mSATA compatibility

can I use msata in my hp Pavilion dv6-7012tx?

The CPU is a Sandy Bridge, one, but the chipset is Ivy Bridge. Ivy Bridge is backward compatible with Sandy Bridge, so you can use the Sandy Bridge chips on the Ivy Bridge chipsets. I had one laptop computer similar laptop Dv6 (GeForce GT 630 M VGA) with a Sandy Bridge processor and the mSATA slot was there. This site is related to the chipset (motherboard) and if it's there you can use. I prefer pure SSDs so do not yet have an mSATA SSD, but have a loan for another laptop (M6). Remove the hard drive, install the mSATA SSD and install the system. Alternatively, you can use the same card wireless Intel 7260 Dual Band AC like me.

  • DM1 mSATA compatibility

I spoke with the support of the object, and as a first step, they said it was not supoprted, but then said they had no information about it, so I'm a bit confused. I spotted a PCIe mini location when I opened my laptop and am curious as to how it can be used, which prompted the call for support.

Whatever it is, anyone tried using an mSATA SSD in the dm1?

    It is bootable?

  • Compatibility with intel 310 X61s mSata

I read that the X61s is perhaps not compatible with the 310 mSATA from Intel, but were unable to determine whether it is "fixable" with an update of the Bios. I want very much to get an mSATA if it is compatible with this great machine.

It is not compatible, this compatibility requires the appropriate hardware configuration and not BIOS firmware.

The first machine to support mSATA is X 220.

  • Tecra S5 PTS53E - mSata SSD compatibility

    Hi all

    I have a Toshiba Tecra s5 PTS53E

is write anything there that can guide me.
How. identifies it? (Excuse my English)

Tecra S5 is an old series laptop and I don t think that this series is supported by the mSATA interface.
I guess you mixed up of this interface with the PCI mini (for BT, WLan or Modem module) slot which can be available on the motherboard.

  • Compatibility of drive SSD IdeaPad Y560p mSATA

    Hello world

I could not find this question on this forum so I decided to ask here. I have a Y560p awhile now and I'm happy with it, except for the very slow HARD disk. So would buy mSATA SSD, this one to be exact:

    http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IModule=CT256M4SSD3

So, my question is that going to work? Yes, I know it's SATA III and I know if it will work, it will work as a SATA II hard drive. I just need to know if the laptop can see larger sizes then 64 GB in this slot mSATA? I've seen posts where people say they have installed with success of 80 GB and 160 GB SATA II drives but not larger than that and SATA III... The post is quite old so I decided to open a new topic.

    Thanks in advance

    Welocome to the community!

If your mini-PCIe is electrically compatible with SATA in the first place, you'll be fine with the mSATA existing SSDs. I don't think I've seen something more than 256 GB, still. I have the Crucial even accurate in my X 220 and I am completely satisfied.

    Cheers.

  • HP ENVY 15 notebook PC TS: mSATA SSD compatibility

Hello!  I was wondering if my laptop is mSATA compatible III for my mSATA SSD slot

I am installing a new mSATA and the manual says (page5) laptop computer supports up to 24 G only, so does this mean I can't add more than 24 G?

is there any recommendation for what mSATA module which can I buy?

My product name: laptop HP ENVY 15 TS

    My product number: J1Y24EA #ABU

Any help will be very appreciated!  Thank you!

Hello! Well here's how it goes

The mSATA Slot is only used for as acceleration for A HDD Cache for better system Performance for anything else however you could reformat it for storage if you want, but 24GO is not that much

If you want to upgrade to an SSD to replace your HARD drive you buy a SSD SATA 2.5 inch

Who will go in place of your HARD drive in the Bay to start the computer and plug in the SATA cable

Now to start until the new drive, you must reformat so you have to make or buy a HP recovery for your computer media

Here is a link on how to do recovery HP Media

  • HP dv6 7040tx: compatibility mSATA for my laptop

    Hello

is it my computer laptop support mSATA SSD? I intend to add an SSD for my laptop. I have 2 options:

    1. Add an mSATA ssd

    2. replace the current HDD with SSD normal and add the disk using Caddy.

