  • Saving PDFs: I would like to be able to change the name of the file and the destination of the downloads without jumping through hoops.

    I download a lot of PDF files and I organize their file name. I want to record on my computer to read later. When I have a PDF document is opened in the browser, it's particularly embarrassing. As it is, I have two options:

    Save the file:
    This automatically sends the file to a temporary folder to download, which Windows will not let me access without memorizing the exact location. It also saves automatically under the default file name, I never keep. If I use this option, I have to go back and manually move the file in my documents and rename it.

    Open the file:
    This opens the file in a new window from Adobe (while simultaneously recording to the same temporary folder). I have to open the file in the browser, and then open it in a new window, then hit save slot, then PDF, then change the destination folder (because the default value is the temp folder) and name of the file.

    Please, give me manual control of downloads! I want just a save as option.

    Is it possible to right click on the download link and use Save Link as...?

  • When I download something on the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but that the window remains empty. Before it used to show at least the name of the file and I was able to open the file in the "Downloads" window Is it possible to recover this feature?

    I am running Windows XP that is updated to the latest version (which I think could be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine, so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.

    At some point in the past (there are maybe a few versions) when I want to download a file from the Internet, the "downloads" window opens and in the window would display the name of the file I got was download or came from download. I think I used to be able to then click on the file name and opens the file (or the Setup file if necessary to launch the new program). I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (screen "On Firefox" said that it is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it has always in the past, but it remains empty, that is, nothing is displayed in the download area. I don't remember to make configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain a Virgin, but I could be wrong. I know how to find the items I downloaded (My Documents / downloads) and can generally guess what might be the name of the downloaded file, but it was much easier when something (anything) appeared in the downloads window.

    I'd like someone to tell me about a simple solution for this. I'm ready to be pretty embarrassed that I did something I should not have.

    In the Firefox Options / confidentiality be sure 'Remember download history"is checked. To see all the options on this Panel, "Firefox will be" must be set to "use the custom settings for history".

    To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click on the icon my computer, choose Properties, this little window is info on your operating system.

  • Name of the file and the measure in the same table?

    Hello

    I wrote the following VI which opens each image file in a folder and measure a certain size on the image. He then puts the result in a table.

    The table has a column and N lines since I N images in my folder. How can I change this VI so that it puts the name of the file in the same table as well as the measurement?

    I want the table to look like:

    File1 measurement1

    File2 GCA2

    ...

    and so on.

    Currently, it just shows

    measurement1

    GCA2

    ....

    and so on.

    The VI are:

    You cannot use the Table Express. Like the properties page says: this is for digital data. You will need to use a bit of real LabVIEW to create the table. A table is simply a string 2D array. Convert the digital chain, build an array of 1 d of the filename and numberic strings and use a shift register to build a 2D array. Something like the code below.

  • How can I get a "Détails" view - as the default - when you download a file, in the dialog box "enter the name of the file to save on...» » ?

    When I get an attachment to an email (using Zimbra Imail, Firefox, Windows XP Pro) and I click on it and select 'Download', I get the dialog box "enter the name of the file to save on...» "(because I already have the option"always ask me where to save files. "But the view of default file always in a 'list '. At least recently. I don't remember it always does this. In any case, I want the value default to a 'Détails' view, in ascending order, I can find then things so much faster that way. (I often use the 'Update' tab to bring up, the latest version of a file.) I know that I can go to the Menu 'view' icon and select 'Détails', but whenever I go in a sub-folder in this dialog box, I have to do this all over again and it wastes a lot of time and attention.

    I did some research on the internet but have not found a way to solve this problem.

    Try this:

    a. open my documents, press the alt key.

    b. click on Tools. Click on folder options.

    c. click on the view tab and select Reset and check records.

  • great report called from forms, I can't put the name of the file to download

    It's forms 11g

    Generate a report with destype = CACHE and desformat = "ENHANCEDSPREADSHEET."

