Merge patch utility

Hello Oracle Experts:

I am applying approximately 15 patches. Some of them have pre-reqs.

If I group them all in the same patch of fusion, is smart enough to find the pre-reqs before you apply the patch that needs them?

In other words, as long as the pre-reqs are merged with the patch that needs them, will be the patch full ok, or do I need to apply all the pre-reqs before applying the merger?

I think it's the case that fusion will be able to use the unified pilot to apply the pre-reqs before the patch that needs them.

Looking for a confirmation before applying the merger.

Thanks and peace.

DA.

Yes.

The patch works properly and finish with success (compared to the pre - req.).

Fix.

When merging patches, please consider the following:

-AD patches can be merged with other AD, but AD patches patches and fixes no AD can not be merged

-You can merge a patch no AD with any other patch AD

-You can merge patches with their listed required patches

-You can merge individual patches with mini-packs and maintenance releases

Thank you

  • EBS merge Patching doubt

    Hi all

I merged around 15 patches. Everything by applying this patch merged using the options adpatch = /hotpatch it works auto config at the end of the application of patches. So, I just want to know patch causing to run the automatic configuration. How to find out.

    Version of the EBS: R12.1.3

    Thank you

In this case, it would be easier to run adpatch with "options = noautoconfig" - AD Options from command line for the version R12 (Doc ID 1078973.1)

However, AutoConfig would still be necessary to explicitly run after applying patch since it is included in one (or more) of the (s) patch.

    Thank you

    Hello

for example, I have 34 patches...
If I apply it one by one and say that I only finished on the 15th, and then the users required now
I can't start the apps if users need without the right problem?

It depends on the last patch you applied, but usually, you should be OK to mention the application (provided that all previous fixes have been applied with success).

Why can't do on the patch of merger? or how can I do?

Try it first on a test instance before applying it on your production instance and make sure you take a backup before doing so. You can also apply the patch using 'apply = no' option.

However, when I just add option - admode in the same command, get the error this invalid "-s" option To please see below the details and suggest as there Note: this merger should be a full merger with - admode.

  • problems of utility host updated with the latest patches of two

Through the host update utility Vshpere I tried to update one of my ESXi hosts (4.0.0 181792) with the latest patches.

I scan the host for the patches with the patch utility and hosts just constantly lies in the "scanning" through the utilitty and not going anywhere ever (I know there are spots available).

I rebooted the host repeatedly tried and out of maintenance etc mode, no dice.

    Also tried to force the update by downloading the hotfix in zip format files of https://www.VMware.com/mySupport/s3portal.Portal?_nfpb=true & _windowLabel = SearchPatch & SearchPatch_actionOverride = % 2Fportlets % 2Fpatchupdate % 2FfindPatch & _pageLabel = s3portal_pages_downloadPatch_page and then

Then through the upgrade utility I have download th epackage and he tries to extract it and after that he tries to validate the file I get the message error 'cannot read metadata upgrade, did not file c:\documents years administrator settings\temp\fy4h1235k\metadata.xml.

If I look in this folder the metadata.xml file is not there so it seems to be not properly extract or the source file is incorrect.

Any ideas on how I can move forward are greatly appreciated.

Glad to know that the problem is solved.

    Thank you

  • Consolidated patches

    Hi guys

I recently asked the 3 patches necessary to allow the patch Wizard work.  I then ran to see what patches are required to update my system.  He sent 570 patches!

Are there any consolidated patches/service packs can I apply to put the system up to date, or do I have to install all the 570 patches individually?

Are there any consolidated patches/service packs can I apply to put the system up to date, or do I have to install all the 570 patches individually?

If the following docs/links give the same result, so I think that the answer is Yes, you must download the patches and apply them individually (or as a merged patch if possible).

  • The patch of Weblogic 12.1.2 is conflict, what should I use?

    Hi all

I try to patch the weblogic 12.1.2 with patch 17577626 and 17753313 number. The OPatch told me that

Patch [17577626] conflict with patches [17205459] in the Oracle home.

Patch [17753313] conflict with patches [16814982] in the Oracle home.

Could you please help to advise that one should I apply as a patch?

    Hello

Classes in the two patches above come into conflict with the existing patches in your WLS 12.1.2 environment.

To resolve this conflict, you must apply the patches of fusion. Please open a SR with Oracle (WLS - Jtech) teams to provide patches of the fusion.

18388554 and 18400310 are the two merging patches you need. But if there is more conflict, a technical support engineer can help you.

    Thank you

    Prereq call "checkconflictagainstohwithdetail".

ZOP-40: patches has conflicts with other patches installed in the home of Oracle (or) between them.

    PREREQ 'checkConflictAgainstOHWithDetail' failed.

Summary of the analysis of conflicts:

There are no patches that can be applied now.

