NAS200 telnet? fsck? Lost + found? Help me please.

I NEED to access the NAS200 drives.

Somehow my file system was broken.

Yesterday I was copying some files on the device (attached to a dedicated UPS, so no power failure when writing) during the copy (it was long) I tried to delete some files in a different folder.

The player responded: removal of the files had a life (even if the copy is complete) it took about 40 seconds to delete each file...

So I decided to cancel the operation and restart the device.

I pressed the power button, I heard the stop sound and turns off after a while.

I turned on it once, it happened as usually: leds (power - activity - disk1 and disk2), beeps...

Then I tried to access my files, but vista gave me a network share could not be found.

First of all, I ping the device, he was there.

Then I have connected to the web management, made a successful logon, checked state.

All right: two recognized discs. Chip Disk1: OK, chip Disk2logical disk K 0 (raid 0): ok.

Total space 1, 5 to, free space 200 GB.

Is there a way to access the ext3 FS without the web interface?

The file system appears to be damaged but not bad (or I don't know disk space / free)...

If the disk file system are not accessible through NAS200 can I connect the disks in a PC with linux and a raid controller? Or is the only raid array works with the controller in NAS200?

The RAID is a software RAID using mdadm. If you have a Linux system, it should be easy to mount hard drives SATA or eSATA or (at most) a USB to SATA converter. If you define for the journaled file system, the NAS200 uses XFS. It uses ext2 for not journaled.

If you connect the disks on a Linux machine, you will find 3 partitions on each disk: (1) the data partition, (2) a configuration partition, and (3) a swap partition. I do not recommend making any changes to the configuration partition unless you know what you're doing.

Connect the drive on a Linux system is going to allow you to recover things MUCH faster that to do with the NAS200 (who is actually a PC 133 headless of 486 MHz which feels like it is clocked at 100 MHz).

If you insist to leave readers in the NAS and you wish to SSH or Telnet access, you can install my firmware . It will not affect your configuration or your hard drives, it will always be like the Linksys firmware (I only added additional features and didn't touch any of the Linksys stuff) and you can easily put the original firmware if you don't like it or don't need more.

There is no telnet or SSH access in the default firmware.

    Recovery tools:

    If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

    To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

    Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

    In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

    Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

    Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

    First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

    If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

    If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

    A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

    Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages.     I did a migration from my old Macbook Pro and iMac 27 inches today. After migration was finished appeared several folders in the Macintosh HD, which normally are not there:

    -Record Office (empty)

    -var (from old Mac)

    -lost + (found 3 x ± 5 GB of files iNode)

    I found the first two I could delete safely, but I don't know if I can do it with the ' lost + found ' folder. Searching the Internet I found out that this folder is probably created because of a hard disk crash. And a few months ago, I had a hard drive problem, because I accidentally turn off my Macbook Pro in the new update OS X and I had to fix my hard drive with diskutility. So I think that during the migration of this folder was also transferred to my new iMac. Does anyone know more about this topic and I can remove this folder safely? Help would be very appreciated.     You can delete the folder. It can contain corrupted files, from which useful data can rarely, if ever, be retrieved.

    I can't use the Windows installation CD because the 'upgrade' option is NOT available!

He said that when I start to Boot Device not found, please install an operating system on your hard drive. Followed by the hard drive (3FO), I can only click f2 and it gives me the link to visit the Help Center. The computer saying that it did not have an operating system was not the first alert, that I had, it was something else saying there was an error of hard disk which then became not having not not an operting system. I tried to go to f11 and go in this way, but regardless of what it always comes back to the screen that shows the found boot device, please install an operating system. Help, please!     I have a machine t1500 dell with core i870, 16 GB of ram, nvidia quadro fx 512 mb graphics card, 500 gb hd, windows 7 pro 64-bit.

    In this machine wmware workstation 7 (latest version) is installed with autoprotect runs up to 10 daily snapshot.

    About 40 days, I converted two computers in vm... one with 32-bit vista and one with 32-bit xp.

    Every month the recent, everything works well... but yesterday all the vm was crushed because the space in my hd was full... so since the Snapshot Manager, I deleted some old snapshot.

    During the removal of a few shots, sometimes it shows me that he can't remove because the disc is always busy... but, but icon in the timeline of the Snapshot Manager went... go in the folder where I saved the files in vm, also failed in the Recycle Bin of windows.

    Once deleted, I try to turn it on again the vista 32 bit vm... aaaaahhhhhh, it does not start! and it remains pending mode... why!... If I try to take it back, all wmware workstation crash and I can only see a windows message error that vmware workstation has stopped working.

    OK, so it looks like us (you) lost snapshot sw2 - 000010.vmdk, which was created between March 1 and March 2.

    What we need to do now is to repair the broken chain instant (because of the missing original sw2 - 000010.vmdk) and create a clone of this disc. Snapshots 000043 and 000044 contain no data and can be ignored.

    What we need to do is:

    1.) to repair the chain instant (link sw2 - 000009.vmdk to sw2 - 000006.vmdk)

    • SW2 - 000009.vmdk backup since we need to modify this file
    • Copy the sw2 - 000009.txt attached to the virtual machine file
    • Copy dsfi.exe to the virtual computers folder
    • run: 'sw2 - 000009.vmdk' dsfi.exe 512 800 'sw2 - 000009.txt.

    2.) creating a clone

    • find a drive with enough free space on the drive on which the clone will be created!
    • run: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware - vdiskmanager.exe «r - t 0 \sw2clone.vmdk C:\vm\sw2\sw2-000042.vmdk»»
    • Create a new virtual machine and attach the vmdk cloned (using existing disk) instead of creating a new disc
    • Before you start the virtual machine, create a snapshot where the clone has some corrupted data and you must go back to for example to fix this virtual disk to a helper VM or open it with the disk mounter utility.
    • run the chkdsk command to check that the disc is ok

  • A toolbar to work is now not checked in Firefox and I can't use it. Can you help me please?

    I used Nectar as my homepage and a toolbar added for many years. I always that it is simple and easy to use (a big plus for aging technophone!) and it is especially useful for letting me know what stores I could shop with through Nectar to increase my Nectar points. Points were also earned to complete the 'research', another useful feature.

    In the past months, I have struggled with this up to the point where I contacted the persistent Nectar. They have kindly added 'free' points to my account to compensate for the fact that I had been unable to use the toolbar or to the shop via the Nectar. They suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the improved version of their toolbar. I tried to do several times, but have failed to be able to access online stores through Nectar and also to add to my total points using the Nectar search tool.

    After trying again, in vain, to reload the toolbar, I now have to find a message from Firefox saying "Nectar Toolbar could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution.

    Can you please check this product so that I can continue its use? I don't know how else more to come this problem and would like to make things as simple as they were until this issue has been raised.

    I hope someone can help - but please keep in mind of my state of technophobia and explain things in a way very simple for me (IE without using jargon 'computer' and technical writing!).

Add-on developers who are registered with the official website of modules was warned about this, API removed from Firefox 9 to 12 months to give developers time to fix their add-on before Mozilla removed the corresponding code for this API.

    Bottom line is the Nectar needs to fix their extension to get it working again, AND they need to submit it to Mozilla Add - ons for the signature.

    In 41 Firefox Add - ons that are not "signed" will be disabled, but the user can substitute for it. In Firefox 42 that replace the missing aura of the Beta and Release versions - signature is required for Firefox 42 and subsequently.
