memory of reserved equipment occupies high memory

Hi all

It's saravnan high school.

I am using windows 7 Home premium.

RAM memory: 8 GB

Reserved memory is about 7 GB OS and h/w.

total space: 8192 MB

reserved hardware memory: 5427

in use memory: 1849

stand-by: 864

changed: 43

free: 9

Please tell me how to shrink the h/w placeholder.

explain why the os memory occupies 1849 MB but win7 recommended memory is 1 GB.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Thank you

but my question is...

I use win 7 Home premium 32 bit OS... while checking the status of resourse monitor ram...  It shows as 8192 MB total ram memory, but the memory is 1345 MB only...

Another ram memory is used by some other process such as mem H/s reserved

I can't attach the screenshot here...

screenshot will explain my problem
-------------------------------------------------------

my knees resource monitor displays as

Total ram memory: 8192 MB

THAT IS WHY I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCESS A VM MACHINES MORE...

because around 5 GB ram memory is locked by h/s reserved memory...

I asked the question of details for very specific reasons (your question of OS architecture).  This is important.

You have 32-bit Windows.  It does support up to 4 GB of memory (and not made up to 4 GB of memory available for anything whether it is running under the Windows 32-bit operating system said.)   The "up to" is explained by the way your hardware (video card is usually a large part) must also as the memory of some process.  Generally, a Windows installation of 32 bits in a system with 4 GB or the physical RAM plus will show between 2.89 and 3.75 GB available for the system to use.  So if you have 16 GB of physical memory - you only have access to between 2.89 and 3.75 GB of it through the operation of 32 bits, you have chosen to run.  The variance, again, depends on factors, including your hardware.

If you want to use the memory between 4 and 8 GB, even in a virtual machine, you will need to install 64-bit Windows.
You could go far in this, understand exactly why your device video (and other components) use a portion of the memory up to 4GB in your 32-bit operating system - but since you're not (AFAIK) using a Macintosh computer, and most likely, your system is 64-bit capable... your best bet is to get a version of 64-bit Windows installed and actually enjoy the equipment you bought.

First of all I want to say that so far Toshiba online support was pathetic, all the pages that might have lead me to a useful address refused to load (and no it wasn't my internet), the site was confusing and it took me over an hour to get here. I can only hope that someone on this forum has an idea of what is wrong.

I just bought my Satellite L650D-111 and it arrived yesterday and it's awesome set apart from a question he uses less than a third of the ram that should. It is a screenshot of the physical memory usage in resource monitor:
    http://I106.Photobucket.com/albums/m272/human_condition/PhysicalMemory.jpg
The memory usage is constantly upward at 700-800 MB, which means that my laptop runs at about one third of the speed at which it should. My boyfriend who has a degree in computer science spent ages trying to fix and couldn't; should I just send it again?

And what is the result? Your laptop is to slow or what? Did you notice performance issues? It has influence on the use of BONE or the use of certain applications to certain negative?

What exactly your boyfriend made or tried so far?

You run Windows 32-bit or 64-bit? If 32-bit, read below:

All versions of Windows 32-bit client (not just XP/Vista/7/8/10) have
a 4 GB address space (64-bit versions can use much more). It's the
theoretical upper limit beyond which you cannot go.

But you can't use the whole address space. Even if you have a
4 GB address space, most of the people cannot use around 3. 1 GB of RAM.
This is because some of the space is used by the hardware and is not
available for the operating system and applications. The amount you can
use varies, depending on what hardware you have installed, but can
range from as little as 2 GB to 3.5 GB. It's usually around
    3. 1 GB.

Note that the hardware is using the space, not the real address
The RAM itself. If you have a larger amount of RAM, the rest of the RAM
goes unused because there is no address to map space to.

  • Sudden increase in hardware reserved memory?

I've had my current PC for 6 years. It has 8 GB of RAM installed and has been since I built it. It is always saved these 8 GB. But as of about a week before, he can use 6 of those, with 2 GB 'Reserved material'. The has not had changes to the material in about a year. The system has nothing hardware wise that can justify the taking of a quarter of my memory.

    Anyway to recover this memory?

I have my apologies for the delay in response. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will definitely help you with this.

The amount of memory usable are not exact amounts. Usable memory is a calculated amount of total physical memory, less "reserved equipment." I suggest you refer to the below given link and check if it helps.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Satellite M100-126 - Win 7 32 bit indicates 'only' 3 GB of memory usable

    Hello

    Here's the situation:

    I have a Toshiba satellite M100-126 (PSMA1E - 0PV021FR) running Windows 7 32 bit.
He had originally 2gigs of Ram, but after that my brother's cell phone broke down (motherboard failure) I took his 2x2gig of ram and installed in my laptop.

Initially, the BIOS detected only 3gig, so I flashed the bios than that recommended by the Toshiba Download Center, i.e. v 3.0, http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/eula/calleula.asp?ID=66238 direct link (if it works). There is also a version 5.6, only for Vista, but I did not use that one.

