Monitor progress of deployment of WSUS

Hello, we just started to use the new wsus 3.0 for a month now and we will have a problem.

We have different groups of servers (windows server 2000, 2003, 2008) and a group of workstations (windows xp).

We want to update our work stations every weekend so we want that synchronize wsus to synchronize automatically with microsoft for new updates.

And we update our servers in a 6 week period.

When we update our servers, we want to see the status of the servers changing 0 updates that need, but each time new updates are in sync with microsoft it come new updates to the status of the servers with the necessary status, so we have not a clear vision of the status of our servers.

The solution that we currently use is to stop synchronizing between wsus 3.0 and microsoft, so we don't have a new need updates of our servers at the time of our update period 6weeks. The disadvantage of this solution is that our jobs will not be able to get new updates for a period of 6 weeks.

Our question is what someone else has the same problem and have a better solution for this?

Best regards

Fabian

Hey Fabian,.

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Vista answers Forums.

The question you have posted is related to the servers and would be better suited in the Windows Vista TechNet forum
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/aa904820.aspx

I also recommend checking the Windows XP-specific resources:

http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups.mspx

Kind regards

    I have 2012 production WSUS server in our environment. We deploy the wsus Server security patches, but there is a host that does not patch Server wsus rather take the patches from the Microsoft site directly. Can someone help me with this.

    This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

  • Newbie: control the automatic progression

    I'm new to Captivate 9 and I'm trying to come to terms with the reading head automatically progresses.

    The course that I build a custom navigation and therefore I hid the standard playback bar.

    I need to progress to the next slide occurs only when the user clicks on my next button (which becomes active at the end of the slide).

    I have install interaction when the user is required to select / click 4 items on the slide after which progresses the playhead at the end of the cursor. I have advanced configuration action that causes the playhead to continue after the 4 elements have been selected.

    It seems to work until such time as the user interacts with another element on the slide, and then the playhead progresses to the next slide. Use any standard action that I specifically don't let the slide to progress.

    So I have 2 questions. First of all, how can I monitor progress of playhead constantly? Secondly, where are the pieces of online tutorial for the user to get a better understanding of captivate 9?

    One of the main features of Captivate you have to do enter with is the timeline, which is (very sad decision) hidden in the Newbie UI. I write an article once on the timeline, but should be updated because delays in effects are not integrated in the main timeline. In any case, perhaps you could find some ideas: small timeline Tidbits - Captivate blog

    I'm sorry I can't direct you to a most recent tutorial, because until now I never found this well explained in any book or training calendar. When I supervise a training I always spend at least half a day trying to explain the chronology and the way in which it allows interactions.

    It would be better if you posted a screenshot of the chronology of this slide. Here's some advice for your use case:

    • I'd do the next invisible button until all elements are clicked. This means a tip two-decision action conditional to trigger the event of success of 'clickable' things (I don't know if you are using a form button, a normal button or click box). The workflow has been postponed several times here, but I don't mind to repeat once if you wish.
    • Remember that all clickable objects take a break right now. You can check that in the timeline panel (look for the hanging next to the thin vertical line that is the break itself) or in the synchronization properties.

    If you have an advanced action or shared, triggered by clickable objects, you don't have to worry about the playhead progresses automatically. Now you have the chance to start with CP9: for action 'simple' (from the drop-down list in the Actions tab) is not the case, you will need to uncheck the option "continue playing project." In previous versions, this option was not available and you need to replace the simple action by a standard action to avoid the progression of the PlayBar. Take a look on:

    Why choose Standard Simple action? -Captivate Blog

  • SS3 deployment problem

    I try to install ES3 and ES3 SP2 (this is a new installation).

    When I run "Deployment of LiveCycle ES3 components" of jar files fail to deploy. Here are excerpts from newspapers access.log, the server log and the log configuration manager.

    The main highlights:

    • The server log: locking of account on behalf of _lc_saml_login_
    • Journal of Configuration Manager: 401 Unauthorized error
    • Access.log: 401 errors abound

    Any help will be appreciated. I am also opening a ticket with Adobe support and will make back here if I find out any information.

    Thank you!

    This page contains three applets.  When I just a cmdlet, it seems to work without error.

    Interestingly, when I go to the page with three applets, it will load occasionally.  So it seems that if I load the page with three applets on it of in the applet in the page simple applet, three applets fails.  If I load the page with three applets on it directly, it loads OK.

    Thank you.

    With the help of first class at Oracle, this problem was identified and resolved.

    It was not a problem of Java, but the error to the user.

