Motherboard of Dell Studio 1745 Upgrade...?

OK, so I have a Dell Studio 1745 complete with Intel Graphics Decelerator and T6600 Core 2 Duo CPU

Of all my research, the 1747 and 1749 the motherboards are "physically identical" in what concerns the shape/size, and whether or not it will physically fit in the body of the laptop.

Now, I bought by mistake the SLBTV - Intel Core i5 - 540M 2.53 GHz/3 M PGA988/BGA1288 Mobile CPU processor thinking that it would work, having missed the 988 vs 478 on my 'Socket P '. Yes, the PET brain, but it is 4:00 and I'm tired!

Okay, so now that I've made this mistake, my research told me that the motherboard 0W87G9 W87G9 THE - 5155P of the 1749 'fit' in my system and work with the processor I bought. (I'm just on this?)

If so, logic tells me that my CPU/GPU heatsink would need to be replaced?

I looked and it seems that the fan is almost universal, but it seems that I need the following heat sinks:

G406T heatsink GPU
D636T CPU radiator

Does anyone know if I'm wrong on this as well?

(The only problem I see is not have touches of heat transfer, but I think I can wing which)

Now assuming I'm wrong on these 3 parts and rebuild my system with them...

Anyone know if there is anything else I need to do in order to make this compatible configuration?

I know to change the motherboard will panic MS as much as my Windows OEM, but I plan on upgrading to 8 and looking for a cheap to replace touch screen mine where I can find one?

So far, this laptop seemed fairly extensible and interchangeable parts.

Anyone know if I'm heading in the right direction or if I'm about to of Wile E Coyote myself in a brick wall?

The only way to replace the graphics card is to replace the motherboard. My project has been a success, here are the basics for her.

It will replace a few other small parts like heat from the processor synchronization and the addition of the synchronization of heat from the gpu to the Régie that you install. You will also need thermal pads for them so keep that in mind and have them ready when you are installing (composed as Arctic Silver won't be thick enough to fill the contacts). Also, it will almost certainly replace the processor. Check which processors work with the Board of Directors that you get and if yours is compatible. If you're going to 1749 as I did, your will not, but the new processor was not expensive. I don't remember whether or not they were the same at the 1747.

The best thing I can say is go to "thepartspeople" which basically sell dell parts. You can put in your model laptop (1745) and then put in the motherboard as a part you want to replace. When you select the motherboard for the 1747 and 1749 it will tell you all the other parts you need to replace and whether or not they are in stock.

If they do not have the parts in stock that you need, use the places of numbers and research of party like amazon, ebay, etc., of a place where you can buy a replacement work (I could find just enough cheap also). It's a bit of work, but in the end, it is very useful. If you're sufficiently savvy and determined than enough I myself built what would be a $1200-$1600 laptop + dollar market for long for like half the price. Using this method, I added touch screen, several operating systems and backlit keyboard of hard drives, blue-tooth, upgrade wifi, work on the top processor i5 and 5650 1 GB graphics card. I am fully satisfied with how it turned out.

Free advice, however, if you have a webcam or a camcorder and decide to do this project yourself (the laptop) of narrow band take it apart and do it very slowly. This way if you are lost during reassembly you can listen to the recording back and watch how back together.

For the record, here are my current characteristics of the 1745 with that I started:

Motherboard: Dell Studio 1749

Processor: Intel Core i5 - 540 M 2.53 GHz/3 m

17.3 "touch screen (touch 2 points)

8 GB ram DDR3

2 x 1 TB of disk hard w / combo 8 GB SSD. (I run Win 7 and Ubuntu)

It has Bluetooth, Wireless N and a backlit keyboard.

I tried to use the Mini-PCI-E port as an SSD, but find the port type, there was not compatible with any of them I'd be interested in using. This proved more headaches that it was ultimately so I got a TV Tuner and put that in there. It is convenient when I'm in a hotel to use as a monitor for a game like the xbox a console.

Put the touch screen was another easy change, but it took to get the Ribbon of the connector (like a couple of bucks) and a new cover. You must make sure that it is the thickest, but he did well enough in a new laptop.

The only thing that I don't know about today is the cost and speed of the ram. When I did I have 8 GB of PC8500 really cheap and it works very well. I don't know if the higher clock speeds are working with her because I've capped on the motherboard for ram, and I know ram more expensive now.

