Multiple users, a Desktop view

Hello!  I was responsible for the setting up of an office to view in a conference room that would be available for any user who needs.  We use Wyse P25 as zero customers.  My problem is this, is it possible to assign a desktop zero client and still allow a user to connect to windows on it?  I played with kiosk mode however I couldn't figure out how to allow multiple users to connect to this topic.  Any thoughts?  Most of my users have already access to a pool of office but which asked me to do, that separate this office conference room.  One thing I thought be set up a server connection of separate view with a floating desktop computer that is available for everyone however can two separate servers connection access to the resources of backend even at the same time?  (i.e. ESXi, vCenter, etc.)

The setting you are looking for is the AllowSingleSignon policy. This deactivation will cause the VM to require authentication at the level of the office and will allow for the use you are looking for.

More details on this setting can be found here:

Display Agent Configuration ADM Template settings

You will need to install the Agent ADM view model in AD and apply that policy to make it active. You can also assign the template to just the single virtual machine if necessary.

  • 95 / 5 / 1 use rule for more Desktop Viewer

    Hello

Russ Proudman written this in a workstation of discoverer recently:

«To many clients and presentations, I highly recommend the ' 95 ol / 5 / 1 rule is that you have 95 users using the Viewer, 5 users using more and maybe 1 with office (and most likely, it is the 1 with Admin as well).»

I wonder, is the standard for most places? If so, why this rule?

My last job, we used the 5/95/1 rule, where only a few used Viewer, almost all the most used and administrators used Desktop. Why? Is a superior to the Viewer tool. Search options and options (up to 10.1.2.2) input parameter sheet display options are superior to what is shown in the Viewer (more other reasons are not here). Only users who have accessed Viewer worked on remote sites - usually their homes - where the most access was terribly slow.

Curiously, in my current workplace, we follow your rule. I prefer the 95/5/1 rule. We plan to go to the 5/95/1 rule to 10.1.2.2 due to problems with the binding of one sheet to another by using the managed links. If we do not have, we must abandon our upgrade altogether. Oracle does not provide a solution for us at this time.

    Just curious.

    Thank you
    Nancy

I can explain my thinking better with the following:

    1. Firstly, Disco Viewer takes less band bandwidth and memory to run more. You can search the forums for amounts - that I don't remember - but as more are XML and Viewer is HTML the difference of the info, packages, etc., beyond the intranet at work is a factor. And then, as mentioned, less memory required to use the version of the Viewer.

    2. here is my soapbox reason:

So many customers, I am the 'right' thing for management to say is that "our users are entitled" which means that they want their users to write their own reports, etc.. Even if an intermediate layer to make things easier is installed (ie: NoetixViews, BIS views), end users - even trained - do not use the product every day and so create literally hundreds of programs that are poorly written, shared with their friends and run queries "dumb" don't don't need (ie: have a field index, but by causing ignorance research be a full array of research). They are usually no standard and the results are often incorrect (ie: trying to cross the orgs in Oracle Apps?, using Multicurrency in Oracle Apps or regular DB tables?, etc..).

So when it is time to level or a new IT manager comes along and tries to put an end to the prevalence of reports such as 'Margin Report - Budgets (do not use after Jan.2.2001 GL', ' margin Report - GL Budgets (it's good, but run only Monday) ", etc., it becomes an important task.

I found over so many times that if a company has a few report writers - and of course, depends on the company, but something like 5 would be a good thing - who know SQL, who know Disco and have been trained, and use the product on a daily basis - then only they should use more to create the reports and the other 94 / 95 / 100 would only her pre-existing companies reports made by these 5 and with the right combination of settings, etc., a report of the observer should allow multiple ways to view the data (ie: GL date per account, between a dollar amount, etc.).

And that leaves just the 1 or so to be the Admin and the same person who needs office.

    3. that being said, I've also found that many companies treat just identical to something like Oracle Apps discoverer. If Oracle Apps is slow - they set with several hardware configurations, etc. and to pay for a team of consultants to do. If the discoverer is slow because the server was set up wrong, they run another large application in the Disco box or users write "obstinate" reports... then the answer is usually "discoverer sucks... try [A]"-when [A] seems to be the flavour of the day - that is to say: don't insert the following: motion of Brio, Business Objects, Cognos Impromptu , Hyperion (good Oracle Hyperion now)... and the new fav... OBIEE.

