Methodlogy patch redhat

Hello

I would like to ask you a few tips about the Redhat patch method.

I have read the documentation concerning the correction and it says that to patch Redhat, you need a host of Redhat to serve repo content. Can I just use a virtual machine rather than act as a repo?

I use VCM 5.7.1 patch Redhat 6, there is no internet access.

Hello

In order to patch to work, here are the things needed to be done:

1. you should have an account with RHN (RedHat Network). Our product use this account to download the patches.

2. as you said, any RedHat VM can also serve the repository machine. You just need to have a SCR 5.0 (Content Repository software) unzipped in a directory (/ root).

3. you need Internet access to connect to the RHN.

Thank you

Shiva

  • VMware ESX patches vs RedHat patches

    Hello world

Whenever a security problem on RedHat or additional components, our challenge of the security team to install the patch on our ESX servers. Last wishes are on OpenSSH and Sudo.
Whenever we respond that we install only VMware updates and patches on the ESX servers, like ESX are built using a "highly modified" RedHat kernel
However, it is more difficult to convince them.

Y at - there somewhere an official document from VMware, saying that we MUST not install patches not provided by VMware? The best is still a document saying that VMware will not support the ESX servers on which an external patch were installed.

I searched, but as English is not my native language (I'm french), I probably did not use the correct keywords.

  • need advice on PSU 11.2.0.2 patch version db

    We have oracle database specifications:

    DB version: 11.2.0.2
    OS: Redhat Linux 5

Our management wants us to apply the latest patches of power supply.

I think 11.2.0.2 is the latest version of 11.2, and I have the patch to upgrade to 11.2.0.3 then apply latest patch PSU.

I am here? The steps and procedures I should follow?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes 11.2.0.3 is the latest version - 11.2.0.3 go 11.2.0.2 is an upgrade, not a patch.

You will need to install 11.2.0.3 in another ORACLE_HOME, apply the latest patch of power supply to the 11.2.0.3 HOME (see this Doc MOS - quick reference to Patch numbers for power SUPPLY of database, SPU (CPU), Bundle Patches and Patchsets [1454618.1 ID]), then follow the steps in the upgrade doc

  • apply patch

    Hi all

I 10.2.0.2 DBs run on conf Dataguard on redhat. I must apply patch 5458753 DBs. I read the Readme, but there are 2 ' Instructions of Installation of Patch ' and ' special Patch Instructions ' section

1 - What is the difference between these sections?
    2 - I know,
    (a) stop the observation process to disable fast switching
    (b) waiting for shutdown DB
    (c) stop DB primary
    (d) unzip the fix on Standby DB and change to this directory. "cd 5458753" and then run command "opatch apply.
    (e) unzip the primary fix on DB and change to this directory. "cd 5458753" and then run command "opatch apply.
    (f) primary DB startup
    (g) startup mount standby DB
    (h) to start the process of observation
    (i) check the status of the DG.
    (j) apply status with the command «opatch lsinventory» check patch and I have the ability to roll back this appy patch with '"cd 5458753 then' opatch rollback-id 5458753"

This way is correct? did I miss smth? or ideas would be appreciated...

    Thank you.

as you know my patch isn't a patch of cpu and I have 10g DB.
I think my way is correct according to your link, right?
can I use my steps to apply this patch?

Yes you can follow the same steps.

I just downloaded and installed oracle 11.2.0.2 on redhat linux 64-bit. (With asm grid infrastructure)

10248523 is the same as 11.2.0.2.1 :-) See the README file for the patch of the pl

PL be aware that when you apply a fix PSU (that it is), you will need to continue to apply the power supply fixes as soon as they are available quarterly.

This message appears when your operating system does not meet the basic requirements (type of OS and version).
This post was question on RHEL 5 when you installed versions (i.e.: 10.2.0.1) published earlier than RHEL 5.
Help - IgnoreSysPreReqs will work around this message but as a consequence he ignores other controls (like the validation of the parameters of the core OS, OS limits settings and presence of required packages). If you are sure that everything is as it should be then it would not be a problem but it's certainly better to investigate or open a SR Oracle Support session, why this message.

How do you want to run the program YES btw?

So for no luck on metalink/otn/google... Any suggestions?

Have you tried to run mdsum check on the zip file to ensure that it is not corrupt? Have tried to re - download the patch (using a different computer than the first time you downloaded) to see if you get a different result when installing?

  • installation of the application 10g (10.1.2) on RedHat 5 Server

Hi, I read a lot on the site of Oracle on RedHat 5 is now certified on server applications recently (in April).

My question is: what steps do you need to install application server 10.1.2? Install the 10.1.2 not certified version first and then install the patch? I use a Redhat 5 server install on and I get errors during installation (regarding the missing operating system packages so I had to do some kernel parameter changes) when I install 10.1.2 application server on Redhat 5. But after that I started to read the documentation further, I realized that the RedHat 5 has not been certified for this version of the application server. But later I saw on April 15 that the status has changed.

So I was wondering if anyone knew the steps I need to do in order. If anyone knows a document out there, it's still better.

Thank you! If I don't get all the answers, I'll just check Metalink. I am documenting what I pass by these installs with screenshots I have go through it. I just want to know what to expect.

Oracle Application Server 10 g 2 (v10.1.2) is certified on RHEL5. Refer following matrix certification for more details:
    http://www.Oracle.com/technology/software/products/IAS/files/as_certification_r2_101202.html

And see this note on MetaLink for details and requirements to install it:

ID: 564174,1 Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Requirements for Linux: OEL 5 and RHEL 5

    Thank you

  • The compass is out of 90 degrees. Is there a software patch or calibration for this?

The compass is out of 90 degrees. Is there a software patch or calibration for this?

See section reset or disable location Services of privacy and location in 8 and later - Apple iOS Support Services. Back to zero must recalibrate the compass.

  • Will iPad 3rd Gen continue to get patches

I know that this is never going iOS 10, but Apple will release patches security and bug fixes to older iOS devices?  I know they did for old OS X systems for some time.

Will be continue them to be fixes for iOS devices that cannot handle iOS 10?

    (IPad device 3)

We end users like you, so we have no special knowledge of what Apple will or will not do. Like you, I know that they have published updates of security for older OSX versions several steps back, but we will have to wait and see. I'm in the same boat. I have an iPad 2 which works very well with iOS9 but I don't use it enough to justify the upgrade to a newer model that runs iOS 10.