For now: the bios detects 4gigs and Windows, but windows says 'only' memory usable 3gigs.
Windows resource allocation, 1gig is 'reserved material', so this memory usable 3gig. If I replace one of the modules by a 1gig module 2 giga, I get only 2 MB of the reserved equipment, and 3 gigs installed memory are usable...

    Here are the questions now:
I am aware of the limit of memory for 32-bit systems, and that I won't be able to use the full 4gigs of anyway, but my brother got 3.5 GB of memory can be used on 32-bit system... Is it

    Hello

Win 32 bit can allocate only 3.2 GB (not 3.5 GB)
It is the limitation of all 32-bit operating systems.
I put t see any problems here the BIOS detects 4 GB of RAM. It s ok.
Windows can use 3 GB only because the other party is used by the graphics card.

The GPU can share a part of the main memory too and it also depends on the available main memory.

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Netbook. It came with 1 GB of RAM and Windows 7 starter. Took me to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate and it's much better. Given that the memory was only 1 GB I installed a 2GB chip instead. The BIOS of the computer/is happy with it, but Windows 7 will use only 1 GB of it.

Resource monitor scored the extra 1 GB has "reserved equipment." They have no reserved before the addition of the extra RAM.

    Hi pcstan

I would like to know what version of the operating system are you using? It is 32-bit or 64-bit?
You can try the following methods: -.
    1. change setting memory remapping in BIOS. This setting can have different names, look at the motherboard or computer manual.
    2. run msconfig.exe. Under Startup go to advanced options and change your maximum memory available.
    This can help you

  • Where is the sound?

Hi, I have a new Hp pavilion dv6, windows 7 and having trouble with the sound.  Cannot make it work.  Was using Skype and thought that this might have caused the problem, but since Skype has been removed I still get all the sounds.  What should I do?

    Welcome to the Forum.

If it worked before, it could be a setting.

Here are a couple of things to try without knowing much about what's going on...

When you open the tab reading below - make a right click on it (see where the mine has a green check mark, around that area) and make sure that the device are not disabled.  If so, then "activate."  Pouf.  Fact.  -Go through and make sure that all of this is that you need / like it.

    Control Panel-> sound-> reading

Click on the speakers and headphones

If 'Speakers and headphones' are not the default setting, then make the "Default".

Then try a test with "Configure."  You can continue with this...

Optional - this can help if the sound is displayed but is not good:

Speakers and Headphones-> tab Properties (lower right corner),

Select and go to 'Advanced Options' - then select "24 bit - 96000 Hz".

NOTE: See CHANGES below!  November 4, 2011

    CHANGES!  November 4, 2011

Some time previously, I tried (successfully) the 24 bits, 96000 setting.  I have learned since then that it is simply not possible for most of the systems (not to mention most of the computers) make use of this context.  In fact, in some cases, it can be detrimental to the quality of the sound.  Well, live and learn.  Nearly thirty years I have learned good taste of Corneille and the value of own mistakes.

I left in the chart, because he is seen as he scored.  I add these words of correction to clarify: in many cases the adjustment may actually provide an optimal sound, even if it is in fact a mistake.  In some cases, depending on your own system, this 24-bit equipment, 96000 setting can come back and "bite".  If the setting works, then let him, or consider changing to that shown below.

Here's the big problem with this setting (so I hear): If you check out music, it makes your bigger files.  Unless you have some equipment very high-end, some very high expectations and some serious on the disk and memory to burn, you don't want to burn a lot of music for this parameter.  Ah, tasty Crow.

Speakers and headphones - advanced - 16 bit, 48000 Hz DVD

There are a few other things "Advanced tab", you can play.

If you have trouble with, say, Skype or games or other applications containing the sound.

then CLEAR the checkbox "exclusive Mode".

End of November 4, 2011 CHANGES

    I hope this helps.

The other place to check and watch is 'Sounds' tab (above the Read tab) - you can adjust it as your sound 'system sounds' like - choose 'Cityscape', 'Delta', 'Garden '...

    Good luck.

  • 3 1 GB / 8 GB of ram can be used on Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello

I recently bought a new W510 with windows 64-bit, and 8 GB of ram, however, both in the Task Manager and resource monitor, the available RAM is said to be about 3 GB. In the resource monitor, a massive 5 GB is "reserved equipment." The W510 has a discreet graphics card, I doubt that any amount of material would require 5 GB of memory reserved.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

So, I'm a bit disappointed by the fact that the computer came with 30Gb (!) already used hard drive, and which excludes the 10 GB recovery partition. I wasn't aware that Lenovo tends to install on computers.

Finally, the left click is very sticky and often will be stuck down. The computer is new, and frankly I'm a little disappointed that the mouse does not work properly.

The memory is a known issue with the bios.20 and has been resolved if you install the latest version of the bios (.24 I think)