So having a good administrator of Disco, some well trained, competent report writers and lotsa' end user runs these reports pre-written... it's where everything works.

    4. one last thing - I realize that a company can roll Disco more to all users and maintain the "power" of end-users down so that they can only operate pre-written reports as described above. It's okay as Yes, more is more user friendly and looks like 'cooler' in my opinion. But then, it's just the problem of network and memory to watch out for. I stayed in most of the companies does not present (only 1 so far), but it's a reasonable enough request. The problem was that they should start with just a spectator and see that the end users are simply glad to get the data. If they give them first, then nobody wants to feel "decommissioned" Spectator later.

Hope that explains my opinion better. Although it may seem a bit "negative, it is sure that I seem to find time and time again.

  • When there are multiple users e-mail of files that are on the left of the screen can be hidden by other users?

There are several people who might want to use Thunderbird on a work computer, but I don't like how all the e-mail files are open to the public view. It looks like anyone can see the emails without having to log on the account of others.

It is regrettable indeed, and I don't think it's a good idea.
You can opt for individual profiles, but this doesn't quite work for multiple users.

  • El Capitan server has been updated to allow multiple users to GUI?

    Good afternoon

We currently use a mini Server mac to run our software controller of AFN and we want it to be so that several people can manage the server of the Mini on their own connections. Is it possible that several people to connect with their own credentials to remotely?  While the account running the controller software that is connected, my attempts just go on forever.

Several GUI users can mean many different things, but I think that the case more suitable for you, the following means.

    • Yes, multiple users can connect remotely by using screen to your Mac server sharing
    • They can each use a different user account to authenticate their connection
    • If they use another user account to authenticate their screen sharing connection, they offered the possibility of initiating a separate session, you will then get a prompt similar to the following

    • You would choose "Log In" to get a separate user session

Note: Some applications such as Apple Remote Desktop administrator do not like to be used by multiple users on the same computer at the same time, other Applications may be ok.

    Original title: Multi users

Is it possible to set up for multiple users on the same computer to avoid entering the email and password every time that a new user want to check emails?

    Hello

Welcome to the community forums of Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. According to the description, you need help in the creation of multiple user accounts. I've surely you will help find a solution on the issue.

What is the operating system installed on the computer?

User accounts, several people can easily share a single computer. Each person can have a separate user account with unique settings and preferences, such as a screen saver or desktop background. User accounts control files and programs users can access and what types of changes users can make to the computer. As a general rule, you'll want to create standard accounts for most computer users.

If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, see the article below:

I installed Windows Server 2008 R2.  During the 1st 120 days, remote desktop worked for multiple users.  Now that the 120 days are up, it is necessary to purchase client access licenses.  However, is it possible to activate the remote desktop for one user without having to purchase client access licenses?  If so, I would like to ask for details.  I've been everywhere in the server options and can't seem to find the right combination.  Thank you!

  • multiple users/shortcut icons

I have multiple users created on our computers. I did drag the icons for Microsoft Office desktop programs to create shortcuts. Now the problem:

    1. shortcuts do not appear on the second user account
    2. I can't return the icons of the programs in the folder and create shortcuts on the second user account
    How do I:
    1. return of the icons of programs for Microsoft programs in the Microsoft folder?
I did drag the icons of the programs out of the folder to the administrative user - now I can't get them back. I'm sure there's a fix for this, but I messed up for awhile and don't want more things.

Each user account has its own 'Office' folder, which, for XP, is a general %UserProfile%\Desktop--en, it develops in
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop

There is ALSO a folder on the desktop for the "All Users" profile, which, for XP, is a general %AllUsersProfile%\Desktop--en, it develops in
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Bureau

The real 'Desktop' that is displayed for any given user account is a fusion of this folder on the desktop of the user and the All Users Desktop folder.

For example, if you want a shortcut for all users to see, simply copy in the All Users Desktop folder.  This same behavior works for the beginning > menu all programs.

Probably the fastest way to open the All Users Desktop folder is to right-click on the Start button and select open all users (or explore all users), then click the 'Folder' icon in the toolbar to get to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.  You can then double-click on the folder on the desktop to open it.

