More Ram = better performace?

I thought I'd get some more RAM, but I don't know if this can help unless you hit the limits of what you have... wasn't sure if having many a head room was an advantage at all...

    Hello

I'm certinaly not an engineer who can comment on how applications are written and how can hearts of processor they can write effectly, but there has been a lot of comments to the Mac Pro (new), and to answer your question, based on what I read, there were comments that the 8 basic model is good for video editing - not too , nor too little.

Being an editor, I'd always put my money to get the best graphics cards and the largest amount of RAM that you can afford.  For work, we've been specing on new models and it was the 'formula' we follow.  With the exception of the RAM, sounds like once you buy, your clerks to the material with the new machines.

  • Equium A100-303: looking to add more RAM

    Hello

I recently bought a laptop equium A100-303 and am lookin to add more RAM. I was just wondering if it should be buffered or non-buffered or is it important?

I currently have 1 GB of ram (512 + 512 MB as it is a dual core processor) and I'm looking to move to 2 GB (1024 + 1024). I know that the guy is PC4200, 200 pin SODIMM.

Also where would be the cheepest place to buy these? Thank you.

    Hello

    > just wondering if it should be buffered or non-buffered or is it important

Well, Toshiba has recommended using own memory as PA3411U-2M1G modules, but I put t find any information if the module supports ECC (means stored stamped) or Non - ECC (means not stamped)
To my knowledge, the buffer ECC is about 30% slower than Non - ECC modules.

He name of your choice what you will buy, but I would recommend purchasing a brand s module.
I know modules without name are cheaper brand modules are much faster and performance, but the quality is better in the form of modules without name.

So googel a bit and you will find many offers online. Simply compare prices

  • How can I require more RAM to my graphics card?

I'm pretty sure that this question is thrown around a lot, but I can't really find an answer that helps my situation.
So, I have a HP Pavilion p6-2480ea and I have 6 GB of RAM, but only 32 MB of this is dedicated to my graphics card. So I was wondering if I could dedicate more RAM for my video card? I have an Intel integrated graphics card, so I don't know about if it will hinder me.

    Thank you.

Normally this parameter is in the BIOS on a desktop computer.  Now remember that the OEM motherboards have luxury may not allow the user to this area of the settings.  Check that setting (award shared with the integrated video graphics card memory) if there is no box for this setting, it might be a better option to add a video card to the system.

  • Initial size (MB) and maximum (MB) size should I use to add more RAM to my memory?

I followed the instructions on a video on how to add more RAM to your computer without taking it apart.

I followed all the steps up until I came to the part in the dialog 'virtual memory '.  Where it says, 'custom size' you have to put the ' initial size (MB) and the ' size maximum (MB).  How do I know what size to put in this area?

I looked up my information on my computer:

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

    Memory: 1.00 GB

    System type: 32-bit

Now, while I was following instructions to add more RAM.

    my computer displays this information:

in the performance option dialog box:

In the tab advanced under virtual memory, it is said:

"page for all readers file size: MB."

In the virtual memory dialog box:

    for the C: drive:

There's the initial size (MB) - white

and (MB) maximum size - White

What should I do in this case?  What would be the initial size and maximum size?

    Hello Palette,

You talk about 'virtual' non-physical memory. There is a difference.

UPN based on the amount of RAM 'physical' you have in your machine the ' virtual RAM should be of approximately 1.5 hour of Aries. You have currently 1 GB of physical RAM Windows allocates already 1.5 GB RAM virtual and, frankly, it is better to let Windows manage the virtual memory file.

If you want to improve then install the physical RAM more. Your guide to computer manufacturers will tell you to what maximum physical RAM, you can install and what type it is. I admit that I have changed the physical RAM to many times so know what I'm doing, but, frankly, it's less of a hassle to change the physical RAM which play with virtual RAM.

RAM memory modules simply slide in and are cut in place. Change the RAM in a desktop computer is easier than a cell phone, but you will get much better results increase the physical RAM that you would changing virtual RAM.

Of course, this is assuming that you need in the first place of the increased RAM. I recently increased my physical RAM of 4 GB to 8 GB and hardly noticed any difference.