    Our web application connects to Java Plug - in System Properties (i.e., System.getProperties ();) to a server log at sign to help diagnose problems with plugin java browser.  The applet sign - we send them down to the server.  Before sending them down, it was a copy of the system properties and then removing two of the properties: "line.separator" and "line.separator.applet".  Why do we remove them?  Simply to avoid an unwanted line break appear in the server log file.

    Well, what was supposed to be a copy of the system properties was actually a reference to the system properties.  Then when we removed these two properties, the CharacterEncoder has failed because it relies on the property system being present and pure "line.separator".

    To make a long story short, we were pulling the rug under the JVM itself, rewriting of the vital system property values.

    Our sign on the applet has done this for years.  Somehow we got away with it until version 1.8.0_40 - b25.

  • Problems with fractional alarm levels

    Hello

    We use LV8.6 with module DSC under XP Pro.

    I am building an application that needs to configure/monitor alarms on deployed locally variable shared double digital.

    I don't seem to be able to define levels of fractional alarm through in Distributed System Manager or Project Explorer. For example, I'm trying to set the alarm HI_HI to 1.50 level. What I see, is that the values change when I get it, but it gets rounded up to the nearest whole number if I open properties for this variable shared once more (or property node allows you to read).

    If I use the node property to set the levels I am able to get fractional values. There is a problem with automatic receipt of the alarm in this case, although (the alarm do not auto-reconnu when the value of the variable returned to non-alarme interval).

    I would appreciate comments on the issues that I am experiencing.

    Thank you in advance!

    Far below the level of the alarm you have tried going?  In LabVIEW 2009 at least, there is a dead zone which can be defined for each alarm.  By default, the dead zone is 1, which means that you must pass at least one point below the alarm so that it auto-reconnaître.  Herea good help file that explains exactly how it works.  In short, if you want to auto-reconnaître when the value is less exactly the alarm level, then you have a dead zone of 0.  I hope this helps.

  • try to get the Boot Disk Defragmenter.

    I begin of choice of tools system Disc Defrag regularly or to administer mode get User Account Control nothings happens.  I tried my right click computer properties, tools, defragment and once again nothing. Family Vista premium, all updates are current and all drivers are up to date. There is a new recall defrag was working fine before the update of windows. Updated driver occurred after problems to start defragmentation.

    Windows disk defragmentation must be performed by calendar. You shouldn't have to run it manually, not to mention that it takes forever to complete if you run manually.
    Once fixed, the Windows Disk Defragmenter is designed to run silently in full. You won't see her progress.
    Here is a tutorial to show how your disk defrag schedule.

    If you're dead set to run manually and monitor progress, I recommend Augslogics.
    It allows you to decide which drive to defragment.
    It shows you the process, "play by play".
    It gives you a summary report.

  • Evaluator check boxes on several pages

    I am working on a form that is used to monitor progress towards the realization of the tasks for the qualifications for a specific task.  It has been used for years as a normal pen and paper version, but I take to complete totally electronically with digital signatures.

    I use Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and converted at the origin of a form of MS Word and then delete the extra fields, added those who was required to do this is so they can simply check the items on the pages of the evaluator.

    I created a series of check boxes on each of the three pages of evaluator, as most people cannot get all accomplished under an evaluator.  The boxes already have a JavaScript using an if/else statement that complements the tasks sign compromise with information from the evaluator, but I want to lock the boxes on the second and third evaluator when the first check and then digitally signs the first record of the evaluator.  I tried to use the show/hide feature, by hiding the checkbox on the 2nd and 3rd page (and 3rd page of 2), but when I test as an evaluator who made a mistake and then uncheck the box on the 1st assessor record, the 2nd and 3rd pages check boxes are still hidden.  I then tried to add readonly status in the If/Else JS, but I get a syntax error in the changing Else part rear single reading to false.

    So, how can I use what is already built with the show/hide, but when they uncheck, it cancels the "hide" or I need help, correction of the syntax in the following script.

    If (event.target.value! = "Off") this.getField("Check_Box1-1").readonly = true, this.getField("Check_Box1").readonly = true

    else this.getField("Check_Box1-1").readonly = false this.getField("Check_Box1").readonly = false;

    I'm not a programmer now, but not the Fortran and COBOL back in the 1980s, then to understand the basics, but do not understand my syntax error in the statement.