At the time I did this search for an opportunity 1749 I found one that was not nearly as upgraded like mine, and it's over $ 1300 used was a very profitable project and I had fun doing it. I learned so much about the interchangeability of parts dell of this project that I now only buy computers dell laptops. I found that to try a similar project with HP, I bought my wife to be almost impossible. The difference is with thepartspeople you can easily find the parts you need and what is needed to update/change their. There is no help, as with all other brands of laptop I found and HP's not even sell you parts so you are stuck guessing and buy everything used. Not funny! If you are unsure, you can actually call thepartspeople and ask them about upgrades and they're going to double check the requirements of the part for you. They are awesome and alone brought me as a customer to dell for a long time.

I'm trying to pair a speaker with my Dell Studio 1745 laptop PC series bose soundlink wireless, but could not find the Bluetooth software on my computer

    Hi Michael,

Windows operating system is installed on the computer?

There is usually a switch of Bluetooth on the side or the front of your laptop that you can click. If you don't have it, but you have a Bluetooth keyboard button then click on the button Fn 'function' and then press the keyboard Bluetooth.
On a Dell Studio laptop, there is a LED above the keyboard for Bluetooth connectivity.

On the left side, there is a switch to turn without wireless/Bluetooth connectivity. Make sure that the switch is turned on. You can also see a Bluetooth icon in the taskbar (lower right corner on the taskbar near the time display). Double click on this icon will open the Bluetooth Setup application. Using this application you can connect various Bluetooth devices.

  • Dell Studio 540 no speakers or headphones Sound - win 10

My Dell Studio 540 lost out to attached speakers.  I can't tell if the problem is caused by the upgrade to win 10 or if I experienced a motherboard failure a coincidence.  I tried a number of bugs that include uininstalling pilots, roll back drivers and even install Vista drivers original I have original system disks.  Nothing works.

I see, looking at the acoustic, Panel output HDMI seems to work because I can see where it says sound when playing music.  However, I can't the speakers or headphones of entry to work.  Even if I try the speaker plugs into one of the entrances, the acoustic Panel still shows the headphones or speakers are not connected.

So, how can I get the systΦme can recognize that speakers have been connected?  Is there another driver I can use.  So far, I've tried several driver Realtek and configurations, does not

Apologies for the lack of your post. The Studio 540 has never been validated for Windows 10.

My advice is to disable the Realtek HD audio integrated into Bios - Advanced - Integrated Peripherals. Then install a current PCIe x 1 sound card in a PCIe x 1 on the motherboard slots. His current card will provide 10 Windows drivers.

    Hello

I have the Dell studio 1558. It was working fine but now I have problems with the audio. No Audio is not heard from struggling speaker or headset. I tried to reinstall the driver IDT, but it isn't either installation. Help, please.

Hello. I apologize for the delay in answering your question.

Had tried and failed to install the Creative Labs software? A failure will cause the audio to fail.

If not this, then it could be faulty hardware. Run the audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests if you still have this tool on your hard disk. If you do not hear the sound during tests of the hardware on the motherboard failed. In this case, you can get a Jack audio usb to use it as a workaround.

If you no longer have the 32-bit Dell hard disk Diagnostics, you can download it from the Studio 1558 support page (under Diagnostics) and run it on a dvd or usb flash drive... See the instructions here for the Assembly of the diagnostics on a dvd or a flash drive.

The alternative to audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests run is to perform a complete System Recovery. If the audio does not immediately after a restart then the hardware has failed.

  • Question of graphics Dell Studio XPS 8100

I plan to upgrade my desktop computer Dell Studio XPS 8100 with a new graphics card, so that I can play new games such as Skyrim and Star Wars the old republic.

Can someone tell me which of these cards is best for this purpose, corresponds to my computer and if other changes are needed (ideally no)?

    EVGA GTX 550 VGA (GDDR5, PCI-Express, 2 GB)
    Sapphire 6750 (PCI Express, DDR3, 2 GB)
    Sapphire 6790 (PCI-Express, GDDR5, 1 GB)
PALIT GTX 550 Ti (GDDR5, PCI Express, 1 GB)

    Thanks in advance,

    Sikkaech

Based on the recommended for Skyrim card, you will need to go with the HD 6790 or GTX 550 it.  However, your biggest problem is food that is only 350 watts.  For all these cards, a higher power is recommended by the manufacturer.  The HD 6790 is the best on the list with the GTX 550 Ti in 2nd.  I'll take the other two on your list because they would fall the recommended card, but they would always play the games.   I would recommend if you upgrade the power supply to go with a unit of minimum mark of 500 watts with the necessary connections.

Skyrim recommended card: 1 GB RAM NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).  Old video card then the ones I showed would be comparable.

If you choose not to change your diet, a GTS 450 or HD 6750 can work.  I don't see much interest to get a card of 2 GB to this level.  It's going to be better than GDDR3 memory GDDR5.
