REMOVE UNWANTED WINDOWS. FILES AND OLD DIRECTORY

Some time previously, I have known a 'Crash' computer and eventually re-instaqlling WINDOWS 7.  The old Windows 7 files were stored on my hard drive as Windows.old.  I have transferred from the files that I needed in the new files in Windows7, but have been unqable to remove the files and old windows.old directory.  I tried the remedies 'online' by using the disk cleanup and change the administrative control of the changes, but nothing seems to work.  More recently, I tried to open the prompt in administrative mode, and again, I was unable to delete the directory of the object or the files and the subfolders.

When it comes to remove the sub directories, with. and... the monikers, nothing happens, and online tips indicate that I'm not using a syntax of brand.

If I try to delete the directory or the files or move them to the Recycle Bin, the system advises I need Administrative approval?

Any suggestions?

John

Hello

Thanks for the post.

When you try to delete the files and folders under the folder Windows.old the message says that you need administrative privileges.

Method 1:

If you are the administrator of the computer, then log in with the Admin account and try to delete the folder.

Method 2:

You run the prompt in administrator mode. Follow the steps.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Type "cmd" in the search box.
  3. Right-click on command prompt in the list.
  4. Choose "Run as Administrator"

Method 3:

You can disable user account control and check if it helps. Check out the link and follow the steps.

Enable or disable the User Account Control

  • PC became slower after execution of 'Registry Easy' to remove unwanted registry files.

I have windows 7. recently, I downloaded "Registry easy" to remove unwanted registry files to make my pc faster. registry cleaning has been a success, but I followed with "junk cleaner" functionality of this software. Now this function is supposed to be just to clean the "undesirable." After cleaning, most of the files are format .tmp. now I feel that my pc has become slower, I feel some files (perhaps .tmp) deleted wer of the Windows folder despite my de-selection of Windows files to ensure that they are not considered as spam before you run "clean of junk. also, I currently have a low disk space. RAM, etc work fine. so slows PC due to insufficient disk space or this cleaning? I will be grateful for your help.

These registry cleaners are snake oil.  They do little or no good and can cause serious problems.  Regarding unwanted cleaners, there is a good one built into Windows 7, and we know it's safe.  If you click on start-> computer, then click on the C: drive and click Properties, you can then click the disk cleanup button and it will clean the junk files.

    Good luck.

Thanks so much for your help, I just do not delete the old file (sad having to save old installler just to install the new).

  • How to remove all corrupted files and Roxio?

New problem since the last automatic download of an update to my Windows Vista:

On Windows Vista, whenever I start a program, I get the error message ' (programname) .exe - damaged file. " The file or the directory c:\program files\common Roxio shared is damaged and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility. »

I have run checkdisk repeatedly, but always the same error message every time that any program starts.

I tried to uninstall all the subprogrammes of Roxio in this folder, but the "uninstall" program would not do that.

I also tried to reinstall Roxio of CD disc programs and Vista wouldn't let me do it anymore.

My other programs all work perfectly, so I take it that it is not the executable file for these various programs that is corrupt, only the one Roxio.

The MacAfee program tells me that I have no virus it can see.

How can I remove this corrupt file/folder? Or at least stop getting this error message?

After you save your data, you would be much better to a resumption of the proceedings to factory settings (how you bought):

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Windows 7 license is a commercial license complete? If this isn't the case, you can transfer it to the new office. OEM licenses have no transfer rights.

If it is not possible, how can I transfer content and data from old office new office with only a single copy of Windows 7?

If it is a retail license. First, install Windows 7 on the new desktop, remain offline, do not enable.

  • Question related to the removal of Windows 8 and installing Windows XP

Please could someone help me, I need/want to remove windows 8 of my ASUS laptop and install windows xp, no matter what I do, I can't the laptop to boot from the CD-ROM drive.

Any help would be great, thanks in advance

    was soon Liz

The first thing you should check with Asus to see if readers of Windows 7 are available for your computer model. not all manufacturers provide these. Otherwise, you need to consider to return the computer and buying one with Windows 8.0 Pro for the right to demotion or buy one with Windows 7 installed. Another thing to consider is that some computer manufacturers you want to change the operating system as your warranty. Once you find that drivers are available and you decide to go down just to buy a copy of Windows 7 and install like any other operating system. Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.