    «"«You are almost there...»»» A comma is not a valid JS line end character. A semicolon is. And please make sure that you use only standard double - quote, not one of those 'fantasy', for your code to work. It might be a good idea to read a tutorial on the core JS syntax, like this: http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp

    Here is a corrected version of your code:

    if (event.target.value!="Off") {
        this.getField("Check Box1-1").readonly = true;
        this.getField("Check Box1").readonly = true;
    } else {
        this.getField("Check Box1-1").readonly = false;
        this.getField("Check Box1").readonly = false;

    Only works live Exec. Apart from that, I'm not able to see the chart or any value of metric data.

    I get a message like

    Also availability appears gray [resource-> Browse].

    I have already synced between vitesse1 and System2.

    In Hyperic agent.log, I get the following error will print continuously.

    Hyperic server don't 5.8.2 supports monitoring of agents deployed with Hyperic Agent 4.2.0.7?

    or am I wrong somewhere?

    Thank you

    Sree

    This is not a supported configuration. The agent must be at least 5.0. 4.6 and up will work also with certain limitations. I highly recommend that upgrade you the agent to 5.8.2.

  • Metal nu supply - failure to 'BONES to prepare for the installation of network.

    Hi all

    We have successfully up to 12 c, registered a management of LMOS server - but I would now get the bare metal, provision of work.

    Company > Provisioning & patching > Bare Metal Provisioning > Infrastructure tab, we have implemented the server of the scene, DHCP server, boot server & deposit RPM - all (according to us!) properly.

    The server RPM in a box of OEL 5 on LSN and defined as server YUM, subscription channels OEL5 & LMO. These were then downloaded into/var/www/yum by YUM script. We can browse the repo on HTTP - everything looks OK.

    Under the tab "Mutations", we then available to a LMO server, fill in all the necessary fields, nothing special. We check the boxes to perform the prerequisite check on stage and boot servers - these pass.

    That we completed, submit work and to monitor progress - go us beyond "activities preliminary staging.

    However, the job fails to 'run OS Staging Directive"- specifically the task of"Preparing the OS for network installation".

    The log file shows the following error: that we are mistaken:

    Our basic URL yum repository has been defined as http://yum.yumserver.local/yum/OracleVM/OVM3/3.0.2/base/x86_64 on the Infrastructure tab - that we think is correct?

    We can connect to the fine BASE URL at the same time the Enterprise Manager server and staging server.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Jeff,

    I listed down an example of configuration to the tftp Protocol & dhcp server as well as the values of flow that we expect in the infrastructure tab:

    TFTP root directory (in etc/xinetd.d/tftp): / tftpboot
    Input file name in the dhcp file (/ etc/dhcpd.conf): "linux-install/pxelinux.0".
    located pxelinux.0 to the: / tftpboot/linux-install

    Values of infrastructure tab:
    Startup directory: / tftpboot/linux-install
    file DHCP: /etc/dhcpd.conf

    Thank you

  • Possible bug in Adminstrator - Verity Collections page

    Spin 7.0.2 Enterprise on Win2k using J2EE (Jrun updater6) and worked on a cf5, cfmx migration. Had to remove all of the migrated collections and rebuild and re-index all, no big deal. Since this is done programmatically, I sometimes took a glance on the page of Verity in the CF administrator to monitor progress. We have more than 200 collections index ~ 75 000 files on the server. Once completed, started indexing to test the search on the site and everything worked as expected.

    BUT, when checking the verity Admin page, I can't get a list of collections. Last view was about 90 collections showing (estimate). Get the "failed to retrieve collections from the Search Service.
    Make sure that the ColdFusion MX search server is installed and running. »

    I know that it is running, because the search works and I can add a doc to a folder and re - index and it is picked up. Is there a limit to how many collections can be displayed to the administrator.

    And on the same note, this code < cfcollection action = "LIST" name = "allcoll" > will throw a timeout error
    "" com.verity.api.administration.ConfigurationException: java.io.IOException: read expiré ".
    what he has not done with less than 50 collections.

    Then, when you delete collections (with the help of a cfdirectory to get the directory names, because I can't list them) I get this error

    "The collection you specified does not exist or is not registered with the ColdFusion Search Service." Small I know is wrong because I can search against it...

    I'm pretty confident that the problem is related to the number of collections, I registered, but since I can't delete them, I'm kinda stuck.

    OK, so it's not a bug. This is it, it's that verity on CF7 can enumerate collections that have been migrated from CF5. Once I re-created them, everything works fine. Their removal was hard hard. I had to move the folders with info collection out of their location, then move them to 10 at a time and perform a = cfcollection action list and loop through the cfcollection action = deletion of routine in order to empty them. Once this has been done and I've recreated and re-indexed, everything is happy now.