I have this Toshiba satellite L505-s5990 with windows 7 32-bit and intel core 2duo t6500 and I think that I cheated, well I don think, I was mistaken, because when I buy first told me it has ddr3 ram and there no, also told me that I could add more RAM, because it might be expandable up to 8 GB of ram, because there just 3 when I bought and which I have now doubt, well, you might wonder why I do not do something like back or something like that, well the reason is that, at the point where I noticed that it was already too late (warranty and return policy) had expired already, I didn't know anything this either on the computers, of course, so now I'm stuck with it and I guess all I can do is upgraded to what I want if possible lol! Well what I want is run several operating systems to achieve I think that my laptop I could run virtualization and I would like to know what equipment I need to upgrade my computer to do and if it supports the upgrade? Wow.  All this without breathing a lot and you do not use Google? * smile * you should really get in GOOGLE.

    You have this laptop:
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/TD/B2C/retail-product.jsp?poid=452314

You can easily get up to 8 GB of memory MATERIAL:
    http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Toshiba-memory/satellite+L505+series/satellite+L505-S5990-upgrades.html

Beyond that - well - what EDITION of Windows 7 do you have?  You have given version (Windows 7) and architecture (32-bit) but not editing (home edition Premium, etc.)

In the end - it won't matter much if Windows 7 32-bit came pre-installed.  Despite the ability of the machine to have 8 GB memory installed and the material see - the 32-bit version of Windows 7 you have is not going to use it somehow.  Somewhere between 3 and 4 GB is the most he'll see/use/give you access to.  It is the nature of the beast.

Also - if it came pre-installed you can just use your product key, download Windows 7 64 bits _ and install - because the OEM for Windows 7 licenses does not work like that.  You bought Windows 7 32-bit OEM and that's all you get.  Sales in the RETAIL of WIndows 7 license would have given you the ability to change as often as you wish between 32-bit and 64-bit.

Where did put you?  Well in my digging around, I'm fairly certain that you pretty much exactly what I linked to the first.  Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit, 3 GB memory, processor 2.1 GHz dual core...  You can probably do a little now - virtualization might need to turn on a few things in the BIOS to really enjoy it - but it would work probably right now.  Take the free VirtualBox there and install the OS you want ot - but you probably will have to be rare on how much memory you give virtual machine (1, maybe 1.5 GB at max.)

If you are looking to improve more...  You will probably need to invest in:

-Windows 7 Professional or edition full 64-bit
-the 8 GB memory referenced above
-a larger and faster disk hard

After that - well, it's a laptop.  Reality of what you can do starting to settle in.  The above improvements would cost you somewhere (from) about 350 USD.  Your Dual Core processor will probably hinder things - how - investment as a whole better system would be wiser.

  • Aurora R3 - more Ram/New graphic card

    Hello!

I bought my R3 in 2011, and it is somehow a necessity of an upgrade. I thought to do more Ram and a new graphics card, because these two can make a difference.

Right now I'm sitting on 4 GB (2x2gb) RAM and a nVidia GeForce GTX460.

As far as RAM goes, I thought about getting at least 8 GB, but as long as it's not too expensive I would love to have 16 GB. I also heard that to have a kit of two is better than only one (i.e. 2x4gb instead of an 8).

Then comes the new graphics. I don't really know what I want here. I'm guessing a GeForce recent would be the best solution, but even then, I'm completely blind here (and I don't know much about computers unfortunately, inside at least).

I hope someone can help me!

For the memory upgrade this system manages up to 16 GB running at 1333, 1600 or 1866 MHz, so my recommendation is to use the same ram frequency and the same size in all the modules.

And on what concerns the video card the more we tested was the Nvidia GTX 590 and on AMD the 6990 we can not assure you if the system will not work properly if you upgrade to any other video card.

  • More Ram in Qosmio X 300 W

    Hello
Howe can insert more Ram of Qosmio x 300 W, I'm on Vista Ultimate 64-bit so I would have 8 GB of Ram.
But I can't know that it is possible where the extra 4 GB Ram should be.

