  • My download folder does not open

    Hi team,

Download folder does not. Please suggest me route cause.

I recently updated my window of widows-7-10.

    Thank you.

How do you try to open it? By clicking on it in the PC file Explorer / this? Something else?

Nothing happens when you click on it? If you get an error message, please quote verbatim.

Is this a new problem or a long? If it's new, that you recently changed?

Is it just downloads or you have the same problem with other folders?

If you have not restarted since the problem began, do so and try again.

    Hello

    Thanks for your quick response.

It was only the downloads folder, but it is now. I rebooted my system, and it appears.

I think because of the overhead it did not open.

    Thank you

  • Stuck in the downloads folder Documents in Vista folder

It seems that at some point, I accidentally managed to move the My Documents folder in my downloads folder, and I can't bring it back to my user profile folder. The link to the documents folder now points to the downloads folder as well as my user profile. If I try to move the rear backrest, overwrite the 'shortcut' in the user folder, or delete shortcuts it deletes the actual file permanently. Needless to say I lost a lot of important issues, as is, I managed to recover some of them through the system restore, but because this feature is not intended to change my personal files it can't solve my problem or restore the most important files, regardless of the back where I'm going.

I could really use help when setting at least my problem with duplicate folders of Documents without losing the original. I like to keep the special classification as a user also profile folder well (he having this special icon and the link in the start menu). That would be easily solved by using the snapshot feature on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, but I use Home Premium on this computer. I don't understand how such a feature could be reserved for the ultimate when it could be used to solve all problems resulting of the ridiculous PIPs in the OS itself. I always liked Windows but moves like that always make me wonder why I bother.

Here are the steps on how to move the profile personal user shell folders in Vista (I don't know how you move them to download without using this procedure - is the Documents folder always blue?). http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/107990-personal-user-shell-folders-move-location.html.  Quite honestly I don't know what will happen in your situation with two folders of Documents - as long as move you to the location appropriate, I don't think that something will happen to the content, but I have never tried this with duplicates before.  I make a copy of one (a normal copy) and save it as somewhere just in case if we have data somewhere else not involved in the process and that can be used to re-create a Documents folder appropriate if worse comes to worse.

Assuming a normal situation, this procedure might work, but I don't know how you have moved in the first place so I am not sure that move the right way will set things back to normal.  However, even if it's not we can still solve the problem with a differentt procedure I will post if necessary.  BTW, System Restore does not retrieve data files - ITI specifically excludes the so that they are not lost when a restore is required (and so it is not to retrieve them).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Download folder to System32 path instead of SysWOW64 path Points

It is a long-standing problem that I ignored and circumvented for years. But now I plan an upgrade to Windows 10 and think I would ask for trouble if I don't fix it all first.

The problem is that my download folder is pointing to C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Downloads instead of C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Downloads. When I actually download something, it goes into the SysWoW64 directory. I have a link on the desktop and as a workaround.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

The default location for the downloads folder is C:\Users\yourusernamepersonal.

It is possible to change this in Internet Explorer.

    • Click the gear on the top icon right
    • Click on View downloads
    • Click Options in the lower left corner
    • Click Browse, and then select any convenient folder

I saw an error in the establishment of the download folder that could not be reset in IE.  If this happens then you can fix it using the procedure given in move the folder of the user.  The procedure is related to the parameter & checking all file locations [re] user but you are only interested in paragraphs 2.2 - 2.5, 2.8.  As you will read, I had to use this procedure myself, so I know it works & has no secondary effect.

I am baffled by your current settings.  I can't imagine how it all went so dramatically bad for you.  You do not use the built-in Administrator account, you?  You will need to stop this before upgrading to Windows 10 or you would probably lose all your files of the user at all times as long as this account is completely deleted then recreated by Windows 10 [there were some reports of users of this last year].