Following hotfixes present conflicts. Please contact the Oracle Support and get the merged patch from the patches:
    13004894, 17540582, 12942119

After the patches will be cancelled at Oracle on the application of patches in the given list:
    13004894, 12942119

    Conflicts/Supersets for each patch are:

    Patch: 17540582

    Conflict with 13004894
    Details of the conflict:
    /app/Oracle/ebspatch/DB/tech_st/11.2.0/lib/libserver11.a:/QKE.o

    Conflict with 12942119
    Details of the conflict:
    /app/Oracle/ebspatch/DB/tech_st/11.2.0/lib/libserver11.a:/qksbg.o

    OPatch succeeded.

So I did some reading but is not yet sure what to do here. Make:
-Download new patches, 13004894 and 12942119 which are available for 11.2.0.3.9?
    -roll back, 13004894 and 12942119
    -install 11.2.0.3.9 17540582 PSU
-apply the recent patches 13004894 and 12942119?

13004894 patch and Patch 12942119 are NOT included in the Patch 17540582 so what you need to do is:

-Restoration 13004894 Patch and Patch 12942119

    -Apply the Patch 17540582

-Apply the 13004894 Patch and Patch 12942119 (11.2.0.3.9)

Updates of game patches for 11.2.0.3 - Patch (Doc ID 1592104.1) ad hoc conflict resolution

    Thank you

    Hussein

The patch two above are NOT included in the Patch PSU, so they should be applied after the application of the PSU

  • patching in ebs r12 on linux

    Hi all

I m a beginner and I m going to apply a patch for the first time on the server.i know that we can apply a patch using ad [patch utility in r12 but I heard that before applying a patch, we should take the backup so that we can roll back my question what backup I take, I want to say oracle backup all associated directories at the OS level? your help appreciated thanks in advance.]

In fact the one of depends on update the hotfix you want to apply.

say for example, if you want to apply the data patch difficulty then you must take the back up tables which will affect (to read the patch read me carefully)

If its standalone patch, so you must check what are all the files that will affect those you have to take the back and apply so if anythings wrong you can substitute it.

  • apply the patches of several products

    Hi gurus.

I have an SR open the framework of this call, but its been almost 2 weeks and several calls of "escaclation" and still nothing from them...

I must apply a number of patches in a range of products. Some of these products are 'shared', as in they need to be patched because they are dependencies on other installed products "full."

What is the best way to apply these in the shortest amount of time?

I'd like to just their bundle all in a merger and press the apply... but I'm afraid that this is going to work.

They I think about it is to run each corrective product group in separately... This will take a long time as I have about 8 different prodcuts to patch for.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    DA.

    11.5.10.2

    11.2.03

    ANY 5.5

Thanks for that - do happen to know if merge fails in the merge process tries to merge a patch that updates the announcement / DNF top? If so, then fine

-I don't want to just fall to half way through the application of patches.

So you should know at this time and before applying the patch merged, it will fail in the fusion process.

Also, if I use the merge, options usable with adpatch follows? options adpatch = nocompiledb, nomaintainmrc

Yes you can, a merged patch is like any other patch that can be applied using adpatch - AD Options from command line for the version R12 (Doc ID 1078973.1)

    Thank you

  • Procedure of patching ESXi 4

    Hi all

Question about patching: I just ran the update utility host, which indicates that there are some patches available for my guests - should I suspend guests and put the hosts in maintenance mode before to patch?  In addition, these hosts are 4.0 - is update patch utility knocking the hosts to 4.1 or who is a quite different update process?

    Thank you very much.

You can see all the methods of upgrade in http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_upgrade_guide.pdf

the easy way is to download the patch to upgrade from ESXi4.0 to ESXi4.1 update 1 to

    http://downloads.VMware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_hypervisor_esxi/4

put the server in maintenance mode and run this patch via ssh.

esxupdate - bundle = PATCH. Update ZIP

Please, do not forget the points of call of the "useful" or "correct" answers

  • query by applying the 9654987 patch

    I have a 11.1.0.7 instance RAC running on a 64-bit Linux environment!
I am applying the patch 9654987 . But while checking prerequisit (CheckConflictAgainstOHWithDetail), I get the below output.
Could someone please review the below output. I think, we cannot apply the patch due to a merge conflict and we must ask Oracle for a stamp of fusion. is it not?
Or is it will remove/restore all the conflicting patches and allow me to apply this new patch 9654987 ?

-He will invite me to restore all these fixes when I run a command 'opatch apply?

Yes, it will give an option with if you want to proceed with the installation

-l' used it allows me to go away until and unless I get an amalgamation patch/remove these hotfixes manually?

No it will allow you to move forward. You can install the overlay patches after you got their Oracle for this power supply

I also checked the conflict patch 8635272 is available for 11.1.0.7.4 on your platform, while the other 2 conflicts are not available. I suggest you to raise a SR with Oracle's Support so that he can ask the overlay for other patches 2 conflicts