Regarding your other difficulties - did create you shortcuts on the desktop, or did you actually move the executable programs themselves?  The icons have the shortcut arrow? When you right click and select properties it is a tab "shortcut"?

If you have created shortcuts on the desktop, there is no need to bring them in the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Officenn. Just move them to the folder Users\Bureau all as described above.

If you dragged your desktop real exe files, what happens when you try to drag their return?

  • A Wyse V10L frmw 6.4.0_24 can connect to a desktop view 5.1?

We have a number of old Wyse ThinCLients (V10L firmware 6.4.0_24) that are out of support, so a firmware update is not an option.

This V10L can be used to connect to a desktop view 5.1?

It did not work I'm afraid. I got the VMware brand connection but when I get a name of user and password known work the terminal will just beep and it goes no further.

  • Fusion and multiple users

    Hello

I hope someone can answer a few questions for me.

I just installed Fusion 3 on an iMac with 4 users in my household. For one reason or another, we all need access to WinXP. I have admin rights and everyone has rights of the user.

I installed the merger under my admin account, but when I change user and launch the merger, he seems to want to install XP.

    My questions are:

    (1) merger not allows to access XP from several user accounts? Not even a single user at a time?

    (2) otherwise, since it is the woman who has the most need for XP, is possible to move the virtual machine to its account, or do I have to perform another installation of XP?

    (3) if I need to perform another installation, it ruin things if I have XP/Fusion installed on my account and create another facility for her?

    Thank you

This error message is related to the function of VMware shared folders (VMware Fusion (menu bar) > VM > settings... > sharing (under control panel)) and is apparently pointing to a file that other users have no access to or is they if, lets say, pointing to your desktop folder.  In other words if the shared folder of VMware will be used, then you must point to a location that all applications have access to.  Also note that the "Mirrored folders" feature should not be used when multiple users need to access/use the same Virtual Machine.

Probably the best solution for the use of VMware shared folders with multiple users is to not use this feature and instead use native file Mac sharing in order to achieve this.  Unfortunately if you do not use the VMware Shared Folders functionality you can also not use the settings > Applications > default Applications features either.  The workaround for this is to use a share point common that all users have access to and then use native file sharing on the Mac to allow each user access to files in their home and the common share folder point that all users have access to the shared folder of VMware feature to use the settings under settings > Applications > default Applications

Unfortunately, that's when the permissions are involved and we certainly won't give all permissions for everyone to (even if desired).

  • Change the IP address of the desktop view real-time

I have your desktop view to sometimes have a certain IP address for some functions. I wrote some VBscript that will change the IP address of the one he was given by DHCP to static. After I run the script the office is no longer available through the client of the view (it is like a semi - disconnect - the screen remains in place but is frozen). I know it's kind of heartbreaking office under the customer for a way out, but I was wondering if anyone else is something similar, or has any suggestions on how I could get it to work. I also thought to have the script do a disconnect from the session and then change the IP address, then the user could just re - connect to the desktop from the client to the view. It is not as clean as only being able to change the IP address on the fly, but it is probably acceptable. I just don't understand how to have the code VBScript to disconnect the session.

    Thank you!

You have to try the method then reconnect.  I don't think it can be done on the fly from essentially your connected to a certain IP address from a distance standpoing and then it changes.

  • Multiple users on the same installation of ODI?

    Hi all

is it possible to have multiple users work with the same installation of odi? We have a (citrix and VMware) virtualized IT infrastructure where we can have multiple users on the same virtual instance. From our point of view, unproblematic license as we have a covering set literally everything.

One of the problems are the configuration files stored in the odi installation directory (..) «(/ bin).» Is there a way to tell odi to store them in a different location, for example. the user home?

    Thank you very much
    Benno

ODI research in the current working for configuration files directory, for the most part, you would have problems with the snps_login_work.xml and snps_login_security.xml files, but these can be common across all users. (just do not save the name of user and password to the users of the ODI in them).
How works ODI, most of which is created is stored in the repository in any case, it is only local GUI config of the things that can be stored locally.
Short answer, Yes, you can, but maybe have to change some config files to make it work.