I don't know if my phone is compatible mSATA SSD. Can I add it to my laptop?

The features of my computer: HP dv6 7040tx

In the user's guide, it was provided that it supports 16 GB mSATA. I don't know if I can add 250 GB mSATA.

    Thank you

It supports an mSATA WSSD but not quite in the way you think. Your laptop uses the first generation of hardware using the mSATA. The mSATA was used only as a "cache" which accelerates a regular mechanical hard drive, using the Intel Rapid Storage technology. These are usually not larger than 32 gigs and when activated, create links with the mechanical drive in a RAID array type. The cache contains startup and commonly accessed files program files and speed up the process a bit. It's just not as good as a pure SSD for sustained Read and write operations. If a normal hard drive 2.5 inch is present in the main Bay SATA the WSSD cannot be the boot drive.

The configuration of your best and fastest is to place a 2.5 inch SATA SSD in the main Bay, and then if you need storage use a shopping cart of DVD player. I don't really like these arrangements and given the price that SSDS descended a little a 1 to is actually a viable option and should be all the storage that anyone really needs. What with the cloud and all. And the mSATA drives are not faster than a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

I just ordered a y470p and think I can get an SSD and it works as a boot drive. I have a few questions.

First how do I install the OS on the ssd?

Second after the installation will there be when even that use the features of recovery to touch with the ssd.

Thirdly I'd be able to use the faster start-up of Enhanced experience upward with the SSD?

Also are there any compatibility issues, devrais I don't receive a disc of msata Intel or must perform work?

  • [SSD] Add an mSATA on a Pavillion DV6

    Hi all,
I found that there is a gap under the touchpad. My laptop is:

I'm looking on the forums about adding mSATA on this laptop, but without help. My idea was to add the following:
    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/SSD/ct120m500ssd3
    Can someone help me?

Sorry your laptop predates mSATA WSSD compatibility. The notch you look like a mini-PCIe slot and physically it is. You could plug in a hard drive of the WSSD, and he would do. But nothing would happen because the location is for a map of Wan (cellular modem) only and it is the only device that will work if plugged into this niche.

You could install an SSD 2.5 inches of old regular in the Bay of hard drive for best performance that model will be.

  • HP Envy 14 A9P67UA spectrum #ABA: Add (or replace) mSATA SSD to the HP Envy 14 spectrum w/windows 10... possible? Worth the risk?

    Hi all!

So, I read in this forum on this subject and have seen mixed results.  I bought this computer a few years ago, generally pretty happy with it but I ran out of space and the battery is dying.  I am trying to decide whether to revise it or buy new.   That's what I want to do:

Add 2nd mSATA SSD in the second slot.  I saw a post like this HD is compatible but that's a post.  Around, I've read that others have had problems by adding a second SSD.  Some people can not access, some people, it shows only a 128 GB extra, in fact, some have a BSOD.   The post I saw replaced the original disc to help one of them and adding a second drive so the two HDs were of the same brand.  Is it a better idea?  Also, all the posts I've seen on this topic were two years old and dealt with Windows 7.  Windows 10 it will make it harder to do?

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-850-mSATA-2-inch-MZ-M5E1T0BW/DP/B00TGIVRYU?ie=UTF8&PSC=1&redirect=true...

If not I can try and use the same car with the model came in the second slot to help in possible compatibility issues, but I would be limited to a 128 GB extra (or possibly 256?).

I have also upgraded the memory of 8 GB and add a new battery.

Reflections on what is successful? I wouldn't waste money on these parts if this is going to work.  Thank you!

    Hi @cdmdds,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand from your posts that you are having a problem with your Notebook SPECTRUM HP ENVY 14 - 3010NR and needing some updates. This system supports 8 GB (8192 × 1) of the maximum of memory RAM and 256 GB (128 GB × 2) Page 34 of the repair. The battery information on page 32.

This would be due to the limit with the processor.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this post as accept as Solution, this will help others easily find the information they seek.