    The problem is that the browser starts to download the file with the name getjobid = 123 excel

    (123 to be the id of the task in the queue of reports)

    The file is a valid xls I can open it with excel, but it would be nice to be able to change the name or ask the user where to store the file.

    I tried to adjust the report_desname, and I see in the queue of the server reports that the desname is ok, but the file is still download in getjobid = 123

    Any clue?

    What you are describing has nothing to do with the forms.  You would see the same behavior if you open the status reports page and attempted to open the report from there.

    I don't know if this behavior can be changed.  It is a good question for someone in the space of the reports.  Click on the link below to be redirected to the forum of reports.

  • Limit the length of the file name of the file to download in a file.

    Hello

    I got a file navigation item. When the file name is 74 more characters, he goes to an error page. Can this be avoided?
    To avoid this, I tried to use a javascript script
    function doSubmitWithProgress()
    {
    If {(document.getElementById('P202_FILE_INPUT').value.length > 70)
    Alert ("file name must be less than 70 characters.'");
    Object.Focus ();
    }
    on the other
    {$x_Hide ('wwvFlowForm');
    $x_Show ('InProgress');
    doSubmit ('UPLOAD_FILE');
    }
    }
    But consider the path of the file as well and therefore to cause a problem.
    So could you please help me with this problem.
    If there is a way to avoid going to the error page if the name of the file is big, that would be great. Otherwise, if there is a way to check that the length of the file name and trigger an alert if it is larger than 70 characters, that would help me also.

    Thank you
    Vignesh

    Vignesh,

    You can use the javascript str.split ()* method to break down the full path in a table of its individual parts and then check the length of the last piece (which ends up being the name of the file).

    For example.

    function doSubmitWithProgress()
    {
      // Create a variable to hold the full file name with path
      var fullFileName = document.getElementById('P202_FILE_INPUT').value;

      // Now create an array that contains the individual pieces of
      // the file name split on the "/" boundaries
      var myArray  = fileName.split('/');

      // The last variable contains the length of the last item in the array
      // which ends up to be our actual file name.
      //
      // NOTE: We have to use myArray.length-1 because JavaScript
      // Arrays start at 0
      var fileNameLength = myArray[myArray.length-1].length;

      if (fileNameLength > 70)
      {
        alert('File name should be less than 70 characters in length.');
        object.focus();
      }
    else
      {
        $x_Hide('wwvFlowForm');
        $x_Show('InProgress');
        doSubmit('UPLOAD_FILE');
      }
    }

    Hope this helps

  • Print file stuck in the coil, the message "unable to copy the name of the file: it is used by another person or program".

    Recently, I tried to capture a job by a break of a print queue, print work and copy the files from the spool (under C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS) before unpausing the queue. However, when I try to copy the files, I get the error message "unable to copy the name of the file: it is used by another person or program". I tried several times with the same result. The only way to get the file off the ground is obviously t reactivate the print queue and they will quickly deteleted shortly after. Is there a way I can recover these files? Assume the change the port in 'File' to make a copy of file is on the table. I ran this in the title of administrator user rights.

    The file you are trying to "capture" you will do some good.  However, if you want to watch or copy it, first stop the print spooler.  Open the Services applet (start > run > services.msc > OK).  Scroll down to "Print spooler" and click "Stop".  Don't forget to restart the print spooler after you copy the file or you will not be able to print.

    If you want to print to a file rather than on paper, there are at least three ways to do it (not counting "Print to a file").

    Using the "Print to file" box will produce a *.prn file.  It contains commands specific to the printer; It cannot be opened by the usual word processor applications; It can be used to print to the printer selected in the print dialog box or printer that uses the same commands to the printer.  For example, you have a printer installed on 1 computer but you have physically moved the printer to computer 2, where it is now installed.  You can check the "Print to file" on the computer 1, save the file to a flash drive *.prn, carry it to computer 2 and then print it out by copying the file to the printer (in a command prompt window).

    1. the best way, IMO, is to print to a PDF using free CutePDF Writer.