  • GL: Default desktop viewer

    Hello
I used my responsibility of functional administrator to set the GL: Viewer default Office Excel 97 through basic-> profiles Services. I then switched to the responsibility of the general accounting of the Super users and was happy to see the link to launch the wizard newspaper it - I'm sure it wasn't before but is not relevant - but when I tried to create a new document, I BNE:EXCEL97 is a viewer for an error invalid key. I then used my responsibility of system administrator and went to profile-> system and set the value of the Viewer for Excel 2000 at all levels. When I went back to my GLSU responsibility, however, the viewer was still Excel 97. So, how I spoil it? Why I can't change the viewer and why Excel 97 is not allowed if it is one of the selections?
    TIA,
    George

Do you have the application connection/disconnection after setting the profile option?

  • El Capitan permissions bad for lib with multiple users

On my Mac with multiple users and running El Capitan, I encountered a problem with an application (GoGlobal) failed to start with "errno = 13", which is a problem of permissions with usr/local/lib /.

I determined that on Yosemite, usr/local/lib was owned by root and permissions: drwxr-xr-x. However, on El Capitan, usr/local/usr / local / lib lib is owned by one of the nicks (random?) and has permissions drwx-, which is the source of the errno = 13.

I got around the problem by chmod 755 to lib /, but I fear that a future update will reset these permissions impassable previous values. Please correct these settings in install and update routines.

GoGlobal isn't a request to Apple. You can send your message to the developer, who develops not only the Application itself, but the installation script that puts in place of its components.

  • Execution of multiple user profiles does not not in Firefox 32.0.3

    Hello.

I have several profiles user for work and private use. Today I decided to use Firefox for private use again (currently using Chrome for private use). Because on Chrome, the video is "pixelated" when video quality is superior to 720 p. Also for purposes of stability, if Firefox crashes, which happens frequently, I keep everything.

In any case, I use the Profile Manager for execution of multiple user profiles.

The problem is when I try to open a private profile when you're already running a work profile, it opens a new window of work profile, not a private.

    I use this shortcut: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla" P - by default - noremote
The "default" profile is the work, I have a different shortcut, which is private:
    "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla ' private Pei - noremote

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello tgolisa, I think the right command line parameter is -no-remote...

  • IMac is not able to share multimedia files with multiple users on the same computer.

We just bought a new IMac that we were very excited.  We have phones Apple and iPads, replacement and ten year with a new Mac old PC made since.

Now, the trouble begins. For more than ten years Windows had several usernames on the same machine and have been able to have a shared folder only for music, pictures and video that my iTunes program and others could acsess and share from several user names. This kept all in one place for new photos families by me or my wife and our 30 gigabytes of music that comes from our CDs was available at bolt of us. Now in train to implement on IMac should be easy but is impossible.  after transferring the music to my login information, it cannot acsess all files on my login. I am not even able to share or provide his acsess. I can move the iTunes folder to my shared folder. She can get acsess now but iTunes says that the library file is locked. I worked with care from Apple on the phone for that sold, but they believe it will not be possible without creating two copies of the 30 gigabytes of music for each of us. who would take more hard drive when it failed too.  Sharing is not any help. These files were before iTunes. I'm not pay 30 dollars a month to store in icloudcor use a google reader slow to the Internet connection when everything's fine here. Apparently Applow programmers do not believe in sharing of multimedia files between two users on the same device, even if a PC does that very well. My choice here is so far have duplicates of all the photos, music and videos loaded on the disc for me and my wife, charge all the media for an external hard drive which for some reason any all Apple programs will share, or return the mac to another PC that will be able to make several connections with sharing music and photos. Apple if you are reading this you are 10 years behind on that. Not everyone is born in the last five years and bought their music on iTunes to be able to use home sharing. Home sharing cannot help this. your applications should be able to be told to use the media files shared without import copies to readers of the user. I am very disappointed. Someone else has any ideas for that?  I have pictures, not iPhoto. I have a week more to be able to return it. I'm not interested in making a fake account that is always connected to share or maintaining of me constantly connected. It should have been easy, I had to be happy to play with new software.

Photos, iPhoto and iTunes libraries must appear on an external hard drive that is formatted as shown below to be used by multiple users on the same Mac:

So get a properly formatted external HD and move your iPhoto/pictures of her as well as your iTunes library.  This way all your iMac users can access and use both libraries.

An alternative to the external HD method is to partition your internal hard drive into two partitions, one for libraries.  It is formatted as shown above and be large enough to contain the libraries and allow the expansion of libraries.