    Hello

Did you check your user manual?
    Isn't it? Do it!

As far as I know these details are always mentioned in the manual of the user who is always pre-installed on the notebook.

I think the banks of memory are placed at the bottom of the unit and you can access it easily.
The slot should be placed close to cooling fans and it s covered by a screw.
Remove it and you should be able to remove the cover of the location too.

In the manual you should also find a detailed how instruction insert new modules from memory. It of not really difficult.

I also found an info that the RAM modules of 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB can be inserted into the two slots.

I hope I could help you!

  • Satellite M70-131 - I want to add more RAM

    Hello

    I have a Satellite M70-131
    Part number: PSM70E-01500RAR

I want to add more RAM, because I know you have to check three points to buy a new:
    -How can I add?
    -The type of RAM?
-The number of the BIOS or BUS?

I'm not sure about the third point, I know that I can add to 2G, and the type of RAM is DDR2.
But if I have the right point, how can I check the number (BIOS or BUS)? Because I tried to add one, but did ' t work!

    Help me please
    Thnx 4 all

    Hello!

The Satellite M70-131 can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM and you have already said you need DDR2 RAM.
Specification for RAM is DDR2 400/533 and you can add two modules with 1 GB of capacity of each module. The reference is PA3411U-1M1G.

What do you mean with many BUS and BIOS? This has nothing to do with an upgrade of RAM.

    Good bye

  • Allocate more RAM for integrated graphics - HP Pavilion 15-n225nr TouchSmart laptop

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15-n225nr Notebook PC, which is optimal for workloads but (A10 2.10 GHz AMD quad-core processor, came with 8 GB of ram and 750 GB HARD drive), however, recently tried to make a few games but this laptop has an intgrated GPU. I read that the upgrade of RAM will do not much but I ordered a second card of 8 GB of ram, because I want to increase the framerate by every single FPS I can ge and I'm coming soon, so I'll have 16 GB of RAM and the fact he'll be dual channel is a more. I have also read that by upgrading the RAM you can upgrade the amount of ram used by your integrated gpu because there will be more RAM available for use. I don't know if by upgradinng the RAM VRAM happen automatically or if I'll be able to do it manually, I read that you can do it via the BIOS, I don't know for shure if possible.

So, is it possible to increase the fraction of my RAM than my integrated graphics card uses?, if yes, how?

If it is not possible to what can do to increase my FPS on the game?, because I can't change a dedicated GPU because it's a laptop.

Thanks in advance for any help.

According to the specifications of your computer, to graph total 4195 MB memory is the maximum that can be used. Regardless of the amount of dedicated, is all that can be used as memory dedicated. As a general rule, Windows controls the amount of memory used by the video card. This means that you will not be able to change the settings in the BIOS that will change this option. This isn't a computer class in the game and you expect too much of him.

The best thing to do is to run the crucial memory free analysis tool, who will report what type and how much memory you can install on your laptop.

Since I live in the United States, I will not be able to help you memory source or prices in Greece.

  • SL500 and I want to add more RAM

    Howdy.

I have a new Thinkpad SL500, such as here: http://www.hemini.com/products/product_details.aspx?prodid=425737&cp=1&sc=1&sct=

It has an Intel Core 2 Duo (T6670) 2.2 GHz processor and 2048 MB of RAM.

I want to add more RAM to make it even more effective that I use a lot of programs, sometimes at the same time.

I wish it have 4 GB, and what I understand is the maximum that it is supposed to be able to handle.

Then what should I do? I buy a 4 GB of RAM and remove the 2 GB that I have now and install the 4 GB one?

Or should I leave the 2 GB RAM inside and just buy a 2 GB of RAM and add together inside?

In addition, the brand has a role? Wouldn't be brand of Lenovo? What other groups are good for RAM?

They are all the other things I have to consider buying RAM. ?

    Thank you very much.

If you use 32 bit os I works perfectly with 4 GB but system uses 3 GB. Add the next module that means you probably have 2 GB module inserted. You can simply put another beside it mounted origin. Check with everest, aida, cpu - z or any other things how many modules is placed on your motherboard and you have free banks.