    2. you can create a "generic, only the text" printer and select this option when you print.  This produces a *.txt file.  To install the generic/text printer only, follow these steps:

    1. Click the Start button, point to settings, and then click Printers.
    2. Double-click the add printer icon.
    3. Click the next button.
    4. When you are prompted "How is this printer attached to your computer? Click the local printer option button, and then click Next.
    5. In the manufacturers box, click Generic. In the Printers box, click generic/text only, and then click Next.
    6. In the available Ports box, click FILE, and then click Next.
    7. When you are prompted "do you want that your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer?" click the no option button, and then click Next.
    8. When you are guests "would you like to print a test page?" click the no option button, and then click the Finish button.

    3. use the Microsoft XPS Document Writer, which may already be installed on your computer.  "XPS" was Microsoft's attempt to compete with Adobe PDF.  He did not.  Unfortunately, the only way to view a document produced by the XPS Document Writer is using the Microsoft XPS Viewer.

  • CFContent open file with # in the name of the file

    I am launching a file when the user clicks on a link. Sometimes the file name has a # sign in the name, like "my file #1.xlsx. When he clicks on it, they get an error message saying "the file specified in the contentTag does not exist", then shows... /My file not found.

    In addition, even if I do not of course at the moment, I think that I had trouble with some other characters such as ^, *,?, ", <>, |.» And consecutive periods (.) as my... Filename.xlsx. However, I can live with this problem but not the # in the name of the file!

    There must be something I can do to start such a file.

    Here is what I use:

    It's the call: < td > < a \#qryGetFileNames.ServerFile# href="./fileopener.cfm?attached_file=true & posted = #qryGetFileNames.ServerDirectory #" > #qryGetFileNames.ServerFile # < /a > < table > "

    < cfset posted = ' #url.file_location # ' >

    < name cfheader = "content-disposition" value = "attachment; filename = #file_location #">"

    < cfcontent deleteFile = ' ' line = #file_location # reset = "yes" >

    Thank you.

    Have you tried to escape the #?

    #replace(file_location,"#","##","all") #.

    OR

    In the URL: #URLEncodedFormat (qryGetFileNames.ServerFile) #.

  • CFpdf and CFcontent this filepath and name of the file in the browser

    Thanks for all the help over my questions CF....

    I developed a download application for (connected to the secure module) users who download a PDF outside the root, moves and renames the file and then cfpdf protects the file with a password. Part of the download process inserts variables into a SQL database such as category, subcategory, file name, etc. Cffile move puts the file inside the root where I have a security framework. No problem with that.

    I have a page of filled cfm (dynamically) with links to pdf files. These links contains the url handlers, passing the path and name. When a user clicks on a link, it is brought to an index.cfm with infrastructure security and in this page, I cfpdf link to the pdf file (and a password) and cfcontent to load the PDF in the browser. All this works fine, as it should.

    However... Because cfpdf sets the path/name of the source and destination file and it transmits the cfcontent tag - the path and name are shown in the browser as well as naming address bar the same as the address http file download (although with underscores) if the user saves the file. Anyone with any sense can include the name and the actual filepath and go directly to the file in their browser. They would still have to enter a password to view the file, but I'd rather not have this filepath exposed like that.

    Without having to create a copy of the original and rename the file, is there a way to change what is listed in the browser's address and the name of download file? At some point it may be a lot of PDFs downloaded and stored on this site. I prefer not to have 2 copies of every file on the server - the original and a reputation...

    I googled and google and can't find an answer anywhere on this. Thanks to all the world pointing me in the right direction here.

    EI

    Finally, figured this out...

    Given that the file exists on the server, there is no need to use cfpdf and cfcontent to serve the PDF file.

    When the user click on the PDF link, the user is directed to a page that contains the security environment where there is a redirect to the PDF document on the server. I have the PDF password protected. The PDF file opens in the browser and, if, is saved with the name of the file only instead of the full url + file name.

    Learn to work with CF and PDFs by cfdocument and cfpdf these last time has been a bit frustrating fun. (!) I guess it was too much trying to do the above, so I needed a direct link to the file itself.

    Hope it helps someone else...
