my complete list of bookmarks is doubled

Firefox 12 - fully updated for windows xp

The get bookmarks addon tab is repeated my full list of bookmarks (all folders and bookmarks). What's past and how to fix it? I have to go and change the entire list to single entries?

I was able to restore the file of one of 10 backups. I had to return about 5 to get one which was correct.

Thank you

  • my iMac has eaten my list of bookmarks. He left me with a smaller abstract has nothing that I use. He did this on my personal MacBook Pro too. I need these bookmarks for work!

iMac used to work... macbook pro for personal use. This weekend I noticed the list of bookmarks on macbook has been reduced to almost nothing and was not what was there anything I used normally. Report to work this morning and the same list of bookmarks is on my work computer. all brands of book that I use for work disappeared. How can I do to try to find my list of bookmarks. I did not any changes to the list or something like that. This iCloud is linked. Honestly I try not iCloud. Keep in mind that I suck at computers related things.

Use your Time Machine backup to restore the bookmarks. Here are the instructions:

Bookmarks in Safari are all stored in a file called bookmarks.plist, located on ~/Library/Safari. To access this file in the Finder, choose home page menu reach. Open the library folder, then open the Safari folder.

Once you have located the file in Time Machine (we must return to a time where you knew you had), click it and restore.

BTW, OS X won't eat bookmarks. You or another user on your computer does something to lose. By chance you run antivirus or cleaning applications on your computer? If so, this could be your problem.

  • How to change the list of bookmarks

Where can I find instructions to change the list of bookmarks?

You can change the bookmarks in the bookmarks (library) Manager.

Just to be sure you understand how this works:

    • By clicking on the star in the toolbar navigation go to bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star lights in blue to show that
    • Bookmarks > 'Bookmark this Page' (Ctrl + D) going to bookmark the page in the folder of bookmarks Menu (you will need to confirm that)
    • 'Bookmark this Page' is accessible via the context menu in the area through the bookmarks menu or navigation in the menu or Firefox menu button drop-down bar (Alt + B)
    • If the URL in the active tab is set bookmark and the star is highlighted blue and then click the star highlighted or use "Bookmark This Page/Edit this bookmark" (Ctrl + D) to change the properties of the bookmark as the name and the location and move the bookmark to another folder or delete the bookmark

    • "Most Visited" and "Recently set bookmark" and "Recent Tags" are examples of what is called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not the real existing folders.
    • These smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores the history and bookmarks in Firefox.
    • Bookmarks or history items that appear in a list of smart folder are also stored in another file, and any changes are applied to the element of bookmark or true story.
    • By clicking on the star in the toolbar navigation go to bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star lights in blue to show that

    • 'Bookmark this Page' is accessible via the menu shortcut in the area via the menu of bookmarks in Firefox menu button menu or navigation drop-down, or if you use the keyboard via the bookmarks menu (Alt + B)
  • Some records are not in my list of bookmarks; the individual bookmarks can be found in the search, but the record does not show.

Some records are not in my list of bookmarks; individual bookmarks can be found in the search, but the folder does not appear in the list of bookmarks, and results do not indicate where the individual bookmarks.

You can use an add-on to display add a column to the Library dialog box for the folder of the bookmark.

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/firefox/addon/show-parent-folder/

The extension can indicate only the name of the folder or you can view the full path via the menu in the folder. This full path option is useful if a file accidentally gets you drag somewhere in order to explore the it and find it.

To access the settings of the extension, you can use the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, find the Options button under the specific extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

  • How can I view a complete list of my characters

I have dozens of personas. I finally realized I should categorize those I want to turn under a name (holiday) and then I the rotator change the holiday list. I need to remove old holiday so I use ROTATION NEXT. When I have a few in the list, I hit delete. I'm trying to clean up those other holidays, but some keep coming up like always activated. What shows on the screen is only part of the list. any way to display the entire list so you can choose through and delete those I most need?

Firefox only stores the data of a maximum number of personas (DEFAULT_MAX_USED_THEMES_COUNT = 30)

If you install more personas Firefox will remove other personas to make room for the new identity, so it is best to keep a list or bookmark the site of your favorite characters.

You can override this limit by creating a whole pref with the name lightweightThemes.maxUsedThemes and set the value accordingly.

You can also use the Personas Plus extension to handle more personas.
