is not configured under software > advanced settings, then the papers will not be stored on a persistent storage.   You must configure partitions on the USB key, which is a bit complicated. One for ESXi and the other for logging. If the host has local storage (our not, that is why we are doing the extra work) it may be better to just write logs in the data store.

  I got a little confused with the ESXi upgrade continuously, so I would like to read it again.

  I managed to download ESXi 5.0, 5.1 and 5.5 and vSphere last trial.

  Am I right to say that vSpere will be 5.5 & retro-compatible with 5.0,5.1?

  I try to find "option groups" so that I can simulate an upgrade, but I find only the install ISO images.

  Or did I miss something, I'm supposed to use installation ISO Images to upgrade?

  Yes, it will work. The licenses are for version major 5.x, this includes minor versions.

  9.0 pre-installed VMware I installed in my laptop. I created a 5.0 as a VM ESXi in workstation. And I installed vSphere client 5.0 in my laptop. And I am able to access ESXi from my laptop through the vSphere client.

  Now, I created a VM with Windows 2008 R2 on top of ESXi. I installed vCenter 5.0 in Windows 2008 R2 Machine. I have just to connect to vCenter using vSphere client (which has been installed in my laptop) and added ESXi as host in the inventory.

  Now, I created a VM with Openfiler. Everything is fine. I want to use this Openfiler as a storage array, and I want the SAN with ESXi and Openfiler configuration.

  I think I need to create a VMkernel port group and attach that Openfiler VM who. And if I want to access the Openfiler web interface, do I need to have internet access? We can access the Openfiler Web interface without having access to the internet?

  Can someone let me know how to connect this Openfiler as a storage Bay for ESXi and configure a San.

  Openfiler does not need Internet access and you do not require an additional VMkernel port for access.  If it's production, you share the management and traffic on NIC iSCSI physical separate and thus vmkernel ports.  In this case, it is not necessary.  Did you do the initial installation of Openfiler to create a LUN for the ESXi host access?
